ConclusionBiogas plants provide a fully sustainable and integrated systemfor resource and environmental management that offer governments amultipurpose technology option for fulfilling a cluster of policy needs.For example, biogas can be used to displace fossil fuels otherwise usedfor heating, electricity and transport. In addition, digestate is an easy touse biofertilizer that can be used to replace fossil fuels thatotherwise would be used for fertiliser manufacture and its transportaround the world. Production of good quality digestate for use asbiofertilizer is the result of careful control of all aspects of the process,from feedstock to field. Feedstock selection, adherence to strictstandards (government and/or farmer determined) and compliancewith codes of good agricultural practice are all key issues.
