prevalencia de la Diabetes en
España (ES)
El estudio [email protected] responde a la necesidad de actualizar los datos referentes a la prevalencia
de DM2 en España y otros factores de riesgo cardio-metabólicos. De este modo se ha
desarrollado un gran estudio nacional de epidemiología de la diabetes mellitus y de los factores
de riesgo cardiovascular asociados, como obesidad o hipertensión arterial, entre otros, así como
sobre hábitos de salud.
Estudio de investigación clínica impulsado por CIBERDEM que busca poner a prueba la hipótesis
de que una dieta rica en sardina mejora el control metabólico en pacientes con diabetes mellitus
tipo 2.
Objetivos: Evaluar los efectos de una dieta rica en sardina en el control glucémico, marcadores
de inflamación, presión arterial, metabolismo lipídico y microbiota intestinal de pacientes con
diabetes tipo 2 de diagnóstico reciente o sin tratamiento farmacológico.

Riesgo Cardiovascular en España
(ES)
Informa sobre la frecuencia y distribución de los principales componentes de la historia natural
de la enfermedad cardiovascular (ECV). Por tanto, se describen factores de riesgo cardiovascular
ligados a los estilos de vida, como el consumo de tabaco, la actividad física y la alimentación.
También se proporciona información sobre factores biológicos de riesgo cardiovascular, como el
exceso de peso, el síndrome metabólico, la hipertensión arterial, la dislipemia o la diabetes
mellitus.

western European countries. Detailed information on diet, lifestyle characteristics,
anthropometric measurements, and medical history was collected at recruitment (1992—1999). Working groups: Cancer Working Groups, Cardiovascular disease (EPIC-Heart), Diabetes
(InterAct), Obesity/PANACEA, Biostatistics, Nutrition, Healthy ageing (EPIC-Elderly),
Osteoporosis and fractures, Acrylamide, Reproducibility of biomarkers, Mortality,
Neurodegeneration
MEDIGENE (EU)Characterization of the genetic landscape of Southern Europe, Balkans, Anatolia and North
Africa; Study of the variability of 150 candidate genes in both natives and immigrant populations;
Search for potential new genes and gene - environment interaction for metabolic syndrome
PREDIMED - Prevención con Dieta
Mediterránea (ES)
Impacto de la dieta mediterránea en la prevención de enfermedades cardiovasculares. La
importancia de los aceites .
El ensayo PREDIMED (PREvención con DIeta MEDiterránea) es el estudio de mayor envergadura
que se ha realizado sobre nutrición en España. Se valoraron los efectos de la Dieta Mediterránea
en la prevención primaria de la enfermedades crónicas. En este estudio colaboraron más de 90
investigadores de los principales grupos de nutrición españoles.
Se demostró la eficacia de la Dieta Mediterránea en la prevención de la enfermedad
cardiovascular en una población de alto riesgo cardiovascular ( con diabetes mellitus ó tres o más
factores de riesgo).
En la actualidad se trabaja en el estudio PREDIMED PLUS cuya hipótesis de trabajo es que una
dieta mediterránea hipocalórica junto con un aumento de la actividad física reducirá la
incidencia de enfermedad cardiovascular en sujetos con síndrome metabólico con
sobrepeso/obesidad.
