Dr. Kurt Sprenger became music director of the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra in 2002. In conjunction with the FWCO’s move to the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Dr. Sprenger has been named artist in residence at the Seminary. He currently serves as principal violin for the Dallas Chamber Orchestra, the Brazos Chamber Orchestra and is active as a studio violinist in the Metroplex. Overseas he has served as artist in residence at the National Conservatory of Italy, conducting opera throughout the country. In addition, he has conducted and recorded with the Warsaw National Philharmonic in Poland. Dr. Sprenger has held faculty positions at many major universities in Texas, Wisconsin, and California and continues to be active as an educator working with All-Region and All- State orchestras throughout the country. A native of Hawaii, Dr. Sprenger received his Doctorate of Music at the University of Southern California. He and his wife, pianist Jill Sprenger, live in Fort Worth with their three children. Dr. Jill T. Sprenger has piano performance degrees from Oberlin Conservatory, Indiana University, Vienna Hochschule and the University of Southern California. Her teachers have included Menahem Pressler, Maurice Hinson, Hans Graf and John Perry. She was a Fulbright Scholar, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and has been the winner of top prizes in many competitions. A frequent performer, adjudicator and clinician throughout the country, she is currently Professor of Piano and Pedagogy at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where she also maintains an independent studio and is Director of the Southwestern Music Academy.
