FROMTHE PRESIDENT’S DESK
Dear Readers,
I have great pleasure in presenting you the current issue of Vayu Mandal: The Bulletin of
Indian Meteorological Society (IMS). IMS and Panjab University, Chandigarh jointly organized
the National Tropical Meteorology symposium “TROPMET-2015” on the theme “WEATHER &
CLIMATE EXTREMES” during 15-18 February in Chandigarh. A number of distinguished scientists
from India and abroad, leading academicians, young researchers, students and professionals
participated and presented their recent research findings during this symposium. The current issue
of Vayu Mandal covers some of the important papers based on the presentations in TROPMET-
2015 and after their proper review process.
I take this opportunity to call upon all the students, researchers, academicians, scientists and
professionals in the field to regularly contribute to this journal and thereby make their latest research
findings known to the community. Your valuable contribution will enhance the quality of this journal.
I wish to place on record my gratitude to the Editorial Committee for their painstaking efforts in
bringing out this issue of Vayu Mandal-2015. I am also thankful to all those who contributed
research papers/articles to this issue of Vayu Mandal. I am also grateful to the distinguished
