Conclusions• Despite increasing reliability of technology supporting
dynamic positioning operators, personal skills and judgement remain critical for safe operations.
• Activity specific skills development is an operational necessity to adequately prepare DPOs for both routine and novel activities.
• Independent, international and impartial assessments of curricula, training and assessment programmes provide the best quality assurance framework for professional development activities.
