Opening: Thursday 17 September, 6pm Opening Speakers: Associate Professor Anton Lucas, (Flinders University) & Bu Nining (Journalist, disability activist and Perspektif Coordinator) Venue: Kerry Packer Civic Gallery, Hawke Building Level 3, UniSA City West Campus, 55 North Terrace Artist Talk: Friday 25 September, 11am Artwork will be on display from 9 - 30 of September Weekdays 9-5, Thursdays until 7pm This exhibition reveals the unfolding relationship between new and emerging disabled artists in Adelaide and Yogyakarta, Its origin lies in a visit by Indonesian writer and activist Khairani Barokka in 2013 and a return visit by Tutti artists and staff to Indonesia one year later. These visits created a surge of interest in both countries and led to the creation of a sister group Perspektif, under the leadership of esteemed Indonesian artist Moelyono. Using film, animation, and mixed media, artists from Tutti and Perspektif have chronicled some of the ideas and themes behind the installation works and performances which will feature in ‘Shedding Light’ as part of the 2015 OzAsia Festival. This exhibition claims a space for Disabled artists in the international arts conversation and illuminates the increasing global reach of disability culture. Artist talk - The Story behind Shedding Light Friday Sept 25th 11am

Title: Point to Point: Points of similarity and Points of difference. Point to Point is your opportunity to hear first-hand the different perspectives of self-identified disabled artists, cultural advisers and professional artists involved in the growing relationship between emerging artists from Tutti Arts in Adelaide and Perspektif, a newly formed visual arts organisation for children and young people with disabilities in Yogyakarta. Through age and cultural differences Art has become their language of choice and this artist talk, interpreted conventionally and in Sign language for both languages will reveal the discovery of common ground and how both groups have began to explore it through Art. The panel discussion will be facilitated by Dr Roslyn von der Borch from the Flinders Asia Centre.
