HOUSING, MEALS, & SUPERVISIONCamp students, except day campers, will be housed in air conditioned UNCG residence halls and will eat all meals in the nearby University Dining Hall. Campers must bring their own sheets, towels, and pillow from home. Camp students will be housed on a two per room basis. You may wish to find a roommate who is also attending camp. Housing for Friday night, at the end of camp, is not provided.

Meals begin with dinner on Sunday and end with dinner on Friday – 16 meals in all. All meals will be served cafeteria style and students will be allowed to eat as much food as they wish at every meal with a wide variety of choices.

While staying in the UNCG residence halls, all music camp students will be under the careful supervision of the Music Camp Staff. More than 80 counselors will be living with the campers each week monitoring all aspects of camp life. For additional details, including Frequently Asked Questions, sample schedules, supervision and safety, and day camper info, visit our website at www.smcamp.org.

HEALTH CAREIn the event of an illness or injury to a student at camp, the staff will escort that student to the Summer Music Camp Registered Nurse for prompt, professional medical care. In the unlikely event that a student would need to see a physician or visit a hospital, immediate transportation and an escort would be provided. Any injury, no matter how slight, will be reported at once to the parent. Costs resulting from a doctor visit, prescription medication, x-rays, lab work or hospital treatment are the responsibility of the parent.

REFUNDSYou may cancel your application for Summer Music Camp and receive a refund less $50.00 (non-refundable portion on all camp fee plans) if the request is made two weeks prior to the opening of that week. No money will be refunded for any reason after the two week deadline. Students arriving late for camp or leaving early are not eligible for a refund of any amount. The Camp Membership is not transferable to anyone else. The initial $50.00 registration deposit is not refundable for any reason.

FREE TIME & RECREATIONTo balance the musical and educational experiences of Summer Music Camp, there is a brief opportunity for free time each afternoon. Camp students will have time to relax, visit the student center and bookstore, or have a snack. Other popular activities at camp include two evening movies and a party on Thursday night. Activities are under the careful guidance of the Music Camp Staff as the well-being of each camper is our foremost concern.

EQUIPMENTEach band and orchestra student will be expected to furnish his or her own instrument and bring a folding metal music stand. A limited number of musical instruments such as string basses, concert percussion equipment, and pianos will be available from the School of Music.

PIANO CAMPPiano Camp will be available to students from Grades 6 through 12 who have studied piano for at least two years. Instruction in piano technique, keyboard literature, basic musicianship, ensemble playing and theory will be a part of the camp. Each student will receive two half-hour private piano lessons during the camp and will likely be introduced to the organ, harpsichord, and fortepiano. All Piano Camp students will also participate by singing in a mixed chorus. Total prices for Piano Camp are $525 for Plan 1 and $435 for Plan 2 (both include private lessons).
