DOVER-No one
could have ordered a better
day than Sa tu rday ,
September 9, 2006. The
temperture was just right,
around 80 degrees and a cool
breeze along with the shade
of the trees in front of town
hall, set a perfect setting for
such a historic event that
was about to take place. This
special edition of Ye Old Tye
News takes a special look at
this event as witnessed by
the hundreds of people who
attended and the thousands
of photos that were taken.
Our own historical society’s
photographer Rick Kelly was
able to snap hundreds of
photos from start to finish
whick are presented in this
edition. We know many of
our society members live out-
of-town and out-of-state and
were not able to attend. We
hope this newsletter will
bring you a little closer to a
day that made Dover
proud. Proud of its
heritage and its people.
Proud of Dover’s present
and its future. One only
has to live in Dover or had
lived in Dover, gone to
Dover’s schools, attended
Dover’s churches and
shoped i n Dove r ’ s
downtown to truly realize
what a great community
Dover really is.

delight, Bob pulled through and not only
repaired the dogs, but reinvforced their

recognized at the redidication cermony

DOVER-Bob Wagner once
again came to the plate and this time
hit a grand slam home run. The
refurbisher of the Doug Boy Statue at
Hurd Park, the restorator of the church
statues at Sacred heart Church and the
renorvator of the Dover Museum House
at 55 W. Blackwell Street, Bob Wagner
was once again called upon for his
talents and services to do the
impossible. Mayor Jame Dodd asked
Bob to repair this historic 1869 “Dover
Dogs” that were severly damaged by

Poolas were enlisted. Alderman Jack
Delaney contributed a wealth of ideas.
At Frank’s suggestion, Mike Picciallo
joined, bringing his record of successful
fundraising efforts. Of course, most
critical to the success of the project was
finding the right person for the physical
job of restoration. Dover’s own Bob
Wagner, a frequent volunteer and
supporter of many civic causes,
painstakingly applied his incomparable
skills and produced the impeccable
work before us. Thanks, Bob, for a
job well done! I would like to thank
all the individuals and businesses of
Dover who contributed their labors

committee to plan the repair and
restoration of our legendary dogs, I
eagerly volunteered to serve and chair
the efforts. The logical choice to act
