December has arrived – the end of another year, this one was quite eventful with many happy memories but also a few sad ones. At the time of writing this we are in desperate need of some good rainfall, the Dorrigo Show is on this coming week-end and that normally attracts some rain, so maybe by the time you receive this we will be smiling again!

As usual we will be having a pre-Christmas drinks and nibbles at Stan Cork Machinery in Dorrigo. This year it will be on Friday 23rd December. If you would like to come a share a few drinks and are worried about driving home, please let me know in advance and I will organise a lift home for you (within a reasonable distance – I won’t be transporting people to Sydney or Melbourne!). Hopefully our calendars will have turned up by then and you can pick up one up at the same time.

Just an idea for a Christmas present – we have just purchased one ourselves to replace another brand that has given us a lot of trouble – we have Kubota Whipper Snippers in stock – after hearing the language coming out of someone (not me) last weekend whilst trying to start the old one I felt it was time to replace it before the neighbours started complaining. We also have “push” mowers as well as Ride-on’s and Zero turn machines. Even though it is dry, the grass still seems to be growing – or is that the weeds that are thriving? Also a great range of children’s toys have arrived just in time before the jolly man in the red suit makes his annual appearance.

STAN CORK MACHINERY TRADING HOURS OVER THE FESTIVE SEASON

WOOLGOOLGA BRANCH: Closed: December 24th– re-opening Tuesday 3rd January 2017

DORRIGO BRANCH: Closed: December 24th—re-opening Wednesday 28th December

Closed: December 31st – re-opening Tuesday 3rd January 2017

This month I am including a couple of Christmas Recipes – I don’t normally put recipes in as I don’t think I am a particularly good cook but the Fruit Cake Recipe is absolutely amazing and is the easiest cake I have ever made (the guys had it here for morning tea over the past few days and there has been no complaints so that is normally a good sign). The other one is a family favourite handed down from my Aunty Bev – I don’t make it anymore because I love it too much and end up eating it all.

On behalf of Management and Staff at Stan Cork Machinery, may I wish you the Compliments of the Season. I hope you are spending Christmas with your loved ones and it is an extra spe-cial time for you. Merry Christmas.

Rod Thomas with Bluechip Gold Dust Marion

THREE INGREDIENT FRUIT CAKE

1 kg mixed fruit

3 cups black tea

3 cups self raising flour

METHOD: Soak fruit in tea overnight. Preheat oven to 125 C. Stir flour into soaked fruit and mix well. Add more tea if the mixture is too dry. It is quite a thick mixture but some-times the fruit really absorbs the liquid and is hard to dampen the flour. Spoon mixture into a 22cm lined cake tin. Bake for 2 ½ hours or until cooked through. Remove and leave to cool. Wrap in tin foil or place in an airtight contain-er. Keeps for a month.

BEV’S BEST CHRISTMAS CAKE (absolutely no calories/kilojoules?????)

½ cup red glace cherries, halved

½ cup green glace cherries, halved

1 cup coarsely chopped glace pineapple

1 cup coarsely chopped glace peaches

1 cup white choc bits

1 tablespoon self raising flour

1 ½ cups pecan nuts

1 cup blanched almonds

1 ¾ cups flaked coconut

1 x 395g can sweetened condensed milk.

The Beautizone Jersey Cattle Club held its All Breeds Dairy Heifer Show over the weekend of November 12—13.

The 12 classes were well attended and were judged by Alan Clarke.

The Senior Supreme Champion was Bluechip Gold Dust Marion exhibited by Rod Thomas (pictured).

Rod was also the most successful exhibitor for the week-end with Tony and Leesa Northfield coming in second.

These two placings were proudly sponsored by Stan Cork Machinery.

Stan Cork Machinery would like to congratulate all the

exhibitors on a very successful weekend.

JOKE OF THE MONTH No Nativity scene in Canberra this year ......

The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be a Na-tivity Scene in the nation's Capital this Christmas season.

This isn't for any religious reason. They simply have not been able to find Three Wise Men in Canberra . . .

The search for a Virgin continues . . . .

However, there was no problem finding enough donkeys to fill the stable. BOOM BOOM !!!

The Duncan Ag name is synonymous with quality, durability and innova-tion. We have a comprehensive range of over 14 seeders—each built to the

same exacting standards that have been with Duncan since 1865.
