WelcomeDoric is proud of our various associations in motorsport, with the 2012 season marking Doric’s ninth straight year delivering money can’t buy experiences for our staff and valued clients.

This year sees our Doric Racing family remain intact from 2011, with the main involvement being our support of stand-out V8 Supercar squad, Ford Performance Racing. Will Davison and Mark Winterbottom are two of the brightest shining stars in Australian motorsport, and we are sure that they will once again fly the Doric flag proudly.

FPR is a team on the rise, and we hope to receive some fantastic coverage with our logo placed in front of the team’s in-car cameras, as well as on the team uniforms and on Will’s helmet.

James Moffat is a star in the making and his performances in his first full season last year for Dick Johnson Racing were outstanding.

James has the right team behind him to get the job done. His number 18 machine is the very car that James Courtney drove to the championship victory in 2010, so keep an eye on our young charge as the season progresses.

Speaking of legends, John Bowe is back for more in 2012 with his awesome Mustang in the Touring Car Masters. JB has won everything there is to win in Australian motorsport, and just keeps on keeping on. Last year he managed to add the TCM title to his long list of career achievements, and he will be looking to repeat the performance this year.

Last but not least is Team Motologic in the Australian Superbike Championships. The team stays the same as last year- Jamie Stauffer and Wayne Maxwell on Hondas, with the combination proving successful in 2011.

Under the leadership of Superbike guru Paul Free, Wayne and Jamie will be two to watch as the season goes on.

Motorsport is competitive, exciting, passionate & innovative, we at Doric stand for all those values, and as the slogan says, Doric are the Innovators.

Enjoy your new look Racer magazine, and your day at the races.

I look forward to speaking with you and moving forward in business together.

Title Down to the Wire At QLD Raceway

Doric rider Wayne Maxwell remains in the hunt for this year’s Australian Superbike Championship title as the series heads

to Queensland Raceway for the final round this weekend.

Maxwell is just 19.5 points behind current leader Josh Waters, while team mate Jamie Stauffer is a further 27.5 points behind in third position.

Maxwell set up the exciting finish after he dominated the last round at Phillip Island, where he recorded a pole position start and two race victories.

“What a weekend at Phillip Island and I couldn’t be happier with two race wins! It’s the right time of the year to be winning races and it keeps me in the title hunt,” Wayne Maxwell said.

“I need to have an equally good weekend at Queensland Raceway this weekend as I try and claim this year’s Championship title.”

Team mate Jamie Stauffer is also full of confidence heading into this weekend’s final round.

“Overall I had a good weekend at the last round at Phillip Island and I was happy to finish on the podium in both races,” Jamie Stauffer said.

“I am looking forward to heading back to Queensland Raceway this weekend as I was quite successful here earlier in the season. I’ll be trying to finish the year with another race win and hopefully a top three finish overall.”

Stout Season Continues For Doric V8s

Will Davison remains in title contention after he recorded another podium finish at the V8 Supercar Championship weekend at Sydney Motorsport

Park, formerly known as Eastern Creek.

Davison finished third in the first race of the weekend, while a steering problem saw him finish fifth in the second race.

“It was great to pick up some valuable points and a podium finish in Saturday’s race, however I was slightly disappointed I couldn’t back it up on Sunday,” Will Davison said.

“I need to do well in the upcoming endurance races at Sandown, Bathurst and the Gold Coast to stay in Championship contention. However I am confident I will do well, especially on my home track at Sandown in Melbourne this weekend.” Mark Winterbottom is also proving to be a Championship contender after he performed strongly on the Sydney racetrack and finished on the podium in both races.

Winterbottom is now just one point behind current Championship leader Jamie Whincup. “I always thought Sydney Motorsport Park would be a danger round for us, however we got some valuable points with two podium finishes. I am now hoping to keep my momentum going at Sandown,” Mark Winterbottom said. James Moffat had a steady weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park in his first V8 Supercar appearance on this track.

Moffat raced competitively despite a general lack of car speed to finish 19th and 16th respectively in the two events.

“We did what we could … tyres again told the story. On Saturday the car didn’t have much speed on ‘softs’ or ‘hards’ but on Sunday it was quite good on the second set of ‘hards’ and also on the ‘softs’ but we hadn’t changed it much,” James Moffat said.

“Despite the results it felt like a weekend we made a bit of progress with the car, I am looking forward to being able to demonstrate that at Sandown this weekend.”

Bowe Blazes Field at Muscle Car Masters

In the Australian Touring Car Masters Series, Doric driver John Bowe remains the outright leader after he dominated round five at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Bowe won all three races during the event and has stretched his series lead to 107 points over the second placed Jim Richards.

“Sydney was a terrific event to compete in and it’s a great feeling to be back at Sydney Motorsport Park,” an excited John Bowe said.

“ The crowd was amazing all weekend and it’s shown that motorsport fans still love this track.”

Bowe hasn’t been defeated in the last nine races of this year’s series and he heads into this weekend’s round at Sandown full of confidence.

“My car ‘Mustang Sally’ went really well and helped me to get a great start in every race in Sydney so I hope she will do the same for me in Melbourne,” Bowe said.

“To finish with three race victories for the third straight round is an excellent result and I can’t wait for the next event at Sandown.”

Bowe remains confident of defending his Australian Touring Car Masters title this year.

However, he knows he will have a fight on his hands until the final round in November.

“I need to keep putting the pressure on the other drivers by getting some big points in the next couple of rounds,” a determined Bowe said.

“I know with the car I have got and a great support team behind me, I can definitely finish off the season strong.”

Crunch Time at QLD Raceway

Queensland Raceway is a fast and free flowing circuit and will provide plenty of passing opportunities for riders.

It has been recently resurfaced and over the years it has hosted a number of major international races including the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix and Australian rounds of A1GP.

Queensland Raceway is the ideal place for the final round of this year’s Australian Superbike Championship as it should provide some exciting racing for riders and fans.

This will be the second time a Superbike event will be held on this track in 2012, the previous round was held in June.

Doric Rider Jamie Stauffer dominated Queensland Raceway the last time the Superbikes were here. It was also the venue of his first race victory of the season. Stauffer will be hard to beat again this weekend because it’s a circuit he loves to compete on and it suits his racing style.

Current Series leader Josh Waters will also be one to watch as he is bringing some good form into this weekend’s round and is close to taking out the Championship. Doric Rider Wayne Maxwell is also full of confidence and has momentum on his side after a clean sweep of three race wins at Phillip Island. Maxwell is determined to win this year’s Championship from Waters and it should be a fight right until the finish line on Sunday.
