Dear Members,

Fall is one of the most delightful times of the year, when our families and friends come together to celebrate all of the upcoming holiday festivities. We begin the fall activities with the hosting of the PGA Tour Latino America's Puerto Rico Classic on October 7th through October 13th, which will take place on the East Course. I invite you to come by and enjoy the experience of watching championship golf that these players will provide. In more golf related news, don't forget to join us on October 8th at the Clubhouse for the premier viewing party of Big Break Puerto Rico/NFL. Let's all celebrate seeing our amazing club spotlighted on national primetime television!

In other event news, I'm sure everyone will be happy to hear that Mercado Dorado is back on October 5th. Please stop by to enjoy freshly prepared food and to see what the local farmers and artists have to offer. Also, the Susan G. Komen 5k Race is on October 6th. Don't forget to sign up to be a part of the Dorado Beach Team and help make our presence felt in support of this tremendous cause.

As the holidays are quickly approaching, please make plans to attend Thanksgiving Day Brunch and Lunch with Santa. Mark your calendars for the Members' Holiday Party on December 12th, which promises to be the social event of the year. The theme will be "The Great Gatsby" and we encourage everyone to get creative with your attire.

The Club is introducing a new Legacy Membership Program for members with children between the ages of 25 and 40 who would enjoy the benefits of membership. What a wonderful gift this would make for your children this holiday season that will last a "Lifetime". You can find additional information in this newsletter or by contacting Carmen Torres at (787) 626-1038 or [email protected]. We encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

I would like to introduce Francisco Figueroa, our new Member Relations Manager. Francisco comes to us with a communications and event production background. We are very excited to have him join our team to help deliver exceptional events for our members. Francisco may be reached at (787) 626-1009 or [email protected].

By now you should have received the new golf cart policy. If you have not yet registered your golf cart, please do so immediately as the deadline for the registration date has now passed. It is important to remember that children under the age of 12 are not permitted to drive the golf carts on club property, even if a parent or guardian is in the vehicle. This policy is in effect for the safety and wellbeing of all Dorado Beach Club community members and their guests.

Lastly, please don't overlook that Dorado Beach has many outstanding venues to offer for your holiday corporate and/or personal parties and I invite you to explore them all when planning for all of your upcoming celebrations.

I look forward to seeing you around the Club.

Warm regards,

David Tyson Dorado Beach Resort & ClubGeneral Manager/COO

SpotlightFrancisco Figueroa

What is your role and what are your goals? Member Relations Manager – My role is to coordinate communications efforts with the members, plan, and coordinate social events. My goal is to make Dorado Beach the member’s home away from home.

What do you consider the most important thing when planning an event? The experience the guest will have at the event. I strive to make sure that once the guest arrives he/she will have a great experience at the event and look forward to the next one.

What do you enjoy best at what you do?

The best part for me is seeing an event fully setup and guests enjoying what I have planned for them. Events take a lot of planning and hard work for them to be successful and it is a great satisfaction to see it come together and the guests enjoy themselves.

Outside of work, what do you do for fun?Just about anything that involves watersports but I especially love to sail. I’ve been sailing since I was 4 years old have been competing internationally for the Puerto Rico National Sailing Team for the past 10 years. I try to go sailing as much as I can on my free time whether it be for recreation or training for a competition.

What is something you recommend that every client can do here at the resort?I strongly recommend a day of sailing, beach and watersports fun followed by a great meal at Barlovento. We have a very special place to sail and to enjoy the beach that rival and exceed many sailing clubs I’ve seen around the world.

Breast Cancer Risk Factors

What aects your risk of getting breast cancer?

The causes of breast cancer are not fully known. However, researchers have found a number of factors that increase your chance of getting breast cancer. These are called risk factors. Risk factors do not cause breast cancer, but can increase the chances of getting breast cancer. Some women have many risk factors, but never get breast cancer. And, some women have few or no risk factors, but do get the disease. Talk to your health care provider about your personal risk.

There are some risk factors you can control, and others you cannot. Even if you do not have any of these risk factors, you can still get breast cancer.

Fitness Tips & Workouts:

Health & Nutrition:

The Goblet SquatInvented by Dan John and named after the position in which the weight is held, use this exercise in age groups ranging from 8-to-50-years old. It's especially great for those with subpar ankle mobility, poor wrist flexibility, injured shoulders, and/or long legs. It would be fair to say that most of us fall into at least one of those categories.

The few coaching cues involved in the goblet squat more than suffice to get the job done:

• Hold a weight against the chest. If you have a kettlebell, grab it by the horns; with a dumbbell, hold one of the heads up vertically between your palms.

• Position your feet so your stance is a smidge outside shoulder-width, with your toes pointed slightly out. If you're taller, you may need to widen the stance a little more

• Drop it like it's hot. That is, sit back and

Chicken Burger Topped With Feta ,Roasted Red Bell Pepper & ArugulaChicken is a great source of lean,

high-quality protein. Add in roasted red pepper, feta cheese, and arugula, and you've got a meal that's not only high in protein, potassium, and antioxidants, but also offers a mouthful of savory Mediterranean flavors.

Ingredients• 1 lb. ground chicken• 1/2 cup fat free feta cheese• 1/4 cup roasted red bell pepper

(from jar)• Sliced tomato (medium)• 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil• Salt & pepper to taste• 100% whole wheat sandwich thins

down between the knees, keeping your chest up the whole time. Make sure you're not falling forward or rounding your back.

• Go down as low as you can while keeping your feet flat on the floor. If your heels come up, your stance is still too narrow.

• At the bottom, brush your elbows down

the inside of your legs and push your knees out. This is what makes the goblet squat so special, so let me say that again: knees out, knees out, knees out.

• Shoot back up and stand tall at the top.Simple enough, right? Make sure to not overthink it. Think less, squat more, and everyone will be happy.

Directions• Heat grill.• In a bowl, mix 1 lb. ground chicken

with feta cheese, chopped basil, roasted bell pepper, salt and pepper.

• Form 4 small burgers, approximately

4 oz. apiece.• Cook thoroughly on grill, about 10

minutes each side.• Place on sandwich thins and top with

sliced tomato, feta, roasted red bell pepper, and arugula.

Talking About Tennis

Many recreational tennis players have either battled thru or quit tennis after suffering a bad case of tennis elbow. What is tennis elbow, how do you get it, and how can we help eliminate tennis elbow?Tennis Elbow is a common term for pain and soreness on the outside of the elbow. Tennis elbow is a common ailment that is associated more frequently with things other than tennis. You can get “tennis elbow” from doing such common things as carrying groceries, riding a bike, or any time there is constant pressure on the forearm. In tennis, players most frequently get tennis elbow from constantly holding the hitting arm too tight between shots and between points.Have you ever heard of a professional tennis player taking time off for tennis elbow (I haven’t )? So, what is their secret? It is actually very simple.

Professional players make great use of their non-dominant hand. When you watch the pros play, between every shot and every point they rest the racquet in the non-dominant hand and relax their hitting hand. If you have a few seconds, go to this video clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBioEMX2IdM and watch how Justine Henin opens her right hand (dominate) between shots and uses her left hand (non-dominate) to support the racquet.Recently, I have been asked by Ubersense, a free app for coaches on the Ipad, to be a contributing tennis pro for their tennis section. If you have a few minutes, then check out the video on their site. I show a very easy drill to practice using your non-dominate hand to dominate both the racquet and your opponent.
