It’s no wonder foie-gras has been dubbed‘torture in a tin’. Ducks and geese are beingdriven from the ponds and into intensive farmsin their millions, where they are routinelyabused in the name of ‘fine dining’.

Every year in France, 30 million ducks areforced into cages so small they can’t evenstretch their wings. Trapped and helpless, ametal tube is thrust down their throats andvast quantities of food are forcibly pumpedinto their stomachs so that their livers swellpainfully to up to 10 times their natural size.There is no escape and no respite.

The sufferingof thesebirds is soextreme itwould beillegal in thiscountry.However,free tradelaws meanthat every

year we importtonnes of thesediseased livers,marketed as anexpensivedelicacy. Britainis a drivingforce behindthis cruelindustry.

For themillions oflittle femaleducklings bornin France anotherhorror awaits. They are tossed alive intoelectric mincers at just a few days old tosuffer a violent and horrific death – their onlycrime is they don’t put on weight as quickly astheir brothers.
