1. Semicolon

Use a semicolon to join parts of a compound sentence if no coordinating conjunction is used(a stronger connection is shown than with a comma and conjunction)

Bonita is good at set shots; I am not.

With commas: use a semicolon between independent clauses joined by a conjunction if the clause before the conjunction contains commas

We put together our sandwiches, soda, raw vegetables, and potato salad; and I still wondered if there would be enough to eat.

When there are commas within parts of a series, use a semicolon to separate the parts.

Use a colon to introduce a list of items (it often follows a word or phrase like these, the following, or as follows)
