Opened the first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in Salt Lake

City, in 1952, with the first franchisee, Pete Harman

Copyright filed for the “Kentucky Fried Chicken” name

and a patent obtained for his special method of frying.

At age 65, set out travelling the country to visit more potential

franchisees. Turned down 1,000 times.

LITTER PILOT PROGRAMME This direct line will

Our mission is bigger than just chicken. That’s why we set up the KFC Foundation in 2015.

The aim of the KFC Foundation is to support grass roots organisations that empower young people across the UK.

Organisations that provide spaces for young people to feel safe and secure, enable them to unlock talent, build life skills and improve their chances to gain meaningful employment.

In 2021, we launched the KFC Litter Line – a single point of contact for anybody who’s noticed our packaging discarded in their community.

KFC closed every one of its restaurants at the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was a painful decision, but we felt that we couldn’t ask our staff to come into the kitchen before we’d had the chance to thoroughly update our processes.

We were the first brand in our sector to re-open, as a result of our fundamental re-imagination our restaurant operations:

• Pioneering the use of plexiglass screens, gloves, and face coverings.

• Tested and then implemented contactless handover of food to drive-thru customers and delivery riders.

• Fully trained every Restaurant Manager and Team Member on our

new safety processes and monitored rigorously for compliance.

It was our privilege to be able to donate thousands of morale-boosting meals to NHS workers and others in key frontline roles across the country in the early weeks of the pandemic, in partnership with Deliveroo.
