Oh God, You are my God And I will ever praise You

Oh God, You are my God And I will ever praise You

I will seek You in the morning And I will learn to walk in Your ways

And step by step You'll lead me And I will follow You all of my days

“Step by Step” lyrics by Rich Mullins

Here is an update from Jane on Pastor Rom’s condition from Sunday, October 27th:

"Pastor Rom had his follow-up appointment with the spinal surgeon, who said the healing is going as expected. The speech pathologist cleared him to start on regular liquids (as opposed to thickened liquids) and to slowly add regular foods. This will be a process, beginning with soft casseroles, etc. Pastor Rom is happy to taste "real" food again!

Your prayers for continued healing and patience with the process are very welcome. We have been blessed with wonderful cards, notes, artwork and flowers! They truly do lift our spirits and help us appreciate our blessings too. Pastor Rom is working on his exercises and walking that the OT and PT have given him. It will be a few weeks before the next update, because progress during this stage of recovery is a series of very small improvements. Thank you so much!"

PRAYER CHAIN OPPORTUNITY

Initially introduced to this congregation by Marge Harr, the prayer chain affords an opportunity for individuals to be informed regarding urgent needs and requests to lift these needs in prayer. In the process of updating and reorganizing, we are seeking individuals willing to receive calls regarding urgent prayer needs and to, along with prayers for the particular need, pass the need on to the next person on the prayer chain. To be a part of this important ministry, call Rosemary Edwards at 935-5955 or the church office 935-5451.

A STEWARDSHIP MESSAGE FOR YOUR CHURCH

#295 Giving breaks the temptation of greed. “The one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind.” (2 Corinthians 9:6-7a)

Are you 70-1/2 or older? Or do you know someone 70-1/2 or older?

If you are, what ministries are you most passionate about? Don’t pass up the chance to make a special gift this year!

Don and Sandi always wanted to see a youth minister in place at their church. When they learned they could make a distribution directly to their church from their Traditional IRA to provide the seed money to start this ministry, they decided to tithe their IRA. A few other members of their church joined them in this effort and now the youth ministry position is funded for the next five years. The IRA Rollover is a special giving option that is only available through December 31, 2013 to persons 70-1/2 and older. Call your IRA administrator today and request to have your Required Minimum Distribution for 2013 (or a gift of your choice up to a maximum of $100,000) sent directly to your local church (or other charity). This gift will benefit the ministry you have designated and will NOT be included in your gross income for tax purposes. What types of IRAs qualify? Only Traditional and Roth IRAs When? Now through December 31, 2013. Where can I make Qualified Charitable Distributions from my IRA? Only to qualified public charities. All United Methodist Churches and United Methodist Ministries are qualified public charities: UMCOR, any of our Health and Welfare Ministries, UM Camps, or Advance Specials. You may make an outright gift or make a gift that establishes a permanent endowment fund. For more information, see the sample letter on the reverse side or contact Jean Nicholas or Rick Churan at:

Wisconsin United Methodist Foundation 750 Windsor Street Ste 305

Sun Prairie, WI 53590 1-888-903-9863 or [email protected]

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

The UMW wishes to thank everyone who helped in any way to make our Fall Rummage and Bake Sale a huge success!! Because of your generous donations of rummage items, crafts, baked goods, fruit, jams and jellies etc. and because of the generous donations of time (and muscle) from the Trustees and the approximately 36 people who worked throughout the 4 day event we were able to realize a profit of around $1700. This money will be used to support our local church, community charities and programs, and meet our pledge to mission to the Wisconsin Conference UMW. Specific donations will be made to UMC Camp Scholarships, the Youth Mission Trip, the Madison Mission Chaplaincy, Stephen Ministry, Prayer Ministry (cards), as well as the Iowa County Food Pantry, We Care, and other community and church programs. UMW Conference programs that we have supported include Northcott, the Hmong House of Good News, and Harbor House all in Wisconsin, and the Redbird Mission in Kentucky. Again we say thank you and we very sincerely appreciate your support!!

"Pull Yourself Together!" You've heard it a million times. Others may have said it to you or you may have said it to yourself. But things just aren't coming together. You're still hurting. You still feel like things are falling apart. Our Stephen Ministers are trained caregivers who will walk with you, listen to you, and provide confidential one-to-one care, as you search through the pieces and find what is truly in your heart. To learn more about Stephen Ministry for yourself or someone you know, talk to Gail Ray, one of our Stephen Leaders. Our Stephen Ministers are ready to care for you!
