News from March 17, 2015 [email protected] .us http://mrsdavisdiamonds.weebly. Reading: This week’s reading story is The Half Chicken. The genre of this story is a Folktale. Please make sure that you read this story with your student at least 2 times at home. If your student is struggling on these tests I would recommend reading it even more! Math: This week we are continuing to learn about telling time. I think most of us have mastered telling time to the hour and to the half hour. Therefore now we start telling time to quarter til and quarter after. This is something very hard for the students because when they think of quarter they think of 25, not 15; which makes sense. Therefore we will be spending this entire week in math working on quarter til and quarter after as well as telling time to the 5 minutes. Your students will have two days of homework that is the regular homework that they usually have and two days of a different type of homework, This Week’s Focus March 17 th —Grades Go Home! Your students will have two days of homework that is the regular homework that they usually have and two days of a different type of homework, like they had last week. I just wanted to let you know because the other two days will NOT say ‘homework’ on the top of it. Spelling- All of our Spelling words this week have prefixes re- and un-. A way I tell students to remember this is in the alphabet the letters are in order P,R,S therefore its prefix, root word, then suffix.
