JESUS IN THE QURAN

Annunciation of Christ

Quran:

Behold! The angels said: "O Mary! Allah hath chosen thee and purified thee - chosen thee above the women of all nations." S. 3:42

"Behold! The angels said: "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a word from him: his name will be the Messiah Jesus, The son of Mary, held in honor in this world and the hereafter and of those nearest to Allah.." She said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?" He said: "Even so: Allah createth what He willeth: when He hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it, 'be; and it is!' " S. 3:45,47.

These passages confirm that Jesus is 1) Al Masih, the Messiah, 2) virgin born, 3) Kalimat Minhu - a word from God and one of those nearest to God.

Relate in the book (the story of) Mary... She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them: then we sent to her our angel (Ruh - spirit) and he appeared before her as a man in all respects... He said: "Mary! I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy (i.e. faultless) son (Ghulamin Zakiyyan)." She said: "How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?" He said: "So (it will be): thy Lord saith, 'That is easy for me: and (we wish) to appoint him as a sign (ayat) unto men (alamin) and a mercy from us: It is a matter (so) decreed." Surah. 19:16, 17, 19-21.

These verses further establish the fact that Jesus is 4) faultless and 5) a sign from God to the entire world, not merely to the Israelites.

We can find in the Quran that that Jesus is The Messiah, Virgin born son of Mary, The Word of God, Sinless, A Sign and Mercy unto mankind.

1. The Messiah "Why do the nations conspire, and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the Earth set themselves, and the rulers take council together, against the LORD and His Anointed (Mashiach), saying, 'Let us burst their bonds asunder, and cast their cords from us.' He who sits in the heavens laughs; The LORD has them in derision, then He will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in His fury, saying, 'I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill.' I will tell of the decree of the LORD; He said to me (the Messiah), 'You are my son, today I have begotten you. Ask of me and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron, and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.' Now therefore, o kings, be wise, be warned o rulers of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, with

trembling kiss His Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way; For his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him." Psalm 2:1-11

And,

"The LORD says to my Lord [i.e. David's sovereign]: 'sit on my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool'... The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind, 'you are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.'" Psalm 110:1, 4

These two passages point out the fact that the one specific Messiah predicted to come would be the Son of God, the King of all the nations and the Eternal Priest of God who sits on the right hand of majesty forever.

The fact that Jesus is the one being referred to in these passages becomes quite clear when reading the Gospel accounts of the angel's annunciation to Mary:

"In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, 'Hail, O favored one, the Lord is with you!' But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his Father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of His kingdom there will be no end." Luke 1:26-33

"...and she (Elizabeth) exclaimed with a loud cry, 'Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!'" Luke 1:42

Indeed Mary is so highly blessed due to the reason that she was to conceive the greatest man who ever lived; the Son of the Most High, the Savior of the World, Jesus the Messiah.

2. The Virgin Birth. 3:45,47.

"And Mary said to the angel, 'How shall this be, since I have no husband?' And the angel said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.'" Luke 1:34-35

The reason that the child is born of a virgin is because he is the Son of God and as such, he could not be conceived in the normal fashion. Had he been born otherwise he would have inherited a sinful nature like all the rest of mankind.

In other words, the virgin birth was a necessity only for the fact that this was the only befitting way for the King of glory to become incarnate, since he is God's unique Son.

Hence, Christians do not believe that the virgin birth makes Jesus the Son of God. Rather, they believe that because Jesus is the Son of God he had to be born of a virgin.

3. The Word of God. In S. 4:171 we are told:

"O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the Son of Mary was a messenger of Allah, and His Word (Kalimatuhu), which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him (Ruhun-Minhu): so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not 'three': desist."

"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that has been made...The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth..." John 1:1-3, 14a.

4. Sinless Both Christians and Muslims affirm his perfect and sinless life. Not only

is Christ the only sinless person amongst all the prophets mentioned in this tradition, but we have Muhammad once again confirming that Jesus is the Word and Spirit of God and not just a word or spirit from him.

"...And those (false gods) whom they invoke besides God have no power of intercession. ONLY HE WHO BEARS WITNESS TO THE TRUTH and they know." S. 43:86

The only one who is not only a witness to the truth but is the very Incarnation of Truth is Jesus Christ:

"Jesus said to him' "I am the way and the TRUTH and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me." John 14:6

Due to the fact that Jesus is the Truth of God revealed to mankind and because he, among all men, is without sin, his intercession is welcomed and

accepted. The short-comings of all the other prophets will prevent them from fulfilling this role:

"For there is one God and ONE mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." 1 Tim. 2:5

"My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world." 1 John 2:1-3

Of humanity we are told that, "None are righteous, no, not one." Since "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3:10, 23

But of Christ we read that, "He committed no sin, no guile was found on His lips," and that He is "like that of a lamb without blemish or spot." 1 Peter 2:22, 1:19

Jesus Christ is "a high priest, holy, blameless, unstained, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens." Hebrews 7:26

He was "one who in every respect was tempted as we are, yet without sin" and because of this God "made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." Hebrews 4:15; 2 Corinthians 5:21

So assured is the sinless life of Christ that He could ask His enemies, "which of you can convict me of sin?" John 8:46

5. Sign Unto Mankind The Quran itself bears testimony to the universal mission of Christ:

He said: "so (it will be): thy Lord saith, 'That is easy for me: and (we wish) to appoint him as a sign unto men and mercy from us.'" S. 19:21

And (remember) who guarded her chastity: "We breathed into her of our Spirit and We made her and her son a sign for all peoples." S. 21:91

Yusuf Ali states in two separate footnotes that Jesus was meant to be a sign for the world:

"Mary the mother of Jesus, chastity was her special virtue: with a son of virgin birth, she and Jesus became a miracle to all nations. This was the virtue with which they (both Mary and Jesus) resisted evil." (1:815, f. 2748)

And when I (God) inspired the disciples, (saying): Believe in me and my messenger (Jesus), they said: we believe. Bear witness that we have surrendered (unto thee). S. 5:111 M. Pickhtall

O ye who believe! Be ye helpers of God: As said Jesus the son of Mary to the Disciples, "who will be my helpers to (the work of) God?" Said the Disciples, "we are God's helpers!" Then a portion of the children of Israel believed, and a portion disbelieved: But we gave power to those who believed, against their enemies, and they became the ones that prevailed. S. 61:14

The Quran testifies that the Apostles were given the same inspiration (wahi) that the earlier Prophets and Muhammad afterwards were given. It also states that God would insure that the true disciples of Jesus Christ would prevail and dominate till the Resurrection Day. Since the Day of Resurrection has not arrived, this would mean that true Christianity still exists. This would also compel us to accept the Bible as authoritative and inspired since it is the only testimony given by the God-inspired Apostles to their followers, a testimony that Allah himself said would remain and prevail against the attacks of the unbelievers. Thus the Apostolic testimony recorded in the Holy Bible can be trusted, and it is within these inspired pages that the universal mission of Christ is confirmed.

"Again Jesus spoke to them saying, 'I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12

"As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." John 9:5

"... and I, when I am lifted up from the Earth, will draw all men to myself." John 12:32

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him." John 3:16-17

Jesus’ Qualities and Attributes:

Spirit Of GodAs mentioned earlier, both the Quran and Traditions refer to Jesus as the Spirit

of God (Ruh-Ullah). While it is true that the title given to Christ in S. 4:171, "a spirit from Him" (Ruhun-Minhu), implies that there are others who could rightly be called spirits from God (i.e. Adam), two other passages make it clear however that Christ is the Spirit of God incarnate:

"And (remember) her who guarded her chastity; We breathed into her of our Spirit, and We made her and her son a Sign for all peoples." S. 21:91

"And Mary daughter of Imran, who guarded her chastity; and We breathed into (her body) of our Spirit; and she testified to the truths of the words of her Lord and of His revelations, and was one of the devout (servants)." S. 66:12

"Thus he spoke to the people in the cradle and was able to read and write the Torah and the Gospel without instruction. He was also able to revive the dead and heal the sick and perform many other miracles." (2:146)

Your Lord is the mighty One, the Merciful. This is surely revealed by the Lord of the universe. The Faithful Spirit brought it down into your heart, that you might warn the mankind in Arabic speech. S. 26:192-95 Dawood

"But He fashioned him (man) in due proportion, and breathed into him something of His Spirit..." S. 32:9

"Behold! Thy Lord said to the angels: 'I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud molded into shape; 'When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My Spirit fall ye down in obeisance unto him.'" S. 15:28-29

Christians believe that based on the Bible, the Holy Spirit is not Jesus Christ, but a distinct yet inseparable personality from Christ. God is Father, Eternal Word and Holy Spirit.

The Father creates, bringing all things into existence through His Eternal Word, by whom He also reveals Himself to man. The Father imparts life into man and unites with him through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. [Genesis 1:1-3; 2:7; John 1:1-3, 14,18; 1 Corinthians 6:19]

God as creator, the Father - Hebrews 3:4. God revealed, The Son - His Word - Matthew 11:27; John 1:1; Revelation 19:13. God the giver of life, the Holy Spirit - Romans 8:4b,11; 2 Corinthians 3:6b)

Christ the Author Of LifeThe Quran portrays Jesus as the divine Creator and Author of life:

And Allah will teach him the Book and Wisdom, the Law and Gospel and (appoint him) a messenger to the children of Israel (with this message): "I have come to you, with a Sign from your Lord, in that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah's permission. And I heal those born blind, and the lepers, and I quicken the dead, by Allah's leave; and I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store." S. 3:48-49; 5:110

This is the closest the Quran comes to acknowledging the omnipotence of Christ. Christ is given a prerogative that is God's alone, namely the ability to infuse life into non-living matter by the breath of his lips. This power bears a profound resemblance to the manner in which God fashioned the first man:

7

Page 8: The Bible, Quran and Salvationpastorlarrydelacruz.weebly.com/.../the_bible_quran__salvation.docx · Web viewThis message the Quran has abrogated and substituted. The Word of God and

And when thy Lord said to the angels: I am going to create a mortal of sounding clay, of black mud fashioned into shape. So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My Spirit, fall down making obeisance to him. S. 15:28-29

From this we observe that Christ, similar to God, is a life-giving spirit. This fact is echoed in the Holy Bible:

"...The first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam (Jesus) became a life-giving Spirit." 1 Corinthians 15:45

“All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.” John 1:3

"Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing; For whatever He does, that the Son does likewise. For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all that he himself is doing; and greater works than these will he show him, that you may marvel. For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me, has eternal life; he does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. Truly, truly I say to you, the hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself and has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man. Do not marvel at this; For the hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come forth, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment. I can do nothing on my own authority; as I hear I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.'" John 5:19-30

The reason behind Christ's authority to give life and to judge is that he is the eternal love of God and all must worship him as the Father's beloved Son. The following passages also confirm this fact:

"And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on him; and lo, a voice from heaven saying, 'This is my beloved Son, with whom I am pleased.'" Matthew 3:16-17

"Father I desire that they (the disciples) also, whom thou hast given me, may be with me where I am, to behold my glory which thou hast given me in thy love for me before the foundation of the world." John 17:24

The Father and his Son have existed in perfect love from all eternity, making them the object of each others love. From this unconditional love flows the grace and mercy towards humanity, which has been revealed at the cross of Calvary:

"He (Satan) has no power over me; but I do as the Father commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father..." John 14:30b-31

8

"In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son as an expiation for our sins." 1 John 4:9-10

The Quran only acknowledges what the Bible believing Christians have always known, namely that Jesus is the resurrection and life:

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life; He who believes in me though he die yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.'" John 11:25-26

Knowledge Of The UnseenOne attribute of God is the ability to know the unknowable (i.e., omniscience).

No man or creature is capable of having the knowledge of the things invisible and hidden. This the Quran bears witness to:

"Say: The unseen belongs only to God." S. 10:20

The Quran attributes to Christ a function that belongs to Deity alone:

"...And I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store in your houses. Surely therein is a sign for you if ye did believe." S. 3:49

According to al-Tabari based on the authority of Ibn Ishaq, "When Jesus was nine or ten years old, his mother sent him to a religious school. But whenever the teacher tried to teach him anything, he found that Jesus already knew it. The teacher exclaimed, 'Do you not marvel at the son of this widow? Every time I teach him anything, I find that he knows it far better than I do.'" (2:142)

Again al-Tabari states, this time based on Said ibn Jubayr, "that Jesus would say to one of his fellow playmates in the religious school, 'Your parents have kept such and such food for you, would you give me some of it?'" (Ibid.)

Al-Suddi relates, "Jesus used to tell his fellow pupils what their parents ate and what they kept for them. He used to say to a boy, 'Go home, for your parents have kept for you such and such food and they are now eating such and such food.' As the parents became annoyed by this, they forbade their children to play with Jesus, saying, 'Do not play with that magician." (Ibid.: 142-143)

Christ Is WorshippedThe Quran announces the birth of John the Baptist as a messenger sent to

prepare the way for Jesus Christ:

"And the angels called to him (Zechariah) while he was he was standing at prayer in the sanctuary, 'God gives you glad tidings of John, confirming a word of God, a master, chaste man and a prophet, one of the righteous.'" S. 3:39 Mahmoud's Translation

9

Page 10: The Bible, Quran and Salvationpastorlarrydelacruz.weebly.com/.../the_bible_quran__salvation.docx · Web viewThis message the Quran has abrogated and substituted. The Word of God and

That the word of God being spoken of here is Jesus, is almost unanimously held by all Islamic scholars, making John a witness to Christ.

Mahmoud Ayoub, citing Tabarsi states:

"Tabarsi argues that John was obligated by God to be a witness to the fact that Jesus was in truth the word of God and His Spirit." (2:109)

(We once again find confirmation that Jesus is THE Word of God, not just a word.)

Zamakshari substantiates this by saying:

"It is related that John was the first to believe in Jesus. Jesus was called Word... because he came to being only by God's word. It was His saying, 'kunn' (be), and no other cause." (2:108)

What is more interesting though, is not the fact that John came as a confirmation to Jesus, but what he actually did when he was in the presence of Christ:

Qurtubi writes that when Mary conceived Jesus, her sister came to visit her during the time of her conception of John:

"The sister visited Mary and said, 'O Mary, do you perceive that I am with child?' Mary answered, 'Do you see that I am also with child?' Her sister went on, 'I feel the child in my womb bowing down to the child in your womb.'"

Qurtubi continues, "It is reported that she felt the fetus in her womb bow down with its head turned toward Mary's womb." (2:108)

The Bible also records the incident of John leaping in the womb:

"...And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, 'Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 'And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the babe in my womb leaped for joy.'" Luke 1:41-44

Elizabeth gives a reason for John's joy. Mary was to conceive Elizabeth's Lord, and because Jesus is Lord of all, everyone must bow down in reverence to the Messiah:

"When they (the magi) saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy; and going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him." Matthew 2:10,11a

"...And those in the boat worshiped him saying, 'Truly you are the Son of God.'" Matthew 14:33

"And behold, Jesus met them and said, 'Hail!', and they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him." Matthew 28:9

"And when they saw him they worshiped him; but some doubted." Matthew 28:17

10

Page 11: The Bible, Quran and Salvationpastorlarrydelacruz.weebly.com/.../the_bible_quran__salvation.docx · Web viewThis message the Quran has abrogated and substituted. The Word of God and

"Jesus heard that they had cast him (the blind man) out and having found him said, 'Do you believe in the Son of Man?' He answered, 'And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?' Jesus said to him, 'You have seen him, and it is he who speaks to you.' He said, 'Lord I believe'; and he worshiped him." John 9:35-37

"And again, when he brings his first-born into the world, he says, 'Let all of God's angels worship him.'" Hebrews 1:6

Because, "at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:10-11

"Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:'You are worthy, O Lord.To receive glory and honorAnd power; For you createdAll things, and by your will they exist and were created.'"Revelation 4:9-11

The inhabitants of heaven worship Jesus:

"Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying:'You are worthy to take the scroll,And to open its seals;For you were slain,And have redeemed us to God by Your bloodOut of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,And have made us kings and priests to our God;And we shall reign on the earth.'"Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice:'Worthy is the Lamb who was slainTo receive power and riches and wisdom,And strength and honor and glory and blessing!'"Revelation 5:8-12

Finally,

"And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all therein saying, 'To Him who sits upon the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might for ever and ever!' And the four living creatures said, 'Amen!' and the elders fell down and worshiped." Revelation 5:13-14

The evidence compels us that to worship Jesus is to worship God.

11

Page 12: The Bible, Quran and Salvationpastorlarrydelacruz.weebly.com/.../the_bible_quran__salvation.docx · Web viewThis message the Quran has abrogated and substituted. The Word of God and

Christ Above The LawAll creation is subject to the Laws of God. None can add or subtract from the

divine decrees but must faithfully follow the commands established by the Creator. For a man to override God's command is blasphemy. Yet, we find Christ doing precisely this in Matthew 5:21-44 when after quoting the Law, he redefines it on his own authority by boldly stating, "But I tell you this..." This places Christ's authority on an equal level with God's, indicating equality in essence and nature.

The Quran itself bears witness to this Biblical fact:

"(I have come to you), to attest to the Law which was before me and to make lawful to you part of what was (before) forbidden to you..." S. 3:50

According to Wahb bin Munabbih, Jesus came to "relieve" the Jews "of some of the hardships" which the Torah imposed on them. (2:149)

Indeed, the more one analyzes the Quranic portrait of Christ the more amazing it appears. In fact, if it were not for the Quran's denial of Jesus' divinity and unique Sonship in such passages as S. 5:72 and 9:30, one would be left with the impression that the Quran does in fact tend to suggest that Christ is both divine and human, two natures united in one person. Even the titles used of Christ in the Quran suggest this i.e., ibn Maryam (son of Mary) and kalimatullah (Word of God).

The title "Son of Mary" is equivalent to the Biblical "Son of Man," an epithet used by Christ in regards to his own person; whereas the title "Word of God" being a synonym for "Son of God." (cf. Mark 14:61b-62; John 1:18, 3:16).

Thus, Jesus Christ the man was limited to the extent of which all humans are limited. He hungered, thirsted, grew weary, slept and grew in wisdom and knowledge similar to all humans. Yet, as God's own Word and unique Son he is the Bread of life, the Living Water, the Sustainer of the universe, the Judge of both the living and the dead, the King of kings and the Lord of Lords. (cf. John 6:35, 4:10; Hebrews 1:3; John 5:26-29; Revelation 17:14, 19:16)

The Biblical teaching is that Christ is God who became man, uniting two natures in one Person. These two natures did not fuse together but rather remained distinct, yet inseparable, in the person of Christ. Hence, we see time and again that Christ could not do in his humanity what he could do in his divinity and vice versa, displaying a perfect manifestation of both natures in one person.

To finish with this aspect of our study, we would like to state that once the evidence has been objectively examined, one will surely arrive to the logical conclusion that Jesus is the Son of the living God, the Savior of the world.

"But into whatsoever city you enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, 'Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is nigh unto you.'" Luke 10:10,11 K.J.V.

"Put your sword back into its place; for all who take the sword die by the sword. Matthew 26:52

"For the Son of Man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them." Luke 9:56

Eternal SecurityA Muslim can only hope for salvation, never knowing if his Lord will be pleased

with him enough to allow him to enter into Paradise.

"But as for him who shall repent and believe and do right, perhaps he may be one of the successful." S. 28:67

"Oh, ye who believe, repent toward Allah, with a sincere repentance. It may be that your Lord will remit from your evil deeds and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow." S. 66:8

"Those only shall worship in the mosques of Allah, who believe in Allah and the last day and observe proper worship and give alms and fear none except Allah; and it might be that these are of the rightly guided." S. 9:18

Even those who are nearest in love to God (i.e. angels) can only hope for salvation:

"Even those (the angels and prophets) who are nearest. They hope for his mercy and fear his wrath." S. 17:57

In reference to hell, the Quran says, "Not one of you but will pass over it (original: through it). This is a decree which must be accomplished." S. 19:71

Muhammad himself was not guaranteed salvation:

"By Allah, though I am the Apostle of Allah, yet I do not know what Allah will do to me." Vol. 5:266

"Truly thou (Muhammad) wilt die, and they (Muslims) (too) will die. S. 39:30

This is why a believer is told to pray for Muhammad's salvation:

"God and his angels pray for the Prophet, and you who believe pray for him and ask for his salvation." S. 33:56

On the other hand, a Christian who has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is guaranteed eternal life,

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me, has eternal life; he does not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life." John 5:24

"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and none can snatch them out of My hand." John 10:27-28

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?" John 11:25-26

Jesus says to his followers, "Because I live, you will live also." (John 14:19 N.K.J.V.)

"Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also." John 14:1-3

"When Jesus had spoken these words, He lifted up His eyes to heaven and said, 'Father, the hour has come; glorify thy Son that the Son may glorify thee, since thou hast given Him power over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom thou hast given Him. And this is eternal life that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent." John 17:1-3

"Father I want those you have given Me to be with Me where I am, and to see My glory, the glory you have given Me because you loved Me before the creation of the world." John 17:24

"For whosoever calleth upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved." Romans10:13 K.J.V.

"But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have eternal life in His name." John 20:31 .

In fact Jesus does not need us sinners to pray for him since He is eternal life and our advocate with the Father:

14

"... the life was made manifest, and we saw it, and testify to it, and proclaimed to you the eternal life (Jesus) which was with the Father and was made manifest to us..." 1 John 1:2

Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth and the life..." John 14:6

"My little children, I am writing this to you so that you may not sin; but if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He is the expiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world." 1 John 2:1-2

Christ's superiority over the prophet of Islam, comes from Muhammad himself:

Narrated Abu Huraira: Two persons, a Muslim and a Jew quarreled. The Muslim said, "By him who gave Muhammad superiority over all the people!" The Jew said, "By him who gave Musa [Moses] superiority over all the people!" At that the Muslim raised his hand and slapped the Jew on the face. The Jew went to the Prophet and informed him of what had happened between him and the Muslim. The Prophet sent for the Muslim and asked him about it. The Muslim informed him of the event.

The Prophet said, "Do not give me superiority over Musa [Moses], for on the day of resurrection all the people will fall unconscious and I will be one of them, but I will be the first to gain consciousness and will see Musa [Moses] standing and holding the throne (of Allah). I will not know whether [Musa (Moses)] has also fallen unconscious and got up before me, or Allah has exempted him from that stroke." Vol. 3:594

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Whoever says that I am better than Yunus (Jonah) Bin Matta, is a liar." Vol. 6:128

If Muhammad is not as great as either Jonah or Moses, then he cannot possibly be as great as Jesus Christ, since Christ is greater than both Moses and Jonah. Jesus was also greater than Solomon and the very temple of God:

"I (Jesus) tell you that one greater than the temple is here." Matthew 12:6 N.I.V.

"And now one greater than Jonah is here…And now one greater than Solomon is here." Matthew 12:41, 42

"But do not think that I (Jesus) will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set. If you believed Moses, you would have believed me, for he wrote about me." John 5:45-46

In fact, all the prophets beginning from Abraham, rejoiced in the knowledge of the coming Christ, hoping this event would occur in their day:

"Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad." John 8:56 N.I.V.

"But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it." Matthew 13:16-17

THE BIBLE, QURAN AND SALVATION

I. THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD A. THE QURAN CONFIRMS Earlier Revelations, Prophets and Books:

1. They include: The Law of Moses, The Psalms, The Prophets and The Gospel {/Koran Surah 28:43; 4:163; 3:48}

Su [4.163] We have sent thee inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him: we sent inspiration to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the Psalms.

Su [3.48] "And Allah will teach him (Jesus) the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel,

2. They are Enlightenment for mankind, guidance and mercy {/Koran Surah 28:43}

Su [28.43] We did reveal to Moses the Book after We had destroyed the earlier generations, (to give) Insight to men, and guidance and Mercy, that they might receive admonition.

3. There are no distinction of Messengers and Books {/Koran Su 2:87; 2:285; 3:48}

Su [2.87] We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of messengers; We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear (Signs) and strengthened him with the holy spirit. Is it that whenever there

comes to you a messenger with what ye yourselves desire not, ye are puffed up with pride?- Some ye called impostors, and others ye slay!

Su [2.285] The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers. "We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His messengers." And they say: "We hear, and we obey: (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys."

4. Both Jews and Christians should believe in them {/Koran Surah 5:68-69}

Su [5.68] Say: "O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord." It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not over (these) people without Faith.

Su [5.69] Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

5. All Muslims must believe in them too {/Koran Surah 2:136; 4:136}. Otherwise, they will go to go astray and go to Hell {/Koran Su 2:85,87}

Su [2.136] Say ye: "We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to Allah (in Islam)."

Su [4.136] O ye who believe! Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and the scripture which He hath sent to His Messenger and the scripture which He sent to those before (him). Any who denieth Allah, His angels, His Books, His Messengers, and the Day of Judgment, hath gone far, far astray.

Su [2.85] After this it is ye, the same people, who slay among yourselves, and banish a party of you from their homes; assist (Their enemies) against them, in guilt and rancour; and if they come to you as captives, ye ransom them, though it was not lawful for you to banish them. Then is it only a part of the Book that ye believe in, and do ye reject the rest? but what is the reward for those among you who behave like this but disgrace in this life?- and on the Day of Judgment they shall be

consigned to the most grievous penalty. For Allah is not unmindful of what ye do.

Su [2.87] We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of messengers; We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear (Signs) and strengthened him with the holy spirit. Is it that whenever there comes to you a messenger with what ye yourselves desire not, ye are puffed up with pride?- Some ye called impostors, and others ye slay!

6. The BOOKS were existing during Christ’s Time {/Koran Surah 2:40,41;3:48,50} {John 5:39; Matthew 22:29}

Su [2.40] O Children of Israel! call to mind the (special) favour which I bestowed upon you, and fulfil your covenant with Me as I fulfil My Covenant with you, and fear none but Me.

Su [3.48] "And Allah will teach him the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel,

Su [3.50] "'(I have come to you), to attest the Law which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was (Before) forbidden to you; I have come to you with a Sign from your Lord. So fear Allah, and obey me.

Jn 5:39 “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;

Mt 22:29 But Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God.

7. And the BOOKS still existed during Muhammad’s Time (600 A.D.) {/Koran Surah 10:94, 32:23}

Su [10.94] If thou wert in doubt as to what We have revealed unto thee, then ask those who have been reading the Book from before thee: the Truth hath indeed come to thee from thy Lord: so be in no wise of those in doubt.

Su [32.23] We did indeed aforetime give the Book to Moses: be not then in doubt of its reaching (thee): and We made it a guide to the Children of Israel.

8. NONE CAN ALTER OR CHANGE HIS WORDS {/Koran Surah 6:34,115}

Su [6.34] Rejected were the messengers before thee: with patience and constancy they bore their rejection and their wrongs, until Our aid did reach them: there is none that can alter the words (and decrees) of Allah. Already hast thou received some account of those messengers. Su [6.115] The word of thy Lord doth find its fulfilment in truth and in justice: None can change His words: for He is the one

who heareth and knoweth all.

Su [18.27] And recite (and teach) what has been revealed to thee of the Book of thy Lord: none can change His Words, and none wilt thou find as a refuge other than Him.

9. God’s word cannot be changed and it is a Supreme Success {/Koran Surah 10:64}

Su [10.64] For them are glad tidings, in the life of the present and in the Hereafter; no change can there be in the words of Allah. This is indeed the supreme felicity(triumph, success).

B. THE BOOKS, THE BIBLE CONFIRMS IT AS:

1. The Book of the LORD {Jeremiah 30:2; Isaiah 34:16; Malachi 3:16; Revelation 22:9-10}

Jer 30:2Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, ‘Write all the words which I have spoken to you in a book.

Is 34:16 Seek from the book of the LORD, and read: Not one of these will be missing; None will lack its mate. For His mouth has commanded,

And His Spirit has gathered them. Mal 3:16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who esteem His name.

Rev 22:9 But he *said to me, “Do not do that. I am a fellow servant of yours and of your brethren the prophets and of those who heed the words of this book. Worship God.” 10 And he *said to me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near.

2. Preserved Forever {Psalms 12:6-7; 102:18;119:89; Matthew 24:35}

Ps 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words; As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times. 7You, O LORD, will keep them; You will preserve him from this generation forever. Ps 102:18 This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD. Ps 119:89 Forever, O LORD,

Your word is settled in heaven.

Mt 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

3. Commanded to be Written {Deuteronomy 31:24; Jeremiah 30:2; Revelation 1:17-19 /Koran Surah 7:145}

Deut 31:24 It came about, when Moses finished writing the words of this law in a book until they were complete,

Jer 30:2Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, ‘Write all the words which I have spoken to you in a book.

Rev 1:17 Then I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, 18 and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades. 19 Therefore write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after these things.

Su [7.145] And We ordained laws for him in the tablets in all matters, both commanding and explaining all things, (and said): "Take and hold these with firmness, and enjoin thy people to hold fast by the best in the precepts: soon shall I show you the homes of the wicked,- (How they lie desolate)."

II. JESUS IS THE CENTRAL MESSAGE OF THE BOOKS A. JESUS IS THE WAY OF SALVATION {John 14:6,Psalms 2:12} Jn 14:6 Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. Ps 2:12 Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!

1. The Sign To All Mankind {/Koran Surah 19:21; 21:91} {Luke 1:31-32; 2:27-32; 1John 4:14}

Su [19.21] He said: "So (it will be): Thy Lord saith, 'that is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us': It is a matter (so) decreed."

Su [21.91] And (remember) her who guarded her chastity: We breathed

into her of Our spirit, and We made her and her son a sign for all peoples.

Lk 1:31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.

32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;

Lk 2:27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law, 28 then he took Him into his arms, and blessed God, and said, 29 Now Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to depart in peace, According to Your word; 30For my eyes have seen Your salvation, 31Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples, 32 A LIGHT OF REVELATION TO THE GENTILES,

And the glory of Your people Israel

1John 4:14 We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

2. Virgin Birth {/Koran Surah 3:45-47; {Luke 1:34-35; Isaiah 7:14}

Su [3.45] Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings

of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah;

Su [3.46] "He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. And he shall be (of the company) of the righteous."

Su [3.47] She said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?" He said: "Even so: Allah createth what He willeth: When He hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it, 'Be,' and it is!

Lk 1:34 Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?”

35 The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will

overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.”

Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.

3. Mercy from Us {/Koran Surah 19:21; Luke 24:44-47}

Su [19.21] He said: "So (it will be): Thy Lord saith, 'that is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us':It is a matter (so) decreed."

Lk 24:44 Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, 47and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.”

4. The Word of God and the Spirit of God {/Koran Surah 4:171; 5:110 ; John 1:1-4}

Sur [4:171] O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not "Three (Trinity)": desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is One God. Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.

Su [5:110] Then will Allah say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Recount My favor to thee and to thy mother. Behold! I strengthened thee with the Holy Spirit, so that thou didst speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. Behold! I taught thee the Book and Wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel. And behold! thou makest out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and thou breathest into it and it becometh a bird by My leave, and thou healest those born blind, and the lepers, by My leave. And behold! thou bringest forth the dead by My leave. And behold! I did restrain the Children of Israel from (violence to) thee when thou didst show them the Clear Signs, and the unbelievers among them said: 'This is nothing but evident m' agic.

 Jn 1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Su [3.45] Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah;

Mt 16:16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Jn 4:42 and they were saying to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world.”

Mt 26:62 The high priest stood up and said to Him, “Do You not answer? What is it that these men are testifying against You?” 63 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest said to Him, “I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God.”

64 Jesus *said to him, “ You have said it yourself; nevertheless I tell you, hereafter you will see THE SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, and COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN.”

B. EARLIER BOOKS, MESSENGERS AND REVELATIONS POINT AND CONFIRM A MESSIAH WHO SUFFERED, CRUCIFIED, DIED AND RESURRECTED:

1. Books of the Prophets, Angels {Isaiah 53:4-6, 12; Matthew 27:50, 28:5-7}

Is 53:4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried;

Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. 6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way;

But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.

12 Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong;

Mt 27:50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.

Mt 28:5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. 6 He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. 7Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.”

2. Christ Himself Foretold and Confirmed His Death and Resurrection {Psalms 16:10; Luke 24:44-46; John 2:19; 10:17-18}

Ps 16:10 For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.

Lk 24:44 Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day,

Jn 2:19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

Jn 10:17 For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. 18 “No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.”

3. God’s Way of forgiveness in the Old Testament Law of Moses/Torah {Exodus 19:5-6; Leveticus 16:11; 17:11}

Ex 19:5 ‘Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; 6 and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel.”

Heb 10:1For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins? 3 But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year by year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 5 Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, “SACRIFICE AND OFFERING YOU HAVE NOT DESIRED, BUT A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME; 6 IN WHOLE BURNT OFFERINGS AND sacrifices FOR SIN YOU HAVETAKEN NO PLEASURE. 7“THEN I SAID, `BEHOLD, I HAVE COME (IN THE SCROLL OF THE BOOK IT IS WRITTEN OF ME) TO DO YOUR WILL, O GOD.’ ” 8 After saying above, “SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS AND WHOLEBURNT OFFERINGS AND sacrifices FOR SIN YOU HAVE NOTDESIRED, NOR HAVE YOU TAKEN PLEASURE in them” (which areoffered according to the Law), 9 then He said, “BEHOLD, I HAVE COME TO DO YOUR WILL.” Hetakes away the first in order to establish the second. 10 By this will we have been sanctified through the offering ofthe body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time aftertime the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; 12 but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, SAT

III. ETERNAL SECURITY The Bible promises it as a present possession {John 3:365:24,

,10:27-28, 11.25-26, 1 John 5:9, 11-13}

Jn 3:36 “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

Jn 5:24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

Jn 10:27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish;

and no one will snatch them out of My hand.

Jn 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,

1Jn 5:9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son.11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

A. REPENT FROM YOUR SINS {Mark 1:15; /Koran Surah 11:52}

Mk 1:15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Su [11.52] "And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him (in repentance): He will send you the skies pouring abundant rain, and add strength to your strength: so turn ye not back in sin!"

B. ASK FORGIVENESS {Psalms 79:9 ; /Koran Surah 3:16}

Ps 79:9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name; And deliver us and forgive our sins for Your name’s sake.

Su [3.16] (Namely), those who say: "Our Lord! we have indeed believed: forgive us, then, our sins, and save us from the agony of the Fire;"-

C. BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

1. He is the I AM {John 8:24}. He is Yahweh {Exodus 3:14}

Jn 8:24 “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”

Ex 3:14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

2. Confess Jesus as the Lord and has risen from the dead {Psalms 2:1-6, 12; Romans 10:9}

Ps 2:1 Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!” 4 He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them. 5 Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying, 6 “But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain.”

Ps 2:12 Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and youperish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled.

fulfilment of all desire.

IS THE BIBLE THE WORD OF GOD THAT TEACHES THE WAY OF SALVATION?

FOUR SCRIPTURES (THE TORAH, THE PROPHETS, THE PSALMS AND THE INJEEL/GOSPEL) TESTIFYING AND CONFIRMING EACH OTHER: THAT JESUS IS INDEED THE SIGN TO ALL MANKIND AND THE MERCY FROM GOD A MATTER THAT IS ALREADY DECREED ... HE IS THE SAVIOR SENT BY THE GOD THE FATHER FOR US TO RECEIVE FORGIVENESS, SALVATION AND ETERNAL LIFE. . .

FINALLY, CRITICS SAY THAT BIBLE TRANSLATIONS OR VERSIONS DON’T AGREE WITH EACH OTHER. EACH BOOK HAS DIFFERENT MESSAGE THEY CONVEY. THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS THAT THERE ARE DOZENS OF TRANSLATIONS TODAY OF THE BIBLE AND HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF COPIES PRINTED IN THE WORLD SINCE IT WAS WRITTEN THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO AND THESE BIBLES TRANSLATED TO DIFFERENT LANGUAGES HAVE THESAME VERSES PROCLAIMING THAT JESUS CHRIST CAME WAS CRUCIFIED, DIED AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD AND THAT HE IS THE SON OF GOD OUR THE LORD AND SAVIOR. NONE OF THESE BIBLES PRINTED DENY THE DEATH, CRUCIFIXION AND RESURRECTION OF CHRIST BUT RATHER ALL HAVE THESAME VERSES PROCLAIMING THESAME. BRING ME A SINGLE BIBLE THAT DENIES HIS DEATH AND RESURRECTION. YOU SHALL FIND NONE AND THERE IS NONE. IN THE PSALMS THE PROPHET DAVID SAID, “FOREVER, O LORD, YOUR WORD IS SETTLED IN HEAVEN.” Does the Quran have Errors?Do they not then consider the Quran carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions. (Surah 4:82)

Here are the discrepancies and contradictions.

Did the Quran accept the Book of the Jews and the Christians as the word of God? Did it say that none can alter His words and it is a supreme success?

Accepted:1. They include: The Law of Moses, The Psalms, The Prophets and The Gospel 28:43; 4:163; 3:48

2. They are Enlightenment for mankind, guidance and mercy 28:43

3. There are no distinction of Messengers and Books 2:87; 2:285; 3:48

29

None can alter/change the words of God. 10:64, 6:35, 18:27

But denied earlier revelations and truth about Christ:

The Bible was completely revealed 600 years earlier before the Quran came. The Quran’s messages grossly denied the messages about Christ in the previous scriptures that Jesus is the Son of God, took the form of a man, was crucified, died and resurrected and that He is the Lord and Savior and the coming King. It altered the original messages and thus it’s not the word of God.

There is enough evidence to support the claim that the Quran may have been tampered with. Nobody knows where the original Quran is. The Quran that they have in their hands now is called the Uthman's Quran, which was collected long after Mohammed's death. Parts of the original Quran must have been lost, after many of the reciters of the Quran died or were killed in battle. Uthman, the third Caliph (successor of Mohammed) gathered what was left of the Quran, arranged it by length of Surahs rather than chronologically, then burned all other existing copies.

IS THE QURAN GUILTY OF ABROGATION AND SUBSTITUTION

AGAINST THE EARLIER BOOKS

We can find that there are flaws and discrepancies in the Quran’s statements regarding Christ. The common accusation of muslims today is that the Bible we have today is not the same Book that was revealed. It has been abrogated and corrupted by many translations and versions. The Quran denied their contemporary beliefs.

Question Number 1: 1. Did the Book of the Jews and the Christians reach Muhammad

during his time and was it accepted?

Quran’s answer : Su [32.23] We did indeed aforetime give the Book to Moses: be not

then in doubt of its reaching (thee): and We made it a guide to the Children of Israel.

Su [12:111] Indeed in their stories, there is a lesson for men of understanding. It (the Quran) is not a forged statement but a confirmation of Allah’s existing Books (the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospe) and other Scriptures of Allah) and a detailed

30

Page 31: The Bible, Quran and Salvationpastorlarrydelacruz.weebly.com/.../the_bible_quran__salvation.docx · Web viewThis message the Quran has abrogated and substituted. The Word of God and

explanation of everything and a guide and a mercy for the people who believe.

Su [10.94] If thou wert in doubt as to what We have revealed unto thee, then ask those who have been reading the Book from before thee: the Truth hath indeed come to thee from thy Lord: so be in no wise of those in doubt.

It is very clear here that the Books were accepted by the Quran and reached Muhammad’s time. This supersedes the claim that the Book was gone. Take Note though the Book has not the original copy where it was written the Quran cleared that the Book is credible. If it was not the Quran would not ask to consult the people reading their BOOK. And we know that even during Christ’s time the Scrolls they were reading were copies of the original yet the Quran confirmed its credibility. So did Christ when He said, “Search the Scriptures for in them you think you have eternal life, it is these that testify about Me.” Jn 5:39

Question Number 2:1. How did the Quran treat the Books? These include the Book of

the Jews, the Book of the Christians and the Quran?

Quran’s Answer:Su [4.163] We have sent thee inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the

Messengers after him: we sent inspiration to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the Psalms.

Su [3.48] "And Allah will teach him (Jesus) the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel,

Su [28.43] We did reveal to Moses the Book after We had destroyed the earlier generations, (to give) insight to men, and guidance and Mercy, that they might receive admonition.

The Quran is clear here. The Books were given directly and considered as an inspiration, insight and guide to all mankind.

Question Number 3?1. If that is therefore is the treatment, will the earlier Books be

corrupted, altered or changed?

Qurans Answer:Su [10.64] For them are glad tidings, in the life of the present and in the Hereafter; no change can there be in the words of Allah.

31

Page 32: The Bible, Quran and Salvationpastorlarrydelacruz.weebly.com/.../the_bible_quran__salvation.docx · Web viewThis message the Quran has abrogated and substituted. The Word of God and

This is indeed the supreme felicity (success, triumph).

The Quran said the BOOKS contain good news for this life and the next life. Therefore the message or the news can never be altered or changed for it is a message where man can know and have eternal life. None can alter the words of God. In other Quran’s translation says, “It’s a supreme success.”

. . . BUT WHAT IS THE ERROR OF QURAN NOW SINCE IT CONFIRMED THAT THE EARLIER BOOKS AND REVELATIONS CAN’T BE CHANGED. IS THE QURAN GUILTY OF ABROGATION, SUBSTITUTION AND CONTRADICTION IN ITS OWN WORDS? LET’S STUDY AND COMPARE THE REVELATIONS OF THE 2 BOOKS AND WHAT MUHAMMAD RECORDED IN THE QURAN.

The Bible VS. The Quran

The Quran is the Muslims' Holy Book, the same as is the Bible to Christians, Muslims regard the Quran as the infallible utterance of the Almighty. The word "Quran" means recitation. The name was applied by Mohammed to each individual portion of the Book, but was later used for the whole Book.

Mohammed proclaimed the Quran as the miracle that proved his prophethood. There has been, however, much debate among intellectual Muslims on the issue of the miracle of the Quran. Some Arabic scholars like az-Zamakhshari noted more than one hundred grammatical errors in the Quran.

The Quran is written in Arabic poetic prose. It is divided into 114 Surahs or chapters, and contains the religious, social, civil, commercial, military, and legal code of Islam. It also contains stories which occur in the Jewish and Christian Scriptures and Apocrypha.

The Quran, however, contradicts the Bible in many of the details of these stories, including some of the names of the people involved. When faced by these contradictions, Muslims justify them by claiming that the Bible must have been altered. Yet in no place in the Quran do we find the Omniscient (knowing everything) Allah pointing out these altered passages of the Bible, or revealing the correct ones. Such a claim can also be disputed by historical evidence, as well as by the Quran itself, which approved of the Bible, and said so repeatedly:

32

Page 33: The Bible, Quran and Salvationpastorlarrydelacruz.weebly.com/.../the_bible_quran__salvation.docx · Web viewThis message the Quran has abrogated and substituted. The Word of God and

There is enough evidence to support the claim that the Quran may have been tampered with. Nobody knows where the original Quran is. The Quran that we have in our hands now is called the Uthman's Quran, which was collected long after Mohammed's death. Parts of the original Quran must have been lost, after many of the reciters of the Quran died or were killed in battle. Uthman, the third Caliph (successor of Mohammed) gathered what was left of the Quran, arranged it by length of Surahs rather than chronologically, then burned all other existing copies.

The Bible, on the other hand, has stood the test of time. To suggest that the Bible has been altered is against both reason and historic findings.

Neither Christians nor Jews can reasonably be accused of altering their Scriptures. One reason is that they didn't have anything to gain from doing so, and if they did, they wouldn't willingly spill their blood defending it. In the book of Revelation God puts a severe punishment on those who add to or take away, any part of God's Word. (See Revelation 22:18 & 19)

The Jews were also commanded not to commit such a terrible act. (See Deuteronomy 4:2)

Furthermore, Christians and Jews did not alter their Scriptures based on historic evidence. Many manuscripts of early copies of the Bible were discovered through the years, and were found to match the text we have now. Here are some of these famous manuscript:

The Sinaitic - It was written in the middle of the fourth century, about 270 years before Islam. It contains the whole of the New Testament and a large part of the Old Testament. It is now kept in the British Museum

The Alexandrian - It was written in the early fifth century, more than 200 years before Islam. It contains the whole Bible, except a few pages that have been lost. It is also kept in the British Museum.

The Vatican - It was written in the early fourth century, about 300 years before Islam. It contains the whole Bible. It is now kept in the Vatican Library at Rome.

These and other manuscripts such as Codex Ephraemi and the Dead Sea Scrolls and the thousands of other copies or part of copies of the early Bibles prove beyond doubt that the Bible could not possibly be altered or corrupted.

CAN GOD CONTRADICT HIMSELF?

Many stories of the Bible that have been recorded in the Quran were misquoted and are contradictory to the Bible. Here are a few examples:

The Story of Cain and Abel

33

Page 34: The Bible, Quran and Salvationpastorlarrydelacruz.weebly.com/.../the_bible_quran__salvation.docx · Web viewThis message the Quran has abrogated and substituted. The Word of God and

After Cain killed his brother Abel, The Quran says that "Allah sent a raven who scratched the ground to show him how to hide the shame of his brother." Surah [5:31]. This is not mentioned in the Bible.

The Story of Noah and the flood

The Quran in Surah [11:42 & 43] says that one of the sons of Noah refused to go into the Ark and was drowned in the flood, other members of Noah’s family was saved together with some believers.

While the Bible says that all three sons of Noah with their wives and Noah’s wife, they were 8 people in all went into the Ark and were saved from the flood (Genesis 7:7, 1Peter 3:20).

In Surah [11:44] the Quran says that the Ark came to rest on top of mount Judi,

While the Bible says that it was Mount Ararat (Genesis 8:4). Archeological evidence showed today the ark was in Mt Ararat in Turkey.

The Story of Abraham

Abraham's father, according to the Quran, is Azar Surah [6:74], while the Bible says that his name was Terah (Genesis 11:26).

The Quran says Abraham had two sons, the Bible says they were eight.

The Quran says some of Abraham's descendants lived in the valley of Mecca Surah [14:37], while the Bible says they lived in Hebron (Genesis 13:18).

The Quran says that Abraham had two wives, in the Bible he had three.

The Quran says that he built the Kaaba [Surah 2:125-127]. The Bible has no record of that.

The Story of Moses

The Quran states that the one who adopted Moses was Pharaoh's wife Surah [28:9], While the Bible says it was Pharaoh's daughter (Exodus 2:5)

The Quran states that Haman lived in Egypt during Moses' time Surah [28:6], while the Bible says that Haman lived in Persia during King Ahasuerus time (Esther 3:1).

The Story of the Jews

The Quran states that the Jews worshiped (Uzair) Ezra as the son of God and God Surah [9:30, 17:56 and 19:88]. The Bible never recorded this nor there was a historical evidence of this account. When the Jews returned to

Jerusalem at the time of King Cyrus Ezra was a prophet, scribe of the Law of God and a priest (Ezra 7:6,10,12).

The Story of Mary (the mother of Jesus)

The Quran states that her brother was Aaron Surah [19:28], while the Bible says that Aaron lived 1300 years before Mary (Numbers 26:59).

That she gave birth to Jesus under a palm tree Surah [19:23], while the Bible says it was in a stable (Luke 2:7).

That Jesus spoke and made miracles at the time he was a baby Surah [19:24-26]. The Bible has no record of that. That Zacharias could not speak for three nights Surah [19:10], while the Bible says he could not speak until the child was born (or for about 9 months) Luke 1:20.

CAN GOD MAKE THESE ERRORS?

Muslims believe that the Quran is a direct utterance of Allah (God). Because God is infallible, one would expect the Quran to be infallible also. However, by examining the Quran, we are faced by many statements that go against the undisputed facts of science. It would be unacceptable if such errors were attributed to a learned human being, worse yet to attribute them to the Omniscient God. The list of the errors in the Quran is very long, and are discussed in full detail in other books. Here, we have a limited space to list only a few samples. Our goal is to question whether God can make such errors, whether God was in fact the author of the Quran.

Geographical Errors

The Earth is stationary"He created the heavens without any pillars that ye can see; He set on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with you; and He scattered through it beasts of all kinds. We send down rain from the sky, and produce on the earth every kind of noble creature, in pairs."  Surah 31:10

The Sun sets in a spring"Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a People: We said: "O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness." Surah 18:86

Historical Errors

Pharaoh built the tower of Babel in Egypt"Pharaoh said: "O Chiefs! no god do I know for you but myself: therefore, O Haman! light me a (kiln to bake bricks) out of clay, and build me a lofty

palace, that I may mount up to the god of Moses: but as far as I am concerned, I think (Moses) is a liar!" Surah 28:38

Alexander the Great was a prophet"They ask thee concerning Zul-qarnain (Alexander the Great) Say, "I will rehearse to you something of his story." Verily We established his power on earth, and We gave him the ways and the means to all ends. One (such) way he followed, Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a People: We said: "O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness." Surah 18:83-88

Ethical Errors

Legalizing perjury"God will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts; and He is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing."  Surah 2:225

Legalizing murder"O Apostle! rouse the Believers to the fight. If there are twenty amongst you, patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred: if a hundred, they will vanquish a thousand of the Unbelievers: for these are a people without understanding."  Surah 8:65

Legalizing deceit"God will not call you to account for what is futile in your oaths, but He will call you to account for your deliberate oaths: for expiation, feed ten indigent persons, on a scale of the average for the food of your families; or clothe them; or give a slave his freedom. If that is beyond your means, fast for three days. That is the expiation for the oaths ye have sworn. But keep to your oaths. Thus doth God make clear to you His signs, that ye may be grateful."  Surah 5:89

Scientific Errors

A corps leaning on a staff for a year"Then, when We decreed (Solomon's) death, nothing showed them his death except a little worm of the earth, which kept (slowly) gnawing away at his staff: so when he fell down, the Jinns saw plainly that if they had known the unseen, they would not have tarried in the humiliating Penalty (of their Task)."  Surah 34:14

A nap lasting three hundred and nine years"So they stayed in their Cave three hundred years, and (some) add nine (more)"  Surah 18:9-26

36

Page 37: The Bible, Quran and Salvationpastorlarrydelacruz.weebly.com/.../the_bible_quran__salvation.docx · Web viewThis message the Quran has abrogated and substituted. The Word of God and

Legal Errors

Scourging the witness"And those who launch a charge against chaste women, and produce not four witnesses (to support their allegations),- flog them with eighty stripes; and reject their evidence ever after: for such men are wicked transgressors;-" Surah 24:4

God ordains taking spoils"And know that out of all the booty that ye may acquire (in war), a fifth share is assigned to God,- and to the Apostle, and to near relatives, orphans, the needy, and the wayfarer,- if ye do believe in God and in the revelation We sent down to Our servant on the Day of Testing,- the Day of the meeting of the two forces. For God hath power over all things."  Surah 8:41

Since the Bible came first, and since there is every reason to believe that the Bible was kept uncorrupted, Muslim theologians have lots of explaining to do with regard to such contradictions and errors in their Book.

THE DENIALS OF THE QURAN AGAINST THE WORDS OF GOD AND JESUS CHRIST

There is a truth today in all the bible written for thousands of years and this about the deity, crucifixion, death and resurrection of Christ which the Quran has changed.

Jesus is the Son of GodThe Quran grossly denied Jesus as the Son of God. In the Bible Jesus confirmed that He is the Son of God and God the Father confirmed it.

Su [19:35] It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that he should begat a son [this refers to the slander of Christians against Allah, by saying that ‘Iesa (Jesus) is the son of Allah]. Glorified (and exalted be He above all that they associate with Him0. When Hr decrees a thing. He only says to it, “be!” and it is.

Su [19:37] Then the sects differed [i.e. the Christians about ‘Iesa (Jesus), so woe unto the disbelievers [those who gave false witness by saying that ‘Iesa (Jesus) is the son of Allah] from the meeting of a great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection, when they will be thrown in the blazing Fire).

Matthew 16:13-17 (Jesus speaking)13Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “WHO DO PEOPLE SAY THAT THE SON OF MAN IS?” 14And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.” 15He said to them, “BUT WHO DO YOU SAY THAT I AM?” 16Simon Peter answered, “YOU ARE THE CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD.” 17And Jesus said to him, “BLESSED ARE YOU, Simon Barjona, BECAUSE FLESH AND BLOOD DID NOT REVEAL THIS TO YOU, BUT MY FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN.

Matthew 26:62-66 (Jesus speaking) 62The high priest stood up and said to Him, "Do You not answer? What is it that these men are testifying against You?"  63But Jesus kept silent And the high priest said to Him, "I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are the CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD."  64Jesus said to him, "You have said it yourself; nevertheless I tell you, hereafter you will see THE SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, and COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN." 65Then the high priest (tore his robes and said, "He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have now heard the BLASPHEMY; 66what do you think?" They answered, "He deserves death!"

Luke 9:35 (God the Father speaking)35Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “THIS IS MY SON, My Chosen One; listen to Him!”

Hebrews 1:5-13 (God the Father Speaking) 5For to which of the angels did He ever say,      "YOU ARE MY SON,      TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU"?      And again,      "I WILL BE A FATHER TO HIM      AND HE SHALL BE A SON TO ME"?  6And when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says,      "AND LET ALL THE ANGELS OF GOD WORSHIP HIM."

The Crucifixion of ChristThe Quran denied the death, crucifixion and resurrection of Christ.

Surah [4:157-158] That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.

The Bible and Jesus proclaimed otherwise:

MT 16:21 From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day. MT 16:22 Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to You.” MT 16:23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.”

The Second Coming of ChristThe Hadith described Christ coming again as only a prophet, human being and not the Son of God, a Ruler and a Judge using the law of the Quran and not the Law of the Gospel, shall be against the Jews and the Christians and shall break the cross.

Hadith 55:657 Prophets (Shahi Bukhari)

Allah’s apostle said, “By him in whose hands my soul is, surely (Jesus,) the son of Mary will soon descend amongst you and will judge mankind justly (as a Just Ruler); he will break the Cross and kill the pigs and there will be no Jizya (i.e. taxation taken from non Muslims). Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it, and a single prostration to Allah (in prayer) will be better than the whole world and whatever is in it.” Abu Huraira added “If you wish, you can recite (this verse of the Holy Book):’And there is none of the people of the Scriptures (Jews and Christians) But must believe in him (i.e. Jesus as an Apostle of Allah and a human being) before his death. And on the Day of Judgment he will be a witness against them.

Hadith 55:658 Prophets

Allah’s apostle said “How will you when the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you and he will judge people by the Law of the Quran and not by the law of the Gospel.”

The Bible again 600 years before this erroneous teaching came up, the Second Coming of Christ was foretold Jesus Christ coming as the King of

Kings and Lord of Lords. He shall sit on His Throne. He shall come to destroy the wicked and those who do not believe in God and obey not His Gospel.

Revelation 17:14Victory for the Lamb 14"These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is LORD OF LORDS and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful.“

Revelation 19:16  16And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

Matthew 26:63-63 63But Jesus kept silent And the high priest said to Him, "I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are the CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD."  64Jesus said to him, "You have said it yourself; nevertheless I tell you, hereafter you will see THE SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, and COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN."

2 Thess 1:7-97and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the LORD JESUS will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, 8dealing out retribution to those who DO NOT KNOW GOD and to those who DO NOT OBEY THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus. 9These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

In this study we have investigated and examined the first declarations of the Quran that the Bible the earlier Books was indeed the word of God and none can alter it and is a supreme triumph. Changing the original revelation of the events and stories and substituting it with another is guilty of abrogation. The Quran and its Hadith changed, abrogated and substituted it. How in the world an event in the pass already done, consummated and finished can be changed by a statement?

Therefore it is the Quran that changed the Books. It even admitted and justified its forging by saying their god only substituted “better ones” and not abrogate. This is unacceptable and unimaginable. Is this not satan himself disguising himself as an angel of light and corrupting the earlier Revelations from the true God.

"None of our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: knowest thou not that Allah hath power over all things?" Surah 2:106

Did the Quran ever mention that the Books of the Jews and Christians be totally changed, lost or wiped out?Or just a partial, selected changing of words

Su [5.12] Allah did aforetime take a covenant from the Children of Israel, and we appointed twelve captains among them. And Allah said: "I am with you: if ye (but) establish regular prayers, practise regular charity, believe in my messengers, honour and assist them, and loan to Allah a beautiful loan, verily I will wipe out from you your evils, and admit you to gardens with rivers flowing beneath; but if any of you, after this, resisteth faith, he hath truly wandered from the path or rectitude."

Su [5.13] But because of their breach of their covenant, We cursed them, and made their hearts grow hard; they change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the message that was sent them, nor wilt thou cease to find them- barring a few - ever bent on (new) deceits: but forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds): for Allah loveth those who are kind.

Su [5.14] From those, too, who call themselves Christians, We did take a covenant, but they forgot a good part of the message that was sent them: so we estranged them, with enmity and hatred between the one and the other, to the day of judgment. And soon will Allah show them what it is they have done.

Here the Quran says that only a part of the message was forgotten or changed but not the whole Books was lost, changed, corrupted or wiped out. If we follow this logic it would mean that the Books remain and only a part of the message was changed. Following again this premise would mean that was left unaltered remain the word of God. The words and messages that do not contradict each other in the bible is the word of God. Even if we follow this declaration therefore a part of seemingly contradictions in numbers and few words in the Bible doesn’t invalidate the Bible itself. Therefore the Bibles we have still remain the Books.

The Books remained and believed in the Quran.Su [2.136] Say ye: "We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to Allah (in Islam)."

Then is it only a part of the Book that ye believe in, and do ye reject the rest? but what is the reward for those among you who behave like this but disgrace in this life?- and on the Day of Judgment they shall be consigned to the most grievous penalty. For Allah is not unmindful of what ye do.

The BOOKS of the Jews (The Torah) and of the Christians (The Gospel) reached Muhammad’s time.

The Quran and the Hadith (Shahi Bukhari) themselves testified of this:

Su [5:46] Subsequent to them, we sent Jesus, the son of Mary,confirming the previous scripture, the Torah.We gave him the Gospel, containing guidance and light, and confirming the previous scriptures, the Torah, and augmenting its guidance and light,and to enlighten the righteous.

Su [10:94] If you have any doubt regarding what is revealed to you from your Lord, then ask those who read the previous scripture. Indeed, the truth has come to you from you Lord. Do not be with the doubters.

Su [12:111] Indeed in their stories, there is a lesson for men of understanding. It (the Quran) is not a forged statement but a confirmation of Allah’s existing Books (the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospe) and other Scriptures of Allah) and a detailed explanation of everything and a guide and a mercy for the people who believe.

Su [42:15] . . . I believe in whatsoever Allah has sent down of the Book [all the holy Books, this Quran and the Books of the old from Taurat (Torah), or the Injeel (Gospel) or the Pages of Ibrahim (Abraham) and I am commanded to do justice among you,

. . . There is no dispute between us and you . .

THE CRITERION OF THE ALMIGHTY GOD

YAHWEH OUR LORD GOD THROUGH THE PROPHET ISAIAH MADE A CHALLENGE TO ALL FALSE PROPHETS AND GODS TO PROVE THEMSELVES.DECLARE THE PAST AND THE FUTURE AND ITS FULFILLMENT.

The Bible has hundreds of Prophecies fulfilled.The Challenge:

ISA 41:21 “ Present your case,” the LORD says. “Bring forward your strong arguments,” The King of Jacob says. 22 Let them bring forth and declare to us what is going to take place; As for the former events, declare what they were, That we may consider them and know their outcome. Or announce to us what is coming; 23 Declare the things that are going to come afterward, That we may know that you are gods; Indeed, do good or evil, that we may anxiously look about us and fear together. 24 Behold, you are of no account, And your work amounts to nothing; He who chooses you is an abomination.

DT 18:18 ‘I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.… 22 “ When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken. CRITERION OF THE BIBLE : THE PROPHECY AND ITS FULFILLMENT.

Are there prophecies in the Quran and were they fulfilled? God always gives prophesies of the future in His Books. For truly God is omniscient and knows the future and makes sure all that He has decreed shall come to past and fulfillment.

HERE'S REAL PROPHESIES FULFILLED: JUST FEW OF THE 100.

1Now the LORD said to Abram,"Go forth from your country,And from your relativesAnd from your father's house,To the land which I will show you; 2And I will make you a great nation,And I will bless you,And make your name great;And so you shall be a blessing; 3And I will bless those who bless you,And the one who curses you I will curse And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed."Fulfillment Exodus 1:1-9

1Now these are the names of the sons of Israel who came to Egypt with Jacob; they came each one with his household: 2Reuben, Simeon, Levi and Judah; 3Issachar, Zebulun and Benjamin; 4Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher. 5All the persons who came from the loins of Jacob were seventy in number, but Joseph was already in Egypt. 6Joseph died, and all his brothers and all that generation. 7But the sons of Israel were fruitful and increased greatly, and multiplied, and became exceedingly mighty, so that the land was filled with them. 8Now a new King arose over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. 9He said to his people, "Behold, the people of the sons of Israel are more and mightier than we.

Fulfillment Exodus 3.7-9

7The LORD said, "I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings. 8"So I have come down to deliver them from the power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. 9"Now, behold, the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me; furthermore, I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them.

And Exodus 12.33-41

33The Egyptians urged the people, to send them out of the land in haste, for they said, "We will all be dead." 34So the people took their dough before it was leavened, with their kneading bowls bound up in the clothes on their shoulders. 35Now the sons of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, for they had requested from the Egyptians articles of silver and articles of gold, and clothing; 36and the LORD had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have their request. Thus they plundered the Egyptians. 37Now the sons of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, aside from children. 38A mixed multitude also went up with them, along with flocks and herds, a very large number of livestock. 39They baked the dough which they had brought out of Egypt into cakes of unleavened bread. For it had not become leavened, since they were driven out of Egypt and could not delay, nor had they prepared any provisions for themselves. 40Now the time that the sons of Israel lived in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years. 41And at the end of four hundred and thirty years, to the very day, all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.

In Ezekiel 34:13, he prophesied that God would gather the exiles from the various nations to which they had been scattered and that he would restore them to "their own land."

Prophecy Ezekiel 34:13:

I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land.

Prophecy Isaiah 45:1-4

1Thus says the LORD to Cyrus His anointed, Whom I have taken by the right hand, To subdue nations before him And to loose the loins of kings; To open doors before him so that gates will not be shut: 2“I will go before you and make the rough places smooth; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron bars.

Let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah and rebuild the house of the LORD, the God of Israel; He is the God who is in Jerusalem. 4'Every survivor, at whatever place he may live, let the men of that place support him with silver and gold, with goods and cattle, together with a freewill offering for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.'"

Prophecies in the New Testament

5. Jesus prophesied that the Temple would be destroyedBible passage: Matthew 24:1-2Written: During the first century AD

In Matthew 24:1-2, Jesus prophesied that the Temple of Jerusalem would be destroyed and that its destruction would be so complete that not one stone would be left standing on top of another. His prophecy was fulfilled about 40 years later when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and tore down the Temple.

Matthew 24:1-2:

1 Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. 2 "Do you see all these things?" he asked. "I tell you the truth, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."

6. Jesus prophesied that the Jews would be exiledBible passage: Luke 21:24Written: During the first century AD

In Luke 21:24, Jesus said that Jerusalem would be trampled upon by foreigners and that the people of Israel would be forced into exile.

About 40 years after Jesus delivered that prophecy, it began to find fulfillment. The Romans destroyed Jerusalem in the year 70, and again in the year 135.

During the first destruction, Josephus, an historian who lived during the first century, claimed 1.1 million Jews died and hundreds of thousands were forced out of the country and into exile and slavery. During the second destruction, Cassius Dio, an historian who lived during the second century, claimed that 580,000 Jews were killed, 50 fortified towns and 985 villages were destroyed. The exiled Jews were taken to countries throughout the Roman Empire and eventually scattered and re-scattered throughout the world.

Luke 21:24:

They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

7. Jesus explained why Jerusalem would be destroyedBible passage: Luke 19:41-44Written: During the first century AD

In Luke 19:41-44, Jesus prophesies that Jerusalem would be destroyed because of the rejection of Jesus as the Messiah.

Although some people did accept Jesus as the Messiah, many people rejected him. In fact, the rejection was strong enough that Jesus was executed a short time after uttering the prophecy.

Luke 19:41-44:

41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it 42 and said, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. 43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. 44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God's coming to you."

THESE ARE PROPHESIES UNMATCHED BY YOUR QURAN.....

8. Jesus foretold his death and resurrectionBible passage: Matthew 20:17-19Written: During the first century

One of the unique qualities about Jesus Christ as a religious figure is that he prophesied his own death and resurrection. One example is found in Matthew 20:17-19. Each of the four Gospels of the New Testament, which were written by his followers and contemporaries, testify that Jesus was resurrected.

Prophecy Matthew 20:17-19:

17 Now as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside and said to them, 18 "We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death 19 and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!"

Fulfillment

MT 26:47 While He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came up accompanied by a large crowd with swords and clubs, who came from the chief priests and elders of the people. MT 26:48 Now he who was betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the one; seize Him.”

MT 27:22 Pilate *said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all *said, “ Crucify Him!” MT 27:23 And he said, “Why, what evil has He done?” But they kept shouting all the more, saying, “ Crucify Him!” MT 27:24 When Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that a riot was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this Man’s blood; see to that yourselves.” MT 27:25 And all the people said, “ His blood shall be on us and on our children!” MT 27:26 Then he released Barabbas for them; but after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified.

BIBLE.

The BIBLE possesses hundreds of Prophecies fulfilled and has Historical, Archeological and Scientific Evidences confirming its truth and veracity.

CONCLUSIONNo revelation from any angel can changed the original and earlier revelations. The Bible is correct and confirmed its authenticity— the Books the Law, the Prophets, the Psalms and the Gospel and the Writings of the Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Word of God remained.

God will never allow that the True Message of His words be changed nor His Books be lost. The Bible gave the Criterion of true Prophet, Book and from whom His words shall come—fulfilled Prophecies. The Quran failed in this Criterion.

Isaiah 34:16

Seek from the book of the LORD, and read: Not one of these will be missing; None will lack its mate. For His mouth has commanded, And His Spirit has gathered them.”

The Bible didn't lack and miss the teachings of the Lord. We have all the resources, archaeological, scientific and historical evidences proving the accounts and the events in the bible. The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Early Manuscripts dating even before Muhammad was born are in our possession confirming what we have. To conclude that we don't have the original language where it was written doesn't follow that it is not the word of God. WHO SAID THAT AND WHOSE CRITERIA WAS THAT? FROM GOD? OR FROM MAN? The word of God said He shall preserve it. What was preserved the material where it was written or the Words of God that shall remain? The Word of God remains and the language doesn’t matter. It is His words that shall remain and not the language where it was written because God is able to preserve it.

David said in Psalms 199:89

“Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven.”

49

Jesus said in Matthew 24:35

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.”

What is settled forever and what will not pass away. Is it the WORD OF GOD or the material where the original was written? So therefore, it is the Word of God that stays forever and shall remain. The word of God remains and remains to be the word of God even without the original copies where it is written no longer exist. Our God is powerful even if the original copies where it was written were lost which He is not after. He is able to preserve His WORD written and spoken and even in any languages. His Words are never lost. The 24,000 Manuscripts of the Old Testament (Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek) and the New Testament (5,300 Greek) (including the foreign languages where it was translated during the early to the middle centuries) we have today evidenced that His words are preserved. The Bible we have today is the same with the Scriptures circulating during the time of the First Century Christians and during and before the Time of Christ.

You can read The Gospel Truth from these manuscripts that Jesus Christ was crucified and has resurrected and is the Lord and Savior. It is written in all the Bibles even millions of them you can put your hands into this message of the Scriptures remained the same. The Book even reached Muhammad's time according to the Quran. This message the Quran has abrogated and substituted. The Word of God and the Prophesies has been written by the prophets thousands of years ago and no one can disprove and belie them.
