Smithsonian Associates seeks your help.
Do You Love Art?
We need volunteers who love art and can assist instructorsand students at our studio arts classes each quarter. No expertise in art is required; you don’t have to be able to draw or paint. You won’t be teaching and it’s a perfect opportunity to learn by observing the classes.
We are looking for volunteers to providehospitality, oversee check in/registration,configure the classroom space and assistthe instructor with simple tasks.
Volunteering in this capacity provides agreat way to learn about various artisticmediums as you can listen in on the instruction and dabble with making yourown artwork off to the side.
We offer about 50 different (non-photo-graphy) art courses each quarter – andeach one needs a volunteer assigned to it. You can choose to support coursesin such diverse categories as drawing, painting, mixed-media, calligraphy, fiber arts, sculpture and more. For afull list and course details vist our website.

Our Studio Arts volunteers select amongcourses that meet weekday mornings, afternoons or evenings, or on weekends. We ask that you be available for at leasttwo of these options, and also volunteerfor at least three of the four quarterlysessions each year.
Courses range from a few one-timeworkshops to eight weekly sessions for our many core courses (a two month time commitment.)
If these studio art classes sound enjoy-able to you, and are something that you can volunteer to do on an ongoing basis, please contact Jenna Jones at [email protected] or 202-633-8596.
