l Too high and too big. The huge development will dominate our much loved heritage buildings, the Town Hall and Public Library. 7 storeys is out of keeping with our conservation area.

l Huge pressure on transport and parking. W7 queues at rush hour already reach the Clock Tower – imagine 100s more joining the queue? Only 40 new parking spaces for 146 new flats and 67 hotel rooms!

l Lack of social housing. Zero affordable housing in a borough that desperately needs it, but big profits for the developers (£22 million).

l Insufficient schools and doctors. No plans to increase the numbers of school places and doctors.

l Loss of local independent businesses. 130 local people run thriving businesses from the Town Hall which feed the local economy. Where will they go when replaced by a hotel and a few hot desks?

l No plan for community use.Community demands for an Arts Centre could end up as rooms for private hire with no guarantee of community use.

l No detailed restoration plans. The developer has failed to set out a detailed programme for the restoration work, which is the (primary) reason for the whole development. Are they the right custodians? Haringey must demand full assurances.

The Council has leased the Town Hall site to Hong Kong-based, Cayman Islands-registered Far East Consortium for 130 years. Overwhelming local objections at

consultation have been ignored. This is our last opportunity to have our voices heard.

Plans have been submitted for a long overdue restoration of this unique building, but as part of the bargain the private developer is squeezing in

6 & 7 storey apartment blocks with no affordable housing or local infrastructure. 500 new residents plus 130 people per night in their hotel will increase pressure on

already stretched bus services, schools, doctors’ surgeries and more.
