The Electric Palace Cinema is one of the oldest purpose-built cinemas to survive with its screen, original projection room and ornamental frontage intact. It hosts a varied programme of screenings and other events throughout the year.

HMS GANGES MUSEUM, SHOTLEYThe HMS Ganges Museum located at Shotley houses memorabilia from the Royal Navy’s HMS Ganges shore training establishment for young recruits. The Museum now holds documents and photographs, as well as the ship’s honours board and clocks.

JAYWICK MARTELLO TOWER, JAYWICK Jaywick Martello Tower was built in 1809 as one of a string of over a hundred towers along the south and east coast to prevent invasion by Napoleon’s forces. Today it is an innovative arts and community venue.

LANDGUARD FORT, FELIXSTOWELandguard Fort, which overlooks the Orwell estuary has a long and rich history dating from the reign of Henry VIII. With over five hundred years as a military stronghold, the fort is now a visitor attraction with a regular visual arts programme.

BY BUS: Bus number 77 from Felixstowe station. Get off at the Carr Road stop adjacent to the turning into Viewpoint Road. Walk along Viewpoint Road for half a mile to the fort. There is a special open top bus four times a day every Wednesday and Sunday during the summer holidays which comes directly to the fort

MISTLEY TOWERS, MISTLEYMistley Towers are all that survive of St. Mary’s Church, which was designed by Robert Adam and built in 1776. The church was intended to be part of a much larger scheme to recreate Mistley as a spa town. For years the towers served as navigation points for fishing vessels on the River Stour.
