A PLACE TO CALL HOME March 10, 2019
I pray that the peace & mercy from our Father God, King Jesus & the Holy Spirit flows into each of your lives.
I had some relatives that I knew were family, but I only saw them occasionally when I was growing up. When we
were in the area & it was convenient, we would try to visit them. Of course, we loved them & treated them with
respect, after all, they were family. However, I can truly say that we did not have a relationship with them. I cannot
tell you anything prominent or important about their lives. I knew very little, if anything at all, about their history,
where they came from, what they had done, much less what their beliefs were.
So, the question looms: How much do each of us personally know about God? Is He that relative we don’t visit
or spend much time with & don’t have a personal relationship with? Do we know of Him or do we really know Him
to the point we have a close relationship with Him? Is He the God you read about occasionally, or is He the God you
have taken into your heart & call out to, “Abba….Father,” just as Jesus did in the garden of Gethsemane when His
hour had come. Mark 14:36 – “Abba, Father,” He said, “all things are possible for You. Take this cup from Me. Yet,
not what I will, but what You will.” Romans 8:15 – For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again,
but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” Galatians 4:6 – Because you
are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”
Have we wanted that personal relationship with Him, reached out to Him & heard His response? Revelation 3:20
– Behold, I stand at the door & knock; if any man hear My voice & open the door, I will come in to him & will sup with
him & He with Me. Have we listened for His written or verbal instructions & wisdom to enlighten us? 1 Cor 2:12-14
– Now we have received, not of the spirit of the world, but the Spirit Who is from God, so that we may know the
things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those
taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. Have you felt His promised presence around
you? Mat 18:20 – “For where 2 or 3 are gathered in My name, there am I among them.” 1 John 4:16 – So we have
come to know & to believe the love that God has for us, God is love, & whoever abides in love abides in God & God
abides in him. Hebrews 4:12-13 – For the word of God is alive & active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it
penetrates even to dividing soul & spirit, joints & marrows; it judges the thoughts & attitudes of the heart. Nothing
in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered & laid bare before the eyes of Him to Whom we
must give account. Have we walked with Him & carried our cross? Luke 9:23,24 – Then Jesus said to all of them, “If
anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself & take up his cross daily & follow Me. For whoever wants to
save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.”
I pray that all of us have a humble, respectful & personal relationship with God. We know what He has did for us.
We should be able to feel the love He has for all of us. John 3:16. Christ loves us so much He gave His life to cover
our sins so we could live with Him forever in Heaven.
Be sure you develop a personal relationship with God. You are half the equation & have the free will to choose
what type of relationship that will be. James 8:7 – Draw nearer to God & He will draw nearer to you. You will be
able to call out, “Abba! Father!” And He will welcome you saying: Mat 25:23 - …Well done, good & faithful servant!
You nave been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your Master!” 1Thank you, Holy Spirit for putting this lesson on my heart to share with the WSCC church family.
We praise You God & glorify Your name always! Mary Bowden
DO YOU KNOW OF HIM, OR DO YOU REALLY KNOW HIM?
Thank you, Jesus for the ability to share this information with my brothers & sisters. Mary Bowden
JESUS CONFIRMS THE DIVINE AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE
(This information is from an article by Ron Rhodes regarding
Jesus’ comments in verifying how true the Scriptures were)
Christ Himself indicated we can fully trust the prophetic
Scriptures. His view of Scripture can be stated briefly in
six statements:
1. Scripture is divinely authoritative. Jesus Himself
declared to satan, Mat 4:4 “’It is written, man shall not
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God’”
2. Scripture is imperishable. Jesus declared in Mat 5:17-
18 – “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law
or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but
to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven &
earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from
the Law until all is accomplished.”
3. Scripture is infallible. Jesus clearly affirmed in John
10:35 – “Scripture cannot be broken”
4. Scripture is inerrant. Jesus affirmed to the Father in
John 17:17 – “Your Word is truth”
5. Scripture is historically reliable. Jesus confirmed in
Mat 12:40 – Just as Jonah was 3 days & 3 nights in the
belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be 3 days
& 3 nights in the heart of the earth”. He also said in
Mat 24:37-39 – “As were the days of Noah, so will be
the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days
before the flood they were eating & drinking,
marrying & giving in marriage, until the day when
Noah entered the ark & they were unaware until the
flood came & swept them all away, so will be the
coming of the Son of Man”
6. Scripture has ultimate supremacy, Jesus told some
Jewish leaders in Mat 16:3,6 – “Why do you break the
commandment of God for the sake of your
tradition?...For the sake of your tradition you have
made void the word of God.”
Such verses affirm that Scripture is supreme over human
tradition. In view of such facts, you & I can trust every
single prophetic statement found in the pages of
Scripture. We can be confident that God’s words about
the future are reliable & true.
FACING THE SON, JESUS
There are flowers that God created which
follow the sun. They are called sun-tracking
flowers and move throughout the day
absorbing as much light as possible. Generally,
the Sunflower family (Asteraceae) which
includes more that 24,000 species follow the
sun. Some of them are marigolds & daisies.
Poppies also follow the sun opening as the
sun’s rays touch the blossoms and then close
when the sunlight fades into evening.
What a plan God had when He created these
beautiful flowers.
Even greater was God’s plan that we, as
humans, could follow the Son’s light as He
lived among man and then afterwards from
our existence here on earth looking ever
upwards toward Heaven when we will
eventually be in His light eternally.
John 8:12 - Then Jesus again spoke to them,
saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who
follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but
will have the Light of life."
John 9:5 - "While I am in the world, I am the
Light of the world."
John 12:46 - "I have come as Light into the
world."
Rev 21:23 – 23 And the city has no need for
sun or moon to shine on it, because the glory
of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its
lamp.
Rev 22:5 - There will be no more night. They
will not need the light of a lamp or the light of
the sun, for the LORD God will give them light.
And they will reign for ever and ever.

JUST HOLD ON A LITTLE LONGER Janee sings
A woman in the Bible days her last meal almost gone, but God sent Elijah to make His word known.
He said woman don’t you worry for God sent me today & before you even asked Him, help was on the
way.
Just hold on a little longer, help is on the way. A brighter day is coming to those who believe & pray.
Help won’t help tomorrow if you give up today. Just hold on a little longer, help is on the way.
Troubles of this life come by & burdens get you down. You think no one is listening you think no one’s
around. Just remember what His word says trust Him & obey. Keep your eyes toward the heavens
cause help is on the way. C.
WHY NOT HIM Debbie sings
You’ve been lookin’ for a life full of promise & hope. Sister, don’t ya know this is where your new life
begins; why not Him.
When ya finally come back to walk with Him He’ll remove your burdens & forgive all your sins; why
not Him.
Why not Him on a rainy day, why not Him to love your cares away; why not Him. Why not Him
when the nights get cold, why not Him when you’re growin’ old; why not Him.
You’ve been searchin’ from here to San Antone & all this time that you looked ya know you’ve never
been alone; why not Him. You had to see if the world was round It’s time that you learned to open
your hear again; why not Him. C.
You’ve been looking for a life full of promise & hope, sister don’t ya know this is where your new life
begins; why not Him.
BLESSED ASSURANCE Dave sings
Blessed assurance Jesus is mine. Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine. Heir of salvation, purchase of
God, born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
This is my story, this is my song. Praising my Savior all the day long. This is my story, this is my song.
Praising my Savior all the day long.
Perfect submission, perfect delight. Visions of rapture now burst on my sight. Angels descending bring
from above echoes of mercy, whisper of love.
Perfect submission all is at rest I in my Savior am happy & blessed. Watching & waiting looking above
filled with His goodness, lost in His love. C.
LET GO OF THE STONE Mary sings
You shouldn’t wade out in deep water when you don’t know how to swim. Bad choices run you over
& like a fool you followed them. Into a world full of emotion, spinnin’ out of control. It’s killing you,
but you won’t let it go.
Let go of the stone, if you don’t want to drown. In the sea of heart ache that’s draggin’ you down.
It’s pullin’ you under & you keep hangin’ on. If God’s ever gonna save you, let go of the stone.
Oh, don’t you realize the danger & the hurt you’re headed for. Put your arms around Him & swim
with Him to shore. Just let go of those bad choices, I know it’s hard to do, but He’ll be there holding
on to you. C.C.
TWO SHOES Brenda sings
It was at a little front porch sale she stopped to look around. She saw those 2 shoes, Sunday
slippers, a bargain to be found, but her husband didn’t know the Lord what good were they to him.
God said, “Just believe, you will receive,” so she took him at His word.
Well as time passed on she wondered if she’d ever see the day he’d wear those 2 shoes, Sunday
slippers & to the church house make his way. Then it happened on one Sunday morn as she started
out the door he said, “Wait for me.” she turned to see those 2 shoes walking across the floor.
And there were 2 shoes, a prayer & a promise God would keep to save the soul of the one who
wore those 2 shoes on his feet. She held them as she prayed each day as the tears ran down her
cheeks, there were 2 shoes, a prayer & a promise God would keep.
Now the preacher told of Calvary & the old rugged cross. How that Jesus came & gave His life to
save all the lost. Then he gave the invitation & she saw what brought a smile, she saw those 2 shoes,
Sunday slippers go walkin’ down the aisle. C.
WALKIN & TALKING FOR THE LORD Debbie sings
Are you walking, are you talking? Are you walking & a talking for the Lord? Are you traveling in His
light every day & every night, are you walking & a talking for the Lord?
Would you lend a helping hand to some poor sinner man? Are you walking & a talking for the Lord?
Would you stop & try to say on your journey to the grave, are you walking & a talking for the lord? C.
If your soul says testify would the world hear your replay? Are you walking & a talking for the Lord?
Would you shout His holy name, or bow your head in shame? Are you walking & a talking for the
Lord? C.
When you’re riding on your hoss, do you recognize “the Boss”, are you walking & a talking for the
Lord? As you go along your way, do you shout or do you pray? Are you walking & a talking for the
Lord? C.
