GeneralNotifier Firefighter Telephones are designed to operate in con-juction with Notifier ONYX Series Emergency Zoned AudioSystems. These telephone handsets are permanently installedthroughout a building to allow firefighters easy communicationwith the main control panel. The Firefighter Telephone stationsprovide a handset behind a locked door. Equipped with abreak glass feature, the unit can be accessed by unlockingthe door or breaking the glass section. The door is clearlyidentified with the words FIRE EMERGENCY TELEPHONEusing large white lettering for easy identification. The breakglass section clearly indicates To open use key or break glassin order to access the unit in both English and French.

In addition to the Firefighter Telephone stations, Notifier pro-vides portable Firefighter Telephone handsets which plug in topermanently installed telephone jacks throughout the building.Plugged in, the portable handset allows the firefighters to com-municate with the main control panel. As with permanentlyinstalled telephones, these portable handsets are made fromdurable ABS plastic and come equipped with a coiled cord anda male phone plug which plugs into the Firefighters telephonejack. In addition, an optional handset storage cabinet is avail-able to store up to six portable handsets. An optional flush trimring is available for the storage cabinet.

OperationThe Firefighter Telephone handset rests on a cradle inside theenclosure. Lifting the remote handset from the cradle causes abuzzer to sound and lights a Common Call indicator or a zoneindicator, if provided, at the Emergency Voice Evacuationpanel, while the caller hears a ring signal tone indicating that acall is being made.

The portable handsets plug in to the Firefighters telephonejacks, which are located throughout the building. Plugging aportable telephone handset causes a buzzer to sound andlights a Common Call indicator or a zone indicator, if pro-vided, at the Emergancy Voice Evacuation panel, while thecaller hears a ring signal tone indicating that a call is beingmade.

Architectural/Engineering SpecificationsThe remote telephone stations shall consist of a modelFT-300N Telephone Chassis Assembly complete with aBB-330N Backbox and TC-330N Flush Mount EnclosureCover with lock and break glass insert or a TC-331N SurfaceMount Enclosure Cover with lock and break glass insert. Thetelephone handset shall be made of red ABS plastic and beequipped with a coiled cord wired to the inside back terminals.The backbox and enclosure shall be finished in red bakedenamel. The door shall bear a handset symbol and the wordsFIRE FIGHTERS TELEPHONE and breakable glasss TOOPEN, USE KEY OR BREAK GLASSS in both English andFrench. Lifting the handset shall be programmed to identifyand announce a call at the Emergency Voice Evacuationpanel. A ring signal tone shall be heard in the handset until thecall has been answered.
