Last week Debbie Mayhew was the featured Kiwanian.
It was a special treat as Debbie did not take
advantage of the opportunity to advertise her business and she did include a very insightful
spiritual message. We are blessed to have her
contibutions.Jean McCormick was the speaker last week. She gave us the history of the Beaches Historical Society. As its founder, you could say it came straight from the horses mouth.
I have always enjoyed hearing about the history of the beaches area. Jean was able to speak about growing up here at a time when Third Street was a dirt road. I suppose I am torn between the attraction of a simpler time and the obvious advantages of pavement.
Jean brought along an interesting assortment of memorabilia and John Bell. I hope all of you support this worthy organization and we certainly owe Jean and her other stalwarts, like Beryl Dryden, who so selflessly worked to make this a reality. -Butch Shadwell
Please excuse the newsletter not quite being up the recent quality. Bev and I are out of town this week taking care of
her ailing father.
