CUNDOOT CREEK BRIDGE & LAGOON CREEK BRIDGE I’m pretty excited about having two new bridges constructed and completed since I started in the job. Both Cundoot Creek Bridge and the Lagoon Creek Bridge are major connections for our local communities.
Cundoot Creek Bridge will connect Morayfield Road/Market Drive, Caboolture South with Weier Road, Morayfield and the highway. It will form part of an important future road link taking pressure away from Dickson and William Berry Drive at the rear of the Morayfield Shopping Centre. This $12M project should be completed by March 2020, weather permitting.
Due to successful negotiations by Council, the $7.5M Lagoon Creek Bridge being delivered by QM Properties will connect Smiths Road to Old Gympie Road, Caboolture. With three schools on Smiths Road and only one way in and out, it has been a major headache for local residents for a number of years now. It’s anticipated these works will be completed early 2020, weather permitting. Traffic congestion in these areas was raised with me a number of years ago and I am pleased that new solutions have become a reality.

There is proposed to be billions of dollars worth of projects currently being constructed or considered for Caboolture and its surrounding areas. This includes a range of private, local, State and Federal government investment in our local schools and sporting facilities, health, public transport and road upgrades.
A combined financial commitment from Council, State and Federal government includes new roads, bridges and a hospital extension to name only a few. Council’s planned investment has triggered a huge spike in commercial investment and this is seeing the region morph into a bright new future.
Two major land estates in Caboolture are also under construction with over 1,700 residential lots approved. Based on average building costs in the region, that’s around $300 million. Our tradies are in a very good position for years to come.

Ardrossan Road Connection, Caboolture
Works have commenced between Ardrossan Road
and Elof Road, Caboolture. This final stage will see
the construction of a 450m long section of road
and will also include a road widening/upgrade to a
200m long section of Elof Road, from Cassowary
Court to Jensen Road. The project will include on-
road cycle lanes and the construction of pathway facilities. It will provide better vehicle and pedestrian
connectivity and a quicker connection for emergency services, in particular the Caboolture Hospital.

Devine Court Sports Complex, Morayfield
Located at Devine Court, Morayfield. The scope of works
includes construction of the second stage of the car park and
pathway connections. The objective of the project is to
improve parking capacity, provide bus bays and set down area
and improve access to the building facility and covered arena
constructed by the Caboolture Sports Dog Association.

Analysis has begun on the final connection for Pumicestone Road between Goshawk Court and Jensen Road, Caboolture. Four lanes and traffic lights are likely part of the scope with delivery circa 2022/23 budget permitting.

William Berry Drive, Morayfield
The intersection upgrade of William Berry Drive and Dickson Road includes the reconfiguration of approaches to improve lane designations, widening of Dickson Road to provide a left and right turn lane from Dickson Road into William Berry Drive.
The project also includes investigation to improve pedestrian crossing safety, future connectivity pathways, associated plantings of shade/street trees and road rehabilitation to scoped areas.

Moreton Bay will kick-off 2020 celebrating the very best in our community at the annual Moreton Bay Regional Council Australia Day Awards.
These awards pay tribute to the people who have gone above and beyond contributing to our community and making our region proud through their outstanding sporting, volunteer, cultural and environmental endeavours.
Alison Taylor (pictured) has been named 2020 Citizen of the Year for her dedication to fostering the arts in Dayboro, which is no small feat in a community renowned for its cultural appreciation.
Meanwhile, the 2020 Young Citizen of the Year is Evelyn Robinson, who has been recognised for her tireless contribution to local charities including Rize Up Australia and the Redcliffe Breakfast Club.

Lunar New Year
Undoubtedly the biggest story for our region this year will be the opening of USC’s Moreton Bay Campus in Petrie.
Despite our region being home to more than 460,000 people and one of the fastest growing communities in Australia, Moreton Bay suffers from a significant undersupply of tertiary education options, and most students in the region travel many hours each day to attend university.
This has led to tertiary education levels in some parts of our region being lower than outback Australia. However, this is about to change with the opening of USC Moreton Bay which is expected to be home to 10,000 students in 10 years. It will be our region’s first full-service university campus, it is Australia’s first greenfield university development in 20 years, and it forms a central part of council’s transformational The Mill at Moreton Bay project.

support Moreton Bay’s growing population. It will feature a dedicated innovation and knowledge precinct which will create significant opportunities for employment and investment in our region including 6,000 ongoing jobs and almost $1 billion in economic activity.
It will also support our community allowing young people to remain in Moreton Bay Region close to their families for study and employment, while also creating new and vibrant civic spaces.
