Interactive Spanish video games
at the Instituto Cervantes de Manila
Video games are no longer just a form of entertainment. The industry, itscustomers and its technology have immensely progressed in the past threedecades. With the entertainment software now becoming as one of the fastestgrowing industries, video games are interactive artworks now embedded in ourdaily life.
Instituto Cervantes de Manila presents "Arsgames: Past and Present of theVideogame in Spanish," an interactive exhibit that features audio-visual samplesof the Spanish video games from the beginning of the cultural and economicactivity of the 1980s to the present evolution in the last years. The exhibit runsfrom Sept. 14 to 30.
"Arsgames: Past and Present of the Videogame in Spanish" is organized byInstituto Cervantes de Manila in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy in thePhilippines and the Spanish Agency International Cooperation for Development(AECID).

Twelve artists at ArtistSpace
Featuring the works of twelve artists, "Diversities" celebrate the degree ofvariation that an artist can produce and the manifold styles of artists in thePhilippines today. Monnar Baldemor, Aaron Bautista, Joey Cobcobo, CarlosFrancisco II, Honesto Guiruela III, Derrick Macutay, Dennis Sio Montera, TadPagaduan, Herbert Pimpiño, Christian Regis, Marga Rodriguez, and Isidro Santosheadline this group exhibit.
Perhaps a brainchild of ceratin mixtures, "Diversities" is with quite a variety ofstyles ranging from abstraction, to painting-installation, back to figuration.
"Diversities" officially opened on Sept. 15 at Ayala Museum ArtistSpace. Thepublic have the chance to view the exhibit until Sept. 28. ArtistSpace is located atthe second-floor Glass Lane of Ayala Museum, Makati Ave. cor. De la Rosa St.,Greenbelt Park, Makati City, accessible via Greenbelt 4 walkway. Admission to thegallery is free. Jenny Cortes at the Crucible Gallery
Jenny Cortes opened "Galâ-isipan," a solo exhibition of sculptures at The CrucibleGallery, fourth floor, Building A of SM Megamall on Sept. 20. "Galâ-isipan"(Daydreamer) is an imaginative exploration of biomorphic forms. The works drawinspiration from varied sea, air and terrestrial creatures. The relief, mobile,free-standing and functional works are presented for interactive appreciation.Done in wood, each piece is handcrafted using traditional techniques ofwoodworking. This is the artist's seventh solo exhibit. It runs until Oct. 2. Fordetails, call 635-6061.
Gantimpala Theater presents Ibong Adarna
After the successful back-to-back run of the historical dramas Kanser (Noli MeTangere) and El Filibusterismo, Gantimpala Theater presents the enchantingIbong Adarna, a play based on the Corrido at Buhay na Pinagdaanan nang TatlongPrincipeng Magkakapatid na Anak ng Haring Fernando at nang Reina Valeriana saKahariang Berbania, written by Ed Maranan, under the direction of Roobak Valle.
Three dons and brothers from the Kingdom of Berbania, Don Pedro, Don Diegoand Don Juan set out to capture the illusive creature, as commanded by their

Yuchengco Museum launches
culture and media program
Yuchengco Museum recently launched Culture and Media, a new programdirection for cultural information and education to center on media practitionersand writers. One of the initiatives under this program is Writing about Arts andCulture, a series of workshops that will teach writing about arts, culture andheritage for a wider audience. In partnership with Writer's Block Philippines(WBP), a memorandum of agreement was signed on Sept. 12 by WBP foundersNiña Terol-Zialcita and Nikka Sarthou and museum curator Jeannie Javelosa.
