Did You Know…The Roman Catholic church on Indian Island is the third building on that site. The current church was built in 1897. Money was raised by the Mi'kmaq people hold-ing picnics as well as through government assis-tance. The foundation was made of stone from Quarry Island and the lumber was from Spencer MacDonald's mill in French River. Every year on the weekend closest to the Feast of Saint Anne (July 26th) a celebration is still held by the Mi'kmaq people which is the only time through-out the year when the Island has any amount of activity.

Thank-You!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the residents of District One for their ongoing support over the past four years. I appreciated your kind words of congratulations as we celebrated the births of our four granddaughters. You made my job to serve on council as your municipal representative a pleasant one. After four years of close examination of the 14 Districts in the Municipality of the County of Pictou, I am convinced that we live in the best one! Although I am not putting my name forward in the upcoming municipal election, I look forward to a strong finish to my term over the next few months. Once again, thank you.

Sincerely, Councillor Sally Fraser, District One, 902-753-6830
