DISPLACMENT ……….. The moving of something from its place or position. The removal of someone or something by someone or something else that takes their place.

The feeling of constant neglect , being unwanted, not needed, unliked …A common feeling to the normal Australian teenager ….

Page 3: Displacment

The only difference is …

Page 4: Displacment

We do it to our selves and eachother..

Page 5: Displacment

Empathy ….

Empathy is the ability to understand and feel how other people are feeling.

The Rabbits By John Marsden

Page 7: Displacment

The book “The Rabbits” is a written about the the Europeans

making their way onto the Australian border and over running the Aboriginals and

claiming the land as their own ..

Page 8: Displacment

The book has a small colour variation range. It has 3 main colours reds, yellows and dark

blues .The colours and pictures are very

mutual toned and they bring down your mood dramatically

through out the book .

Page 9: Displacment

The imagery through out the book is very specific and very symbolic .

For example :The rabbits used through out the book , are white . The English who came to Australia were a pasty colour of white as they had just made the tortuous journey from England.

Another reason they used rabbits , may be because rabbbit’s breed really easily and quickly as did the English .

Quickey Over Taking the land….

I chose this page to look at and breakdown because to me I think it tells the most of a story , out of all the pictures.

The first thing I see is the massive ship that looks slightly distorted making it interesting to look at . The hip also has a distinct point facing towards East also causing you to look at the rabbits dressed in almost human like clothes.

Page 11: Displacment

The images through out the book are very well drawn and thought out . The whole book is very depressing and the pictures give of the feeling of being unwanted , and show that they are not wanted or listened too. That they feel small and without a voice..

Page 12: Displacment

What extent will you go to , to save what you love . When it’s the only thing you have ever known ??..................

Migrant Hostel . Parkes, 1949-51

• Is a poem written , and based around the life of a migrant , living in Australia at a camp, Base and home for migrants .

Page 14: Displacment

• The story line and symbolisms are hard to get at the first read, but after I read it 2-3 times it began making more and more sense.

Page 15: Displacment

“Sought each other out instinctively like a pigeon, Circling to gets its bearings: years placing names ,and accents “ …

Throughout the Poem you began to see just how desperate they are to find someone from a similar country or accent.

Page 16: Displacment

“A barrier at the main gate sealed off the highway”…

• Gives you a vivid image of being confined , trapped like “A bird in a cage “ .

• “A barrier” .. It shows and tells that they were confined and closed off from the rest off the world.

Page 17: Displacment

“No one kept count of the coming's and goings ‘…

• Negative Imagery generates an atmosphere that is disorganised and chaotic.

• also creates the sense of being in a transit camp , very uneasing and almost unsafe..

• Rabbit proof fence is the story of three young girls (sisters) who were forcefully removed from their family , and put into a sort of camp to transform their way of live to the english way of life.

Page 21: Displacment

• The displacemnt through out the storyline is very upfront and personal or confronting.

Page 22: Displacment

What did they ever do us , except for be the first eve Australians to live on this land ??

Page 23: Displacment

“This is a true story - story of my sister Daisy, my cousin Gracie and me when we were little. Our people, the Jigalong mob, we were desert people then, walking all over our land. My mum told me about how the white people came to our country. They made a storehouse here at Jigalong - brought clothes and other things - flour, tobacco,

tea. Gave them to us on ration day. We came there, made a camp nearby. They were building a long fence. “

Page 24: Displacment

This was the opening sentence to the movie .To me it implies that the girls were never fully told what was men’t by the fence . From their view they were just building a really long fence. They didn’t know that it was really just built to separate the native Australians (Aboriginals ) from the newly moved in English/ White Australians.

Page 25: Displacment

I am honestly ashamed to know that I come from a race of human beings that would do this to one another .

The Tho

Page 26: Displacment

No one should ever feel that they are unwanted or not needed .Because honestly you may it feel it, or know it at the time. But everyone has that special person or people that make them who they are, those people that you couldn’t live with out…

Page 27: Displacment

Displacemnt in Australia ..95% of the people who feel it are teenagers aged 12-19.And is only caused because of teen bitchiness and bullying…In my opinion it all leads to one thing ..

POWER

Page 29: Displacment

We all have the need to feel powerful . And a way to feel powerful is knowing that any little thing or action you do towards someone else or another race or religion affects them and how they live their day to day life., How they feel , about their selves and their environment.
