What a productive and busy year we have had. We have had many special events, new developments and have seen all students achieving new learning outcomes. I would like to say congratulations to each and every student on their progress this year.

I would like to take this opportunity to again thank staff for their hard work, dedication and creativity. We have a wonderful team of teachers, teaching assistants and support staff, and each person plays an important part in the day to day running of DIS.

I would also like to thank the parent community for their support throughout the year, and in particular those parents who have volunteered in classrooms, the Extra Curricular Program, by

driving, or in any other capacity.

I would like to wish all students, families and staff a safe and happy Christmas break.

This term in Junior Craft Club we have continued making a range of fun things using color paper, glue, sticky tape, scissors, drinking straws, ribbons, paper fasteners, staplers and glitter. We made a basket of fl owers, a fairy wand, a clock, a fl ap book and fi nger puppets. The students especially enjoyed making the fairy wands and creating their fl ap books. Amra decided to draw only happy faces and called her fl ap book “My Happy Family.” The students loved making gifts for their parents and other adults who are important to them, and if they fi nished in time liked to make another one for their mother, father, sister or brother. Some of our craft projects can get a bit messy, but the students love these activities and always clean-up well when we fi nish. All the students work really well in Junior Craft, but I would like to mentioned Fitun and Mica, who often fi nish their projects ahead of time, and then help other students to fi nish and clean up. What a lot of fun we’ve had!

Jewellery Club Jewellery Club is fortunate to have several very enthusiastic, committed and talented jewellery makers again this term - Amara, Prajita, Tiffany and Tata.

Although the students are encouraged to make jewellery out of recycled jewellery and other material, the current trend sees most interest in creating beaded jewellery – necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

Last term we had 14 participants, this term many students have decided to try their hand at other activities before the end of the year and just 4 or 5 regulars each week.

Students offer their creations for sale at the fi nal assembly each term.
