Stephanie Soza Discussion Question 3 (Chapter 6-1) I would try not to implement too much technology in my classroom. With preschoolers, they should be focused more on exploring their environment and learning though different experiences. With children of this age, I don’t do many presentation like another teacher might with older children. By using technology, it could take away from their natural curiosity and want to learn. However, I think there are some tools that would be helpful in the classroom. I would mainly use them for certain occasions. I might use one on a one-on-one basis, such as mobile devices. For example, I could download an app on an iPad that includes simple phonic games. If a child in the classroom is having difficulties leaning their alphabet, or if they have a unique interest in it, I would work with them individually using the iPad to further improve their skills. Another instrument I might use is a camcorder. With this, I could record the children at various times during the day. If I have a child that has been working towards meeting the goal of accomplishing a certain task, I could record when they’re practicing or master it. The parents might like to see what their children are doing during the day, so I could send them the clips of their children. A video conferencing system could be used as a fun way of interacting with other students from the classroom. Once a week, I could set up a call with a different preschool and allow the children to ask children, play games, and talk with the other students through the video conferencing system. The other preschool could be from somewhere within the community, a different state, or even a different country. By implementing these pieces of technology into my preschool classroom, I can provide new learning experiences for the children. At the same time, it won’t take away from the
