CURIOSITY WORKSHOP (in German and French)
Experiencing sounds in nature and visit a rehearsal for the concert “Baroque Twitter”
The recorder? Everyone learns to play it in kindergarten! Well, yes, but anyone who would like to play like a virtuoso must practice a great deal. The recorder was a very popular instrument 300 years ago, as popular as the electric guitar is today. Composers thus employed the instrument in large variety of manners, for example, in imitation of bird calls in the works performed in the concert “Baroque Twitter”. How did Vivaldi do this?
In this workshop, we will go outdoors to listen to the sounds of nature and record them. We will create music built around these sounds and then listen to how Baroque composers did this in their works. We will be able to visit the rehearsal with the Basel Chamber Orchestra and personally meet the orchestra musicians as well as soloist Maurice Steger.
PRICE: CHF 15.– per child (dependent on availability). Free of charge for children from the regions of Saanenland, Obersimmental and Pays-d’Enhaut.
