OUR HISTORY - THE BLACK DIAMONDUnlike a lump in your stocking, this coal is good news!

The name Black Diamond comes from the high grade coal (known as Anthracite) that was once mined here. Commonly known as hard coal, the name doesn’t reflect it’s true character as the highest ranking of all coals.

Anthracite (or Black Diamond as it was called) has the highest carbon content,the fewest impurities, and the highest energy density of all types of coals.

The mine site and coal seams are still visible today along the Friendship Trail.

Black Diamond is located in Foothills County in Southern Alberta, Canada, located just south west of Calgary
