Discount/Markdown- the amount by which the regular price of an item is reduced or lowered. Discount is subtracted.

Example: Alan wants to buy a set of skis that has a regular price of $150. This week, the skis are on sale at 25% discount.

What is the discount or the amount saved?

discount is $7.50 To find the new price you subtract 7.50 from 25. The new price is $17.50.

Add all of the items together to get a total of $5.04. Then find the tax. The tax is $0.33. Add the tax to the $5.04 and the total price is $ 5.37.
