HomeFlow and Mei-Naki Ltd, Jerusalem, Israel
Homeflow is the vision of Peter Wiseburgh, an international entrepreneur who, as founder and CEO of Soda-Club developed, between 1990 and 2007, the manu-facture and marketing worldwide of both Sodastream and Soda-club in-home carbonation systems in Israel. Peter is based in Jerusalem, Israel.
Homeflow follows on from Peter's experience with carbonated soft drinks but is concerned with the supply of potable water to under privileged communities deprived of safe drinking water.More than 1 billion people worldwide are daily vulnerable to water borne disease. The Homeflow concept encompasses 'Safe Water Stations'(HSWS), each installed to facilitate easy access for consumers at the centre of a small community (750 t0 3000 people). Each HSWS is designed to dispense potable water on demand at an affordable price of around $0.02 to $0.05 per 10 litres. The means of payment intended is by pre-payment and purchase of an IC card carrying credit for at least 1000 litres which can be used in any hsws in the same way as a credit card.
Homeflow's key to ensuring safe water is the application of ozone (O3). O3 is a compound of 3 Oxygen atoms and the most powerful disinfectant available. it is produced in HSWS by a process known as ‘Corona Discharge’. When applied in HSWS ozone will destroy all microbiological contamination in accordance with the water purification Standard of USEPA. it disinfects at least 100 times faster than Chlorine but without leaving behind Chlorine's unpleasant taste, smell and disin-fection by-products(DBPs).
Patents for the Homeflow process have already been registered in several coun-tries including Australia, Mexico, Singapore, South Africa, Russia and the Chinese application has been approved for registration. Applications are being examined in many other countries. The process has been tested in the USA by the Water Quality Association laboratories and certified as meeting the 'US EPA Standard for Microbiological Water Purification'. The most critically important aspect of the Standard is the requirement for 6 log reduction of bacteria. it means that no more that 1(one) bacteria in a million survives. Among the other advantages of ozone, this level of disinfection enables safe water to be maintained in the consumer’s closed container at home for at least 48 hours.

HomeFlow and Mei-Naki Ltd, Page 2Jerusalem, Israel
Surface or ground water may be used to supply HSWS. it is intended that the Homeflow concept integrate other known technologies at a Filtration Centre(HFC) at the ground or surface water source. the HFC may include rough filtration to reduce high levels of turbidity followed by BAC, Diatomaceous Earth filtration for 0.5 NTU turbidity and where necessary capacitive deionisation to reduce Arsenic and Fluorides. Filtered water at the HFC is to be stored and the water piped on demand to multiple HSWS installations in the general vicinity of the HFC. Electri-cal power for Homeflow will be supplied by solar energy.
Operations & Maintenance expenses are estimated for the entire process from the source of water to the consumer's container to be circa $2.00 per 1000 litres. A cluster of HSWS in close proximity allows economy of scale for a small but professional full time maintenance team.
To date the company has been financed from Peter's sources. He is seeking financial or strategic partners to support the development of a scaled up HSWS in Israel demonstrating its capabilities to be followed by the first HFC at a BETA site both of which it is intended to complete within 18 months to 2 years from kick off.
Subsequently it is intended to profitably manufacture the essential parts of HSWS in Israel and less critical parts in those countries in which HSWS is to be installed. For the time being Peter’s focus is on the Indian rural market and Afri-can urban. Financing following an initial investment of €1.25mio will be according to achievement of Milestones. Total investment during the first three years in estimated at €7 mio..

Business Opportunity:AMS has developed a range of online & real-time, automated and unattended, 24×7 water metrology systems that measure high-value regulated contaminants in drinking water to provide actionable information to the water treatment indus-try to enable process optimization. Analytical tools traditionally used to address high-value regulated contaminants in drinking water are expensive, located in laboratories remote to the water treatment works, require skilled operators and do not provide actionable information.
Value Proposition:Managing DBP levels in a water utility to meet compliance levels is operationally challenging. A number of variables can influence DBP levels that can change within hours. Currently utilities facing this problem have no real-time means of monitoring DBP levels, to control how they trend in the plant or along the distri-bution line to the points of consumption. Consequently, water utilities will over-treat in order to be on the safe side. This gives rise to unnecessary operating and capital costs and CO2 emissions, which online & real-time monitoring can help manage. Intermittent and time-delayed grab samples do not support the optimisation of water production to manage DBP levels. An online and real-time system provides actionable information that enables water treatment works to more efficiently manage the water treatment process by identifying cost savings on the commodities and the replacement frequency of capital components in the water production process, eliminate government fines, and provide a prophylac-tic to prevent public announcements of poor water quality. All of these factors positively affect the water utility shareholder value.
Market Opportunity:The worldwide market for online, automated metrology for Disinfection By-Products (“DBPs”) is untapped with the Total Available Market (TAM) for this initial product family in excess of £1bn and TAM for annual reagent sales esti-mated at c. £300m pa. Serviced Available Markets (SAMs) are typically in the region of 15% of the TAM for these product families.
Product Family:Drinking Water Metrology Systems; Instruments, Reagents and Consumables:Disinfection By-Products Contamination: The THM-100, the Company’s first pro-duct, is an online, real-time metrology system measuring trihalomethanes, a regulated by-product of the chlorination disinfection process, along with reagents and other consumables. A near-term product line extension for haloacetic acids, the HAA-PCU, will be available in 2012.

Intellectual Property:- Exclusive, Worldwide, Non-Restrictive, IP license for Water and Environmental Fields of Use to 13 issued patents related to sample handling and quantitation of aqueous solutions;- A PCT Application specific to the detection of THMs in potable water; and- A HAA-specific Provisional Patent Application.Distribution Strategy:The long-term key route to market will be through strategic distribution partners (e.g. global instrumentation companies), which are expected to be in place by mid-2012. Initial distribution of its products will be supported by strong regional value-added resellers and distributors, plus direct sales to key strategic water utilities.
Product Status:Four THM-100 evaluation units have recently completed successful trials in Spain, Scotland, Wales and Ireland (one of which was located at the most chal-lenging water treatment works in Europe) A further five (+) evaluation units have recently been or are soon to be placed in USA, Southern Europe and Asia-Pacific. Commercial sales will commence towards the end of the second quarter of 2012 and accelerate during the remainder of 2012.
Competition:The AMS proprietary technology addresses metrology needs for which there are no directly competitive products.Team and Company:The Company is led by experienced executives, with many years of early-stage company success, and with a focus on the development of automated analytical metrology. AMS is incorporated under the Laws of England and Wales and is located in the UK and Sunnyvale, California.
Future Product Roadmap:- Mid Term Product Goal - Microbiological Contamination: This product line will focus on reagents and new, rapid, sample preparation methods to detect high-value microorganisms.- Longer Term Product Goal - Hazardous Organic Contamination: This product line will focus on solutions for detecting hazardous pesticides, herbicides, mollu-scides, and pharmaceutical waste.

Investment Opportunity:Series A and Series B funding of £2.2m has been provided by current investors to bring AMS to the point of product commercialisation of the DBP product family. A further c. £3.1m of Series C funding is required to complete that com-mercialisation and reach cash breakeven at the end of 2012. Current investors have underwritten part of this amount, of which c. £1.1m has been drawndown, leaving c. £2.0m additional to be raised now.
Revenues from the DBP product family and reagents are expected to grow to c. £24m pa by 2015, generating EBIT margins in excess of 25%. Gross aggregate cash flow during 2013 to 2015 is expected to be c. £9.5m. It is estimated that c. £5.0m of new Series D money may be required to develop & commercialise the Microbiological and Hazardous Organics product lines during 2013/14, of which part could be provided from the ongoing cash flow of DBP products.
Exit Strategy:The underlying technology, revenue and gross margins, plus product portfolio and market acceptance will provide the Company with several exit opportunities.

PiMON GmbH
The Munich-based company PiMON develops a monitoring technology that uses previously installed fibres alongside pipelines as sensors.
Noise, fluctuation in temperature and strain alongside the fibres are detected and localised precisely. Dangerous situations, such as unauthorised construction works that could cause leakages, set off an alarm, which in turn indu-ces an immediate inspection. Thus, damages are limited or even prevented.
Prototypes of this technology have been successfully tested and currently a test installation is undergoing field trials.
The technology can also be adapted to power lines and all kinds of elongated structures.

Flores Solar Water GmbH
Flores Solar Water GmbH (FSW) is the solution provider for solar based desalination. FSW offers a unique solar water purification system on a distillation basis – the Solar Water Cell (SWC).
The company completed the development of the Solar Water Cell in 2011 and starts with the production. SWC produces pure drinking water as a modular, stand-alone, off-grid solution at the point of use, and can also be combi-ned to solar water parks. This is a new approach in terms of ecological, zero emission desalination.
The FSW addresses a market of roughly one billion people living in sun belt areas around the world without access to clean drinking water. FSW plans to be the leading company in ethical and ecologically sustainable solar water purificati-on.

Join us at WATERVENT PhiladelphiaNovember 15th, 2012
®
On November 15, 2012 WaterVent is coming to North America.
Recognized as one of America’s leading green initiative cities, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Woodcock Washburn Intellectual Property Law will be our host for WaterVent’s fifth matching event.
North America is quickly becoming a hotbed of water innovation – five Water Innovation Clusters have been established in the last 2-3 years alone, and more water innovation conferences are popping up every few months. University com-mercialization and SME economic development initiatives offer fertile ground for business expansion in the water technology innovations.
WaterVent Phildadelphia 2012 will bring entrepreneurs, investors and intere-sted parties from around the globe together with this North American dynamism.
