Director’s LetterManny is so excited to be back at the historic Crighton Theatre and work-ing with the wonderful Stage Right producers, Steve and Carolyn Wong. Singin’ in the Rain will go down as one of my favorite shows to have had the opportunity to work on. I can’t thank Dinah Mahlman enough for her fabulous choreography and making the show the wonderful production you will enjoy tonight. I have worked with Ana Guirola Ladd for the past 15 years and I have a great respect for her talent and ability as a musical director. Also, I’d like to thank Amber Babcock our Assistant Musical Direc-tor, for her great talent. And for the extraordinary set designing and the set building talent of Dennis O’ Connor our Master Carpenter. Also, De-nise’s fantastic artistry makes every set come alive. How fortunate I am to have her lend her talent to Singin’ in the Rain. And of course, thanks to our fabulous Costume Lady Marieda for her elegant vision. I have been very blessed through the years and working with the cast and production crew of Singin’ in the Rain is counted in those blessings. They have been fantastic to work with and I can’t tell you how privileged I am to have had the oppor-tunity to work with each and everyone involved in this productionof Singin’ in the Rain.

Manny CafeoDirector

From the ProDucers:“You have got to be out of your minds!!” That was the response we got when we told people we intended to produce Singin’ in the Rain on the Crighton stage. We had clearly gone ‘round the bend thinking we could pull off such a technically challenging show (which includes numerous rap-id scene changes, extravagant period costumes, filmed sequences mixed with live action and rain of all things!). Additionally, this show is such an iconic piece of cinematic history: how could we possibly find people that can fill the tap shoes of Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds? Well, sometimes it pays to be a little bit crazy. We had faith that, as has happened in the past, just the right people would show up and help us cre-ate the magic you will see before you tonight. Show up they did: rolled up their sleeves, tied on their tap shoes and got to work. It truly took a village to create this show and we are so grateful for everyone’s monumental ef-fort to honor the memory of a movie so loved by so many. The unrelenting pursuit of excellence dictated by our director Manny Cafeo inspired cast and crew to keep working; no matter how late in the day or how arduous the task. We hope you enjoy this bit of lunacy, and now, on with the show!Steve & Carolyn Wong

LORELEI ACUÑA (Dancer) Singin’ In The Rain is Lorelei’s first time performing for Stage Right at Crighton Theatre and she’s excited to share with you such a great cast and show. Outside of show biz, Lorelei paints, draws, and plays guitar. Best wishes sent to the audience and get ready for a great show that will leave you “Fit as a Fiddle”!

DAVID ALFF (Sid Phillips) This is David’s second ap-pearance with Stage Right. Previously he played The Principle in Hairspray. He has also been as-sociated with Playhouse 1960. He is a Texan by choice, having moved from the northeast shortly after college with his loving, and supportive, wife of 50 years. Thanks to his parents, he developed a love affair with the theatre that spans over 60 years and includes having attended productions in the U.S., Europe, Canada and Asia. He is married, retired, lives on Lake Conroe, has two grown sons, four grandchildren and is an avid tennis player.

AMBER BABCOCK (Wardrobe Mistress/Chorus/Vocal Coach) Amber performed in Gilbert and Sul-livan’s HMS PINAFORE at the age of 12 and by 17 was singing with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Lyric Opera Chorus. There, she was affiliated with the Peninsula Civic Light Opera Company, later with the Schenectady Light Opera Company in New York, the Jakarta Players in In-donesia, and The Stage Club in Singapore where she also formed a professional a cappella swing group, Mood Swings. Amber wrote, directed & choreographed Austin’s Murder Mystery Musicals (a dinner theatre entertainment company) and was a founding member of the NorthxNorthwest Theatre Company in Austin. Having moved to Conroe in 2013, she directed her first comedy – The Dixie Swim Club – at the Crighton. It’s been great fun doing this show and enjoying the posi-tive energy of the staff and cast. Umbrellas will never look the same…

During the day she keeps her dental assisting job and prefers to entertain her patients in lieu of laughing gas. For fun, she will occasionally train for a Muay Thai box-ing match. She likes coffee and long walks on the beach... She’d like to thank God, for making this life possible. Thanks to her family, her superman Spen-cer, for his encouragement, support and for turning her into an almost diehard Seahawks fan. Finally, THANKS to the beautiful cast of Singin’ in the Rain!

A Journey of Hope

The Crighton Theatre234 N. Main Street • Conroe, TX 77301

By Horton FooteIn this beautifully crafted American masterpiece from Texas playwright Horton Foote, elderly Carrie Watts just wants to visit her hometown of Bountiful, TX, once more before she dies. The air by the river, the song of the red bird, and the feel of the soil in her fingers are all she desires,

yet her plans seem thwarted by her hyper-vigilant son and controlling daughter-in-law, but the journey to realize her last wish examines love, hope, and faith.

SHREK THE MUSICAL, In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre - not a handsome prince - shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand...and his name is Shrek. Based on the Oscar® winning DreamWorks film, Shrek The Musical brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to dazzling new life on the stage.
