Harvey is a piece of American theatre history, but for most people their only experience with the work is the 1950 film starring Jimmy Stewart. Some theatre directors might rebel against that, but why? Use the audience’s familiarity with the movie as a way to engage them. That doesn’t mean to give them the characters and sets and costumes and all as they are in the movie—because you can’t—but allow them to come into the world of Elwood and Veta Louise and Dr. Chumley that is comfortable to them. Our production is seeking to do just that. The look and feel of the show is that of a black and white movie, but the play is all theatre.

The trick with a play like Harvey is to find the very best actors to work with. That doesn’t mean they come in walking and talking like the characters. It means that you look for actors you can push to improve and challenge to stretch from what they have done before. When you can do that, you can give the audience a great time at the theater because what they ultimately see hasn’t come easily or been shorthanded—it has been worked for and sweated over. So if this all looks easy…then we have done our jobs. Effort begets ease. The actors who have been pulled together for Harvey understand that and have put in that effort. But of course, no show is complete until the audience sits in the house and the lights fade. We hope that you will become that most integral part of our production.

Before we get started, I would be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to thank those who helped make sure this production is everything we have worked towards. To Steve and Carolyn, thank you for this wonderful opportunity to play in your house. To my cast, thank you for following me on this crazy road trip. You guys are awesome. To Debra Schultz, you helped make me the best I can be. Words will never be enough to say how much it’s meant to me. Without you I wouldn’t be the director I am today. To mom and dad and family, thanks for never telling me no. You gave me my wings. To my dear friend Glen Lambert, thank you for starting the journey. We miss you brother.

And finally; you the audience. I invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy. And if Harvey happens to be sitting in your seat…can you please send him backstage.

MiKe ANDeRSON (Dr. Lyman Sanderson) is honored to be doing his second show here at the Crighton Theatre. He was last seen on stage star-ring in White Christmas as Phil Davis at PH1960. He studied at North Carolina School of Perform-ing Arts and received his bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and Theatre Arts. Mike is originally from North Carolina but got to Texas as soon as he could. Mike is no stranger to the The-atre though with credits like Forever Plaid (Jinx), Oklahoma! (Curly), The Full Monty (Jerry), The Producers (Leo) and Lend Me A Tenor (Max). Mike also has directed several shows on a main stage like My Way and Over the River and Through the Woods and was the musical director for Smoke on the Mountain and Chicago! Recently Mike was the Tech Director and Music Director for San An-gelo Broadway Academy where he worked and built massive sets for such shows as Beauty and the Beast, Narnia, High School Musical and many other youth theatre shows. Mike is contracted with QVC shopping channel to do live presenta-tions of products that has done very well on QVC at places like Sam’s club or BJ’s. He enjoys his job very much meeting people and getting a chance to speak to them! Mike is proud of his two daugh-ters Chelsea, and Katelyn who share the same passion in theatre often.

TRAViS BRYANT (Duane Wilson) is very happy to be part of this great cast. Previous credits include: Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (Sherriff Dodd); Julius Caesar (Brutus); Company (Harry); All My Sons (George Deever); Jesus Christ Superstar (Ju-das); Evita (Che); Camelot (Arthur); Guys and Dolls (Nathan Detroit). Love to Kim, Hilary, and Libby!

ReNeÉ CANNON (Ms. Johnson/ Betty Chumley) caught the acting bug several years ago and has been active on stage ever since. Some of her fa-vorite roles have been Daddy’s D’yin, Who’s Got the Will (Sara Lee), Miracle on 34th Street (Miss Adams), My Fair Lady, The Buddy Holly Story (Vi Petty), and Southern Hospitality (Rhonda Lynn Lampley). Reneé was born and raised in Houston but now makes her home in The Woodlands, where she teaches kindergarten at Galatas Elementary. She is the proud mother of two sons who have always encouraged her to step out and explore the world of acting.

STeVe DOWeLL (E.J. Lofgren) is very happy to be working in the Crighton Theatre for the first time. His recent shows include Driving Miss Daisy, Daddy’s Dyin’ Who’s Got the Will?, and Inherit the Wind. Many thanks to Sam, fellow castmates and crew. As always, Steve wishes to thank his lovely wife and muse, Jacque. Steve wants to dedicate his performance in Harvey to all the many other

great actors who have played cab drivers. Robert DeNiro (Taxi Driver), Bill Murray (Stripes), and Mr. T (DC Cab). The list goes on and on.

GeRALD LiViNGSTON (Elwood P. Dowd) is a familiar face to Conroe Theater goers as a jour-neyman character actor. After plenty of years of engineering safe processing plants, Gerald has retired to Willis and picked up a passion for the performing arts hidden since high school produc-tions. Locally he has been seen in My Fair Lady, Daddy’s Dyin’--Who’s Got the Will? and The Cru-cible. In the Vaudeville show he played 5 different characters with George Burns being his favorite. He followed up Vaudeville (Finally) Comes to the Crighton with a behind the lights effort of AD for Lend Me a Tenor. In Annie, once again, he played 5 characters. Most recently, he was in No Time for Sergeants, as the Bus Driver, Lt Kendall, The Capt and Lt Baker. Many of his friends have told him he was a character for years. He thanks his lovely wife Susan for sharing him with the historic Crighton Theater.

STePHeN MURPHRee (Judge Omar Gaffney) This is Steve’s second performance with Stage Right. Steve comes from Alabama and the Whole Backstage Community Theatre in Guntersville. Fa-vorite roles include Lieutenant Kendrick in A Few Good Men, the Senator in The Best Little Whore-house in Texas, Butch in Leading Ladies, Walter Cunningham in To Kill a Mockingbird, and Sheriff Bell in Big River. Steve is employed with North-west Pools, Inc. Steve is grateful for the oppor-tunity to work with his niece Megan and this very talented cast.

MeGAN NiX (Ruth Kelly R.N.) This is Megan’s first show with Stage Right, and 4th show to be involved in since moving to Houston back in April 2010. Her stage credits include One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Nurse Flinn), Dearly Departed (Nadine), and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (Stage Crew). Megan was bit by the acting bug after taking a theatre class at Klein High School, and has enjoyed it ever since. After high school, she moved to the DFW area to attend The Univer-sity of North Texas, and graduated in 2008 with a degree in Economics. She currently works in The Woodlands area as a Benefits Analyst. Megan would like to thank her friends and family for their love and support.

WiLLARD “WiLL” RADCLiffe (Dr. William R. Chumley) is exited to be playing the role of Dr. Chumley in Harvey. He has been a fan of com-munity theatre since he was in college. He re-sumed his affection for the stage when he moved to the Conroe area several years ago. He has par-

MARiA O. SiRGO (Veta Louise Simmons) most re-cently appeared on the Crighton stage as Frankie Futrelle in the Stage Right production of Christmas Belles. She has also been performing at various Houston Theatres for the past 9 years. It has been a thrill to be part of such a great cast and crew. To Sam - it has been a privilege to share this experience with you. It has meant the world to me. To M&P, P-Bird, VA Clan, Sibi Sanch y Mis Hermanos~Os quiero mucho! Enjoy the show!

CiNDY M. TiPPeNS (Mrs. Chenauvert) has been involved in productions at several theaters in the Houston and Conroe areas since 1996. Last year, when Stage Right brought back the show that started it all in 2008, Christmas Belles, it was her privilege to reprise her role of Patsy Price. Other favorite shows and roles include Fiddler on the Roof (Golde), Annie (Mrs. Greer) and Oliver! (Mrs. Sowerberry). She was also thrilled to be a part of Vaudeville (Finally) Comes to the Crighton in 2009. Cindy’s favorite role, offstage, is that of MaMaw to her grandson, Dylan, who just turned one! ♥ To God be all the credit and the glory! ♥

Thank you Mom, Dad for all your love and support through the good and hard times. I love you all so very much.

STAffSAM MARTiNeZ (Director/Stage Manager) made his full-length directorial debut last fall with Del Shores’ Daddy’s Dyin’, Who’s Got the Will? at Play-house 1960 and is excited that a classic, like Har-vey, marks second foray to “dark side” of theatre. A few of Sam’s acting credits include Seascape; Same Time, Next Year; The Boys Next Door; Lend Me a Tenor; A Flea in Her Ear; Sebastian, Right; Children of a Lesser God; and Noises Off. He has also done some film work, including Renfield: The Undead, which made its Houston premiere at the Worldfest earlier this month. Sam completed his acting training at the American Musical and Dra-

matic Academy in New York. He looks forward to his next experience here at Stage Right, whether onstage or off.

GReG KeLLY (Technical Director) is a founder of STAGE RIGHT and recently raised “the barn” for Always…Patsy Cline. He serves as the Minister of Music at the River Pointe Baptist Church, also in Conroe.

MARCiA feLDT BATeS (Head of House) is a Re-altor with Texas Edge Real Estate in Montgomery. Since moving to Montgomery from Sugar Land in 2001, she has enjoyed the Crighton Theatre as stage manager for the 2002 production of Radio TBS, assistant stage manager for The Cemetery Club and Tea House of the August Moon. Onstage, Marcia has played Madeline in The Cemetery Club, a village lady in Tea House, Mrs. Shellhammer in Miracle on 34th Street and Lizzie in The Uninvited.

KATT GiLCReASe (Set Construction) says “How-dy” all. Katt was last seen as Will Stockdale in No Time for Sergeants and Dub Dubberly in Christ-mas Belles. Katt also played the father Frank Gil-breth in Cheaper by the Dozen two summers ago at the Crighton. Katt’s favorite stage roles include Jonathan Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace, Cpt. A. Keller in The Miracle Worker. As always thanks and love to Susan.

ROGeR ORMiSTON (Lighting Design) has been involved with theatre for over 35 years. He is currently involved with lighting design, setup and programming for both the Crighton and the Owen theatres.

JiM TATUM (Sound) is a mainstay at the sound board both here at the Crighton and at the Owen Theatre. Most recently he ran sound for Christmas Belles.

CAROLYN CORSANO WONG (Producer / Props) is “resting” after having completed 6 weeks as Louise in Always…Patsy Cline. Carolyn is a founding member and Artistic Director for STAGE RIGHT. She also serves on the board of the Mont-gomery Pet Partners with her therapy dog Harley. She knows Glen is somewhere smiling.

STeVeN WONG (Producer) started in theatre 38 years ago as a drapery “consultant” and decided he preferred to do work backstage. His debut as director was last year’s Christmas Belles. He gives his love to family – Carolyn, Michael, and Harley. “God be between you and harm in all the empty places you must walk.”

KATHLeeN ZARiTSKi (Costumer) has been sew-ing since the age of six. Previous works include Oklahoma, Once Upon a Mattress and Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge, Annie, and No Time for Sergeants, and Always…Patsy Cline.
