Dear Families:
Thank you for your interest in the Winston Preparatory New Jersey’s Summer EnrichmentProgram for students entering grades 3-12. From 8:30am to 12:50pm, July 6 to July 30, we offera unique educational summer program aimed to enhance academic skills. Through ongoing informalassessment, dialogue with families, systematic instruction, and presentation of methodologies, students are able to gain a better understanding of strengths and weaknesses, build academic skills, enhance self-confidence and independence, as well as improve self-advocacy skills. The main goal isto empower students with the strategies they need to maximize their individual learning styles andfoster improved academic skills. In addition to taking classes aimed to develop encoding/decoding,reading comprehension, written language, mathematics, and organization, and study skills, eachstudent receives daily one-on-one instructional FOCUS sessions to further address areas of greatestchallenge. FOCUS allows further personalization of instruction, so students can gain strengthentheir academic skills and gain a better understanding of themselves as learners. The process ofplacement and program design begins with information shared during the application process.
In addition, we offer an optional After-Academics Summer Program Monday through Thursdayfrom 1:15 pm to 2:45 pm. Students can select their After Academics activities, including Sport &Fitness, Science Olympics, Drama Club, Dungeons & Dragons, Chess Club, Japanese Culture &Anime, and more.
At the end of WPSNJ’s Summer Enrichment Program, you will be provided with an individualizedprogress report and invited to a parent conference to meet with your child’s summer educationalteam.
In an effort to accommodate all families during the pandemic, students have the option ofparticipating in learning on-campus, remotely or a hybrid. That said, in these unpredictable times, this is subject to change depending on public health conditions and advisories.
Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
