All units in a subject must be completed and an award claim (cash-in) must be made to be eligible for a qualification result.

How do the components work?

UNDERSTANDING MY PRINCIPAL LEARNING AND PROJECT POINTS SCORE AND GRADEYou will notice that there are points scores for each unit. These are the points that determine which grade the learner has achieved for a unit and defines the overall Principal Learning or Project grade and the final Diploma grade during aggregation. Points scores and grades change depending on the size, or Guided Learning Hours (GLH) of a unit. Larger units are worth more points towards the Diploma.

On the back of your CSPR, or in the results pack, you will find the table which shows how many points each grade is worth, depending on the GLH of the unit. You can find the GLH for a unit in the specification or in the results pack.

Where there is no points score a learner could be absent (X) or incomplete (Q).

UNDERSTANDING MY FUNCTIONAL SKILLS POINTS SCOREAND GRADEFunctional Skills points do not contribute to the Diploma points aggregation but are simply a means to calculate whether a learner has passed each of the Functional Skills subjects. All Functional Skills units are issued with a maximum points score of 6 per unit (6 points indicates a pass at Level 1 or 2). For Level 2 units FE203, FE212, FM201 and FT201, learners who have received a points score of 5, have qualified for an exceptional award at Level 1 in that unit and may therefore be eligible for an overall award at Level 1 if they have achieved all other qualifying units.
