MARIAN MOVEMENT - Cenacle - following Divine Mercy every Wednesday in the Cry Room.

ROSARY Rosary prayed every Monday through Friday before the 8:00 AM Mass. All are invited.

Welcome the Visiting Madonna While we are encouraged to embrace Jesus’ cross, perhaps the next best thing we can do as the faithful is to turn to the Blessed Mother for guidance…‖Blessed Mother, please help me.‖ As human beings, we can’t do everything. But the Blessed Mother can go to her Son Jesus and

do wonders. The Knights of Columbus are offering intimate prayer devotions in your own homes to all parishioners so that every family may experience visitation for one week from our Visiting Madonna. Families will begin to experience a sense of peace, quiet and reflection while saying the Rosary as a family with Our Lady. The family that prays together stays together. If you are interested in participating in welcoming the Visiting Madonna, please call Charles Scott at (843) 205-9341 or email him at [email protected]

This week, the Visiting Madonna will be presented to Charles & Linda Scott at the 12:00 Noon Mass.

Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God

(Not a Holy Day of Obligation)

Monday, January 1st 8:00 AM

Teach Your Family

Good and gracious God,

who filled Simeon with the Holy Spirit,

we bless you for revealing to us the Light of your salvation.

Fill your family with grace

and, like Mary and Joseph,

may our love for you remain strong

so that, filled with the light of faith,

your family may grow in obedience to your Word.

Bless and protect all families who seek your embrace.

Open their eyes to see the glory of your Son.

You have promised the Church unity in faith and love;

as you fulfilled your promises by being part of the Holy Family.

Be present in our midst

and make us the instruments by which you heal the world.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Living out Christmas in the New Year How do we live out the message of Christmas in the New Year, rather than pack it away with the ornaments? Each year the Octave Day of Christmas falls on the first day of the New Year, on which we also celebrate the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God. Her open heart and courageous ―yes‖ to God show us how to live year-round—with hearts open to the Lord, following where He leads. We are called to place our trust in Him, to enter compassionately into the suffering of others, and to

love one another as Christ loves us. Like Our Blessed Mother welcomed Jesus, we are called to cherish and protect the gift of human life, at every stage and in every circumstance.

One way to live out the message of Christmas and follow Our Lady’s example is to join 9 Days for Life, a digital pilgrimage of prayer and charitable action.

The U.S. Catholic bishops invite you to join thousands of Catholics nationwide from Thursday, January 18 – Friday, January 26. Join today at www.9daysforlife.com! HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC SCHOOL A Ministry Of Our Lady Star Of The Sea

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all of our friends, families, volunteers, and benefactors at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and Catholic Church of Resurrection. We are so grateful for your on-going support

and prayers. We wish you a blessed and prosperous New Year!

Please note… the school office will be closed on January 1.

New Hot Lunch Program

Our much anticipated hot lunch program is getting closer to opening, but we are in need of some special volunteers to make it happen! Can you spare a few hours each week to help us out and make this program a reality for our students? We are looking for food servers from 10:45 AM - 12 noon and cleanup crews from 1:30 PM- 2:45 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays starting in February. If you think you can help us out, please feel free to e-mail

Karen Luzzo, Principal, at [email protected] or Mary McConnell, Administrative Assistant, at [email protected].

OLSS YOUTH GROUP

Calling all youth in 8th grade and up! Come join us, the OLSS Youth Group, weekly for fun and fellowship! We meet on the first Wednesday of every month from

7:30PM to 8:30PM and on Sundays from 11AM to 12PM. Meetings are held in our Youth Room which is located on the second floor of our Parish Center. Looking forward to seeing you there! You can see updates and a schedule of events by finding us on Facebook @OLSSYouthGroup.

WISDOM Today’s Readings: Sirach 3:2–6, 12–14 or Genesis 15:1–6; 21:1–3; Colossians 3:12–21 or Hebrews 11:8, 11–12, 17–19; Luke 2:22–40.

In today’s Gospel, Simeon announces that Jesus is God’s salvation for the world, and that many will oppose him. He even tells Mary that she, too, would be pierced, foreshadowing the sorrow that overcomes her during the Passion. On this feast of the Holy Family, the Church is asked to ponder the mystery

of salvation. Jesus, who is the Light of the World, will suffer so that all can share in salvation. In this Gospel, we hear again of the fulfillment of God’s promise that the prophets foretold.

While today’s Gospel is certainly joyful, it also reminds families that suffering is part of the journey. Following the Gospel and working to reveal God’s love and mercy in our world are often met with persecution and ridicule. The Holy Family teaches us that faith in God is necessary to endure suffering and to share the light of Christ.

As you discern the ways in which your family lives out the Gospel, take time to identify wisdom figures in your community and family. Listen to their stories and learn the ways their faith grew in the midst of joy and suffering. What can these wisdom figures teach you? Pray that your family remains strong in faith and trust in God’s mercy.

PRAYER OF GIVING

Loving and gracious God, I have given gold, But there is only so much gold. I have given blood, But I have only so much blood to give. I have given my time, But days have only so many hours. I have given my strength, But even that has its limits. So I give my love. Because love is gold, and love is blood. And love is time, and love is strength. But love is also so much more. Because love is God. And God is love. And only you, God, have no limits. Amen

nuestro amor crezca obedeciendo tu Palabra.

10; Salmo 98:1, 7–8, 9; Juan 1:35–42.
