By ending the league on the third position, Dik- wena qualifies to compete in the next season of CAF Confederation Cup. The North West Education and Sport Develop- ment MEC, Sello Lehari, congratulated the Plati- num Stars Football Club for their excellent per- formance throughout the season at the glittering Thanksgiving Gala Dinner held at Royal Marang Hotel on Sunday, 22 May 2016. “On behalf of the Bokone Bophirima government, we are very excited and happy about the performance of our Provincial team in the PSL. This team has be- come one of the respected teams in the league,” MEC Lehari emphasised. The Chairman of Platinum Stars Football Club, Mr Cliff Ramoroa proudly declared that Dikwena is the team for the Bokone Bophirima province. “On behalf of the team, I want to assure every- one that this team belongs to the province and we are very grateful of the support we receive from the people of the North West province,” Ramoroa said. Ndumiso Mabena, the most lethal striker of the team stole the evening by collecting four awards. He won Player of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season, Star of the Season and the Crystal Boot for finishing as the club’s top scorer with 10 goals. “I am very humbled to receive these four awards. I was not sure about the other awards. The only award I was sure about was the golden boot. The other three have been voted for by the players. I would like to thank God who gave us power, wisdom and strength throughout the sea- son,” an elated Mabena said Rustenburg – Boipelo Seabelo from Fields College, Rustenburg, scooped double gold medals during the SA JKA Inter-Provincial national championships held at the Johannesburg Ellispark indoor sports centre during 20-21 May 2016, in the u/19 division. She qualified to represent South Africa in the upcom- ing JKA World Karate Federation Championships to be held in Ireland in October 2017. The 18-year old Boipelo excelled in the kumite (fight) and kata (form) categories. She has been training in karate and martial arts since she was a little girl. Her father, Shihan Chris Seabelo, has trained her from the age of six (6) years old. Boipelo has won numerous titles in both North-West provincial and National championships, including the 2015 All Africa JKA Championships, as a ‘Grand Cham- pion’. “As her father and instructor, I am extremely proud of my daughter. She is working very hard and diligently strives to progress even further,” Shihan Chris Seabelo said. At this stage, Boipelo juggles her karate endeav- ours as well as matric year – but balances them skilfully. “One day she will become a world champion,” Shihan Seabelo added. Boipelo makes Rustenburg proud. Rustenburg – The Bojanala District Municipality in partnership with Athletics North West North held a 21.1 km mara- thon and 5km challenge at the Rusten- burg Olympia Park Stadium on Satur- day, 14 May 2016. The half marathon was won by the 24 year-old Manja from the Nedbank club with a 1:07:25 record time. The 20 year- old Lentswe Brendon was the first man to finish the 5km challenge with the re- cord time of 15:10. The results are: Top 10 Half Marathon winners: 1. D. Manja; 2. T. Masiako, 3. J. Die Rebels draf volgende in ‘n Aussie derby teen die Force uit in Melbourne met die Chiefs wat Sydney toe reis om met die Waratahs kragte te gaan meet. Force vs Blues In Perth behaal die Blues ‘n naelskraapse oorwinning en wen 17-13 in ‘n modderbad. Hoog skop en hoop om raak te vang was aan die orde van die dag. Gagga game ou grote, gagga! Die Force speel volgende teen die Rebels in Melbourne met die Blues wat teen die Crusaders in Auckland gaan uitdraf. Leeus vs Jaguares In Jo’burg wen die Leeus hul katgeveg verspotmaklik met 52-24 en kuier agt keer agter die doellyn van die Jaguares. Met hierdie spogvertoning moes daar ook ‘n hele paar spelers regmerkies verdien het vir die wedloop om ‘n plek in die Bokspan – wat teen Ierland in Junie gaan uitdraf – te beklee. Die Jaguares was weereens uiters teleurstellend en cope nie met die pas van Superruggas nie ou grote. Die Argentyne draf volgende teen die hulpelose Kings in PE uit met die Leeus wat Fort Loftus toe reis om teen die Bulle uit te draf.
