    The Klopfenstein Story

2. Peter Alexander Klopfenstein married Mary Sommer in 1862.He died four months after their first son was born.
3. That son, named after his father,Peter Alexander Klopfenstein,
grew up and married Sophia Meiss in Gridley, Illinois. They eventually gave birth to and raised 14 children.
4. 5. Her mothers helper...Bertha helped to care for all
the little children. After she married, her husband had a wooden leg that fascinated all the nieces and nephews.
6. Frank was a successful businessman who died of a heart condition at age 35.
7. Lee wasknown as happy-go-lucky
and the life of the party.
8. EJ was outgoing, courteous,
punctual and dignified.
9. Ida was a loving wife and the
mother of an only child.
10. Fred was known to be teasing and friendly, yet strict and opinionated.
11. Joe was a minister and elder of the
Gridley Apostolic Christian Church.
He was kind and hospitable.
12. Mary was a gracious hostess and loving caretaker. She married late in life
and had no children.
13. Anna was a nurse. She was gentle and charming and had a good sense of humor.
14. John was an avid baseball fan and a successful accountant. He died of a heartcondition at age 45.
15. Harry was another successful businessman, working in auto sales. He was in poor
health much of his adult life.
16. Art was a mortician and business owner. He died of a sudden heart attack at the age of 44.
17. Minerva was a tomboy, a teacher,
a businesswoman, and a loving
wife and mother.
18. Bill was a successful insurance broker and accountant. He was a disciplinarian, yet had a surprising sense of humor.
