Overview: Students will choose an event, a product, or, organization to build a poster for in Adobe Photoshop.

Objectives: After a discussion and evaluation of Photoshop students will be able to: Students will communicate both visually & verbally to a target audience. Student will demonstrate use of the art elements & principles in design composition. Student will demonstrate beginning skills with Photoshop & Design tools & techniques. Student will share poster project with the class in a group critique using visual art vocabulary & complete self-evaluation.

Students will choose a word to illustrate, students may look up example posters online Use Photoshop to create your poster

1. Open Photoshop2. Select file new… 3. On the new document pop-up screen, select “Inches” as your units next to width and height, then input 8.5"x 14".4. Zoom out to 150% (bottom left hand corner) 5. Your canvas is 8.5 inches by 14 inches; please use the majority of this space to create your poster6. Experiment with the tools and techniques Ms. Mann has gone over, if you do not know how to do something ask.

Titles should be no more that 7 words long & should be legible from 6ft away. Poster must include images and copy (supporting written statements) that relate to the topic. You may use images from the

internet, but they must be large format, otherwise they will become too pixelated. You may also use your own images (photographs or drawings).

Poster must be original!

Tips/Reference:

Bitmap Images – bitmap or raster images are based on a grid of pixels and are appropriate for continuous-tone images such as photographs or artwork created in painting programs.Vector graphics – are made up of shapes based on mathematical expressions and are appropriate for illustrations, type, & drawings that require smooth, clear lines.Target Audience - is the primary group of people that something, usually an a dvertising campaign , is aimed at appealing to.
