Digipak Analysis  Front cover  The front cover of this p articular digipak features the image of an urban, run down alley way. This particular feature is somewhat simplistic, but is extremely effective. The simplicity allows the audience to connote what sort of band the arctic monkeys are; the simplistic front cover design suggests to the audience that the band is original and is basically brilliant. The image which features on the front cover also includes a sign with the bands hometown name written on it. This particular technique allows the band to portray their roots or background, which gives the audience a clear sense of where the band is from, this a llows the audience to make a personal connection with both the band and the album from the off. The font used on the front cover matches the chosen image, as the font is also simplistic, clear cut, and gives the audience the important information needed, in this case the n ame of the band and the name of the song. Back cover  Similarly to the front, the b ack cover also features a simplistic, urban image as well as a simplistic fon t. The image which features on the back cover depicts the overall meaning of both the album and the song which features on it. The song itself is about Turner (lead singer of the arctic monkeys) watching a particular situation in an urban environment. The use of an urban i mage on both the front and back covers adds a form of hidden meaning to the album cover, making this digipak extremely unique. Disc  The disc which is situated between each cover matches both the front and back covers perfectly. Once again a simpli stic image and font have been used to connote the personality and style of the band. The disc also features a repetitive technique which advertises the band’s name. By repeating the band’s name or logo on both the front cover and the disc, the image will become an extremely memorable feature. The use of an image on the disk is also an extremely noticeable feature, as this technique is some what unusual as it is seldom used. Colour Scheme  The colour scheme which features throughout the entirety of this digipak is black, white and grey. Although these colours do not sound very appealing, they do in fact work ae sthetically. The black and white effect has been used to highlight the simplicity of the cover, the band and their music. The use of these colours also adds certain industrial bleakness to the images and portrays the dark meaning of the song. The use of black, white and grey also portrays the bands indie style, as by using this colour scheme, they are showing that they are not afraid to go against normality and are willing to create their own style and own persona in the musical world. From analysing this digipak, I have discovered a vast amount of techniques and features which I like. Firstly, I like the overall style of this digipak. Both the images used and the colour scheme is used in an extremely effective way, as it is intriguing and unique. Also, the use of industrial images is different to the images which are usually used on indie rock covers, as is the colour scheme (as indie rock album covers commonly feature splashes of colour.) In my opinion, this particular digipak would suit my fictitious band because of its uniqueness, charisma and simplistic design.

Colour Scheme The colour scheme which features throughout the entirety of this digipak is black, white and grey. Although these colours do not sound very appealing, they do in fact work aesthetically.
