Seta’s Copper Corrosion Bath is a stainless steel water or oil bath digitally temperature controlled to ±0.1°C over a temperature range of ambient +5°C to 120°C.

The bath has two test stations, each with a lid and hook for suspending either a copper corrosion pressure test vessel or a test tube support. A circulation plate is fitted internally to assist in producing an even temperature throughout the bath. Due to the size of the bath and efficient heating system, high temperature can quickly be achieved.

The MFT is a unique instrument designed to test the Filter Blocking Tendency (FBT) of diesel, biodiesel (B100 & B5/7/20/30), gas oil, gas turbine fuel and kerosene. Test parameters for IP 387 and ASTM D2068 are pre-programmed.

FBT analysis is achieved by measuring the pressure differential across a disposable filter. Fuels which have a high FBT could potentially block filters in the distribution network or during use in a vehicle or power plant.

The MFT is also used to determine the FBT for Biofuels which have been ‘cold soaked’ at a temperature just above zero Celsius. During the 16 hour cold soak particles of saturated monoglycerides and sterol glucosides can be formed which do not dissolve when the temperature is raised back to ambient. The MFT procedure is able to detect fuels containing these particles. For further details please see the Cold Soak Test bath below.

PC software is available which enables the pressure versus time plots to be stored dynamically, compared against one another and output in a variety of formats to enable data analysis in Excel for example.

The Seta D2 Hand Held Conductivity Meter (D2 JF-1A-HH model) meets the requirements of ASTM D2624. The H2S Analyser was developed with Lloyd’s Register’s ‘Fuel Oil and Bunker

Analysis Service’ (FOBAS) along with support of other major international oil companies to offer rapid measurement of H

2S in petroleum products. The VPP

accessory was subsequently developed to eliminate the effects of chemical interference and to enable the analyser to address a broader range of petroleum products. IP 570 Procedure A (with VPP) is now the industry recommended practice for measuring marine residual fuels and blend streams.

The H2S Analyser is an excellent tool for supporting product Quality Control and

safety ensuring product is within approved specification. It is also ideal for both product remediation treatment of feedstock components and off-spec products with fast repeat sample measurement capability.

H2S is efficiently purged from the test sample by a combination of heat and

agitation, and is measured by an advanced electrochemical sensor. The instrument offers a cost effective solution for H

2S measurement – no costly chemicals are

required and there is no need for analytical preparation by an expert chemist.

The Crude Oil Test Kit (SA4021-0) allows the H2S Analyser to be used with the

FIJI uniquely utilises state of the art FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectroscopy) technology and a patented sample preparation system which allows FAME detection to 10mg/kg level.

FIJI is robust, extremely simple to use and is fully automatic so no specialist operator training is involved. Tests require less than 50ml of sample and typically take under 20 minutes. Results are presented in mg/kg units together with an optional traffic light system for flagging FAME contamination levels of the fuel.

Using a unique sample preparation module the sample is pumped at a controlled flow rate though a proprietary disposable cartridge. The sample components are spectrally analysed by the FTIR and a result is displayed in mg/kg, a graphical spectrum is also shown.

The system is self-cleaning so no solvents are required. After each test the cartridge is simply and easily replaced and the instrument is immediately ready for the next sample.
