1.a) The poem, Last Night I Dreamed of

Chickens by Jack Prelutsky.

Last night I dreamed of chickens, 8 a there were chickens everywhere, 8 b

they were standing on my stomach, 8 - they were nesting in my hair, 8 b

they were pecking at my pillow, 8 - they were hopping on my head, 8 b

they were ruffling up their feathers 8 - as they raced about my bed. 8 b

They were on the chairs and tables, 8 -

they were on the chandeliers, 8 - they were roosting in my ears, 8 -

there were chickens, chickens, chickens 8 a for as far as, I noticed 8 -

there were eggs on top of me.7 -

2.a) Poem analyzed.

The poem is about chickens in a bedroom, a man who can’t sleep, he’s scared and imagines he’s surrounded by some chickens, maybe because he’s afraid of chickens, he ate chicken before going to bed or is a childhood trauma.

I think this man is a paranoid because the atmosphere is depressant, all the poem

is symmetrical and you use the same tone and put a tired face. I saw some

imagery: stress, headache, remorse, afraid …

The poem has eight syllables in all of verses. The rhyme is free.

3.a) The reason why I chose the photo.

This photo is perfect for this poem because there is a man who is suffering and some birds that remind you the chickens.

4.a) About the author.

Jack Prelutsky is a poet; he was born on September 8, 1940 in New York. Prelutsky claims to have hated poetry when he was younger. Prelutsky has written more than 50 poetry collections.

This song is about a wasteful person with a bad life but he or she is optimistic

though go to hell when she or he will dies. I think the author means you should live

the present, without responsibility, free, “carpe diem”.

3.b) The reason why I chose the photo.

I chose this photo because it reminds me a bus accident in Switzerland last year,

where about twenty children died.

That was really a highway to hell.

4.b) About the band.

AC/DC is a heavy metal/hard rock Australian band. It was founded in 1973 by Malcolm

and Angus Young, the singer of this song is Bon Scott. For me this band is great.
