Where did that six months go? Yesterday reports were sent home as part of our reporting to parents. The student reports provide information regarding your child’s effort across key learning areas as well as his/ her academic performance and days absent, up to and including Friday 21 June. It is very important to take into consideration your child’s effort when viewing reports as it indicts the diligence and commitment to his/her work. We ask that you take the time to sit and read your child’s report with him/her, highlighting the positive aspects of the report and also discussing any areas of possible improvement. If you require any further information regarding your child’s report, please contact your child’s teacher. Congratulations to our senior and junior dance groups on being selected to perform at the upcoming Blue Mountains Nepean Festival that will take place later in the year. Gold card morning tea On Wednesday, I had the great pleasure of attending our very special gold card morning tea along with some very proud parents. It is always lovely to see our students receiving their rewards and celebrating their success.

Principal’s reportDear parents/caregivers,

We are fast approaching the end of our first semester. Where did that six months go?

Yesterday reports were sent home as part of our reporting to parents. The student reports provide information regarding your child’s effort across key learning areas as well as his/her academic performance and days absent, up to and including Friday 21 June. It is very important to take into consideration your child’s effort when viewing reports as it indicts the diligence and commitment to his/her work.

Principal’s report (continued)

On Friday 21 June, students from Stage 2 represented Bligh Park School at the

Hawkesbury futsal gala day at Hawkesbury stadium. After some fun skill development activities in the morning they then participated in several friendly games against other schools. Each student played exceptionally well and should be proud of their sportsmanship and perseverance during some tough games. Well done everyone!

Stage 3 league tag gala dayYesterday our Stage 3 students took to the field along with other Hawkesbury schools to participate in the Stage 3 league tag gala day. The gala day provided an opportunity for students who were new to the game to experience and enjoy league tag in a safe and friendly environment. Our students were great ambassadors for our school.

Kindergarten enrolments for 2020 We have started taking Kindergarten enrolments for 2020. If you have a child who will be enrolling in Kindergarten for 2020, please assist us by completing an enrolment form. Forms are available from the office and we ask that you also please bring your child’s birth certificate/passport, immunisation documents

and proof of address with you. Your assistance in this matter helps with planning for 2020. If you are aware of a family in the area who has a child who will be enrolling in Kindergarten for 2020, please ask them to contact the school office.

I wish all our students and their families a safe and enjoyable winter vacation. Term 3 will be the beginning of our semester 2 reporting period with students having opportunities to apply themselves to their learning and demonstrating their abilities and talents.

Take care and enjoy the time with family and friends.

Last week we celebrated NAIDOC week with an educational, interactive and exciting performance from P.I.E Productions called, Myah. The students

enjoyed a welcome song, a demonstration of the didgeridoo (Yidaka) and a selection of artefacts. Students and teachers joined in the dance as the performer shared Dreamtime stories and his journey of learning about his culture. The performance provided an opportunity for all students to learn and appreciate the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.

Hawkesbury Creative Arts Enrichment ProgramBligh Park Public school recently took part in the Hawkesbury Creative Arts Enrichment Program.

Congratulations to all students who were successful in being selected to participate in one of the courses. We hope that you enjoyed the experience.

Thank you to Mrs Knippers-Blake for the wonderful job you have done in coordinating the students to enable them to attend these courses.

Bligh Park Public School hosted one of the programs with Miss Boyd, Buzzing with Bee-Bots. The course provided Stage 1 students with an opportunity to explore robotics and coding.

Thank you Miss Boyd for providing this wonderful opportunity for the students in the Hawkesbury.

On Wednesday 26 June, students from 5/6P and 5W held an Archibald prize as a part of their visual arts unit. Students selected someone who has influenced their life (e.g. family, friends, sporting hero) to create a portrait using a variety of different mediums. The classrooms were open on the day for other students to enjoy as well as to vote for a people’s choice award.

Great job everyone who brought in the ‘Woolworths Earn ’n Learn’ promotion stickers for our school to earn amazing new equipment.

A big thank you to everyone who purchased a Stewart House handball from us in our continued support for Stewart House. We sold almost 100 balls and it has been fantastic to see you using them in the playground.

Thank you

The topic was that children should receive pocket money for doing chores at home. Bligh Park needed to argue for the negative, that children should not be paid for chores at home. They did a fantastic job

at forming arguments and rebutting the opposition but unfortunately on the day Richmond Public School where the winning team. Well done to all who participated and to the guests who visited our school.
