3. WHERE FILL OR BACKFILL IS REQUIRED, IF MATERIAL ON SITE IS UNSUITABLE FORSTANDARD COMPACTION SPECIFICATION, THEN IMPORTED FILL SHALL CONSISTOF APPROVED MATERIAL SUCH AS CRUSHED ROCK AND BE INSTALLED INACCORDANCE WITH COMPACTION SPECIFICATION.

REPLACEMENT SOIL FOR MASTS

1. EXCAVATE ANCHOR PIT AND INSTALL STEEL ANCHOR BEAM, ANCHOR RODSAND ATTACHMENTS.

2. TO COVER ANCHOR BEAM INSTALL SELECT FILL MATERIAL WON FROMEXCAVATION OR FROM SURROUNDING SOURCES AND COMPACT THE FILLING.COMPACT FILL IN 150mm COMPACTED DEPTH LAYERS AROUND BEAM.SOURCE FILL AS DESCRIBED IN SECTION 3 BELOW. (MINIMUM DENSITY OFCOMPACTED BACKFILL SOIL TO BE 16kN/m³)

FILL REMAINDER OF ANCHOR EXCAVATION WITH SELECT MATERIAL WON FROMEXCAVATION OR FROM SURROUNDING SOURCES AND COMPACT THE FILLINGTO A MINIMUM DENSITY OF Y=16kN/m³ SELECT FILL IS TO BE FREE FROM ANYORGANIC MATERIAL SUCH AS ROOTS AND TOPSOIL AND BE EITHER x CLAYSAND SILTS (BASED ON φ=20° AND cU=20KPa).OR x SANDS (BASED ON φ=32°MIN) NOTE: MINIMUM SOIL PROPERTIES ARE AS STATED ABOVE, UNLESS NOTEDDIFFERENTLY IN GEOTECHNICAL REPORT SELECT FILL PARTICLES SIZE AND SHAPEIS TO SUIT COMPACTED LAYER THICKNESS.

STEEL WORK

1. ALL WORKMANSHIP AND MATERIALS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH AS4100 AND AS 1554 EXCEPT WHERE VARIED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS.

2. WELDED CONNECTIONS BETWEEN STRUCTURAL MEMBERS SHALL BE MIN 6mmCONTINUOUS FILLET WELD (OR SIZE EQUIVALENT TO THE MINIMUM THICKNESSOF CONNECTION MEMBERS WHERE LESS THAN 6mm) UNLESS NOTEDOTHERWISE. WELDED CONNECTIONS BETWEEN LATTICE & CHORDS SHALL BEMINIMUM 6mm COMPLETE AND INCOMPLETE PENETRATION BUTT WELDS -CLASS SP.

3. BOLT TYPES (AND DESIGNATIONS WHERE USED) SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS: 4.6/S - COMMERCIAL BOLTS TO AS 1111 SNUG TIGHTENED 8.8/S - HIGH STRENGTH STRUCTURAL BOLTS WITH BOLTS, NUTS AND HARDENED WASHERS TO AS. 12S2 SNUG TIGHTENED ONLY.

4. M16 HIGH STRENGTH (8.8/S) BOLTS SHALL BE USED IN ALL CONNECTIONSUNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE. NOTWITHSTANDING THIS, NO STEEL-TO -STEELCONNECTIONS SHALL BE MADE WITH LESS THAN 2x M16 (8.8/S) BOLTS UNLESSNOTED OTHERWISE. U-BLOTS (4.6/S) SHOULD BE USED FOR ANCILLARIESINSTALLATION UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.

5. BOLT HOLES IN STEEL-TO-STEEL AND STEEL-TO-CONCRETE CONNECTIONS SHALLBE BOLT DIAMETER +2mm AND +3mm RESPECTIVELY. FOR BASE PLATES ALLOWBOLT DIAMETER +6mm UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.

6. ALL NUTS, BOLTS AND WASHERS SHALL BE HOT-DIPPED GALVANISED UNLESSNOTED OTHERWISE.

7. WELD MATERIAL SHALL HAVE A NOMINAL TENSILE STRENGTH OF 490MPa AS PERAS 4100 AMENDMENT 1, 2012, TABLE 9.7.3.10(1).
