Instructions for Freestanding Concrete Table and Stools

Concrete Classics’ chess tables can be installed on any level surface. However, these pieces are very heavy and need to be installed with the utmost of care. Before installing the table, read the instructions below: Installation should not be attempted with less than three strong movers. Concrete is very heavy. If you have any medical or back problems, do not attempt to lift the table. Hand trucks or forklifts are helpful tools in moving the individual pieces off the palette to their desired location. Take extra care when placing the table on a hard surface so that you don’t chip the bottom. § The table orientation is dependent on the pedestal base and not the top, therefore, orient the base first. Make sure the concrete-classics.com engraving on the bottom of the pedestal faces towards the stool. Orient the table so that the bottom-right piece on both players side is white (see below).

§ Lift the table and lower it into the top of the pedestal so the metal pipe on the bottom of

the table fits into the metal collar of the base. Note: it might be helpful to have an extra person on hand to guide the tabletop into the pedestal.

§ Tabletop may turn slightly on the base. If this happens, hammer a wooden shim into the space between the tabletop and the top of the pedestal to eliminate any slight movement. Break off excess wood.

Additional Notes

Concrete is composed of stones which may vary in size, texture and color. Due to its organic nature, color may vary from piece to piece. In precast concrete, there will be seams. Though they can be polished down, they cannot be completely removed. Concrete tables will only crack under extreme conditions, however, minor surface hairline cracks may arise, and are a natural part of the concrete hardening process. Concrete can be cleaned with a non-abrasive household cleaner. Although water sealant is added to the concrete mixture to prevent staining, concrete is a porous stone, and some staining may occur. C. Samples for Verification: For the following bicycle parking rack/s, showing; (1) the color of the powder coat finish. Prepare 2 inch by 3.5-inch (50.8 mm by 87.5mm) powder coat samples (or larger) from the same material to be used to finish the product, (2) the actual galvanized finish. Prepare a sample piece of sufficient size to judge its quality, (3) Stainless steel. Submit a sample piece for review.

D. Maintenance Data: For each bicycle parking rack. 1. Include recommended methods for repairing damage to the powder coat

finish. 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Store bicycle parking racks in original undamaged packages and containers until ready for installation. B. Handle powder coated bicycle parking racks with sufficient care to prevent any

scratches or damage to the finish. 1.6 WARRANTY

A. Bicycle parking racks are to carry a one year manufacturer’s limited warranty

against defects in materials and workmanship. The one year warranty period begins the date the product is shipped from the manufacturer.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS

A. Provide bicycle parking racks manufactured by Madrax, Division of Trilary, Inc. 2.2 MATERIALS

A. Powder Coating: Triglycidyl isocyanurate (TGIC) powder, a polyester coating. 1. Color as selected by architect from manufacturer’s full range of standard

A. Heavy Duty Winder: The bicycle parking rack shall be the HW238-__-__-_ (insert bike capacity, installation method and finish selection) bicycle parking rack as manufactured by Madrax, Division of Trilary, Inc. Hot-dipped galvanized or powder coated options: Rack shall be constructed of ASTM A53, 2” Schedule 40 steel pipe (2-3/8” O.D. x 0.154” thick wall (60.3mm x 3.9mm)) or better. Stainless steel option: Rack shall be constructed of ASTM A312, 2” Schedule 40, TP 304 stainless steel pipe (2-3/8” O.D. x 0.154” thick wall (60.3mm x 3.9mm)) polished to a satin #4 finish. Rack shall be a minimum of 42” (1066.8mm) high to provide proper clearance for parked bicycles.

PART 3 – EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION

A. Handle and install bicycle parking racks in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and installation instructions.

B. Set bicycle parking racks secured to construction, level and true to line, in correct relationship to adjacent materials.
