    Tomorrows

    HoroscopeBy Bernice Bede Osol

    Writer wantsto dump sister

Dear Annie: My sister,Lena, has been a problemfor decades. She abused herchildren physically and con-tinues to abuse the rest of

the family emotionally. Sheis haughty and manipulativeand lies to everyone. Herown kids want nothing to dowith her.

I am the last person left inthe family who talks to Lena. She constantly expects meto run errands for her, loanher money andtake care of herwhen she is sick, which is always. She never recipro-cates. This is nowaffecting my bloodpressure, and mychildren want meto cut her off. Im

ready. But if I dothis, it will makecertain social situ-ations awkward. We move in thesame circles.

It would make it easierto walk away if I had sometools to use. What do I saywhen people ask about Lena?-- Need the Break

Dear Need: It dependson what they are asking. If they want to know howshes doing, any variation onfine or same as alwaysis sufficient. If they want toknow more, you can simplysay, You should ask Lena. You dont want to createa scene or invite a flurryof follow-up questions, sobe vague and noncommit-tal. You dont owe peoplean explanation of your rela-tionship or the details of anestrangement.

Dear Annie: My hus-band, Mark, and I havebeen together for 12 years. Its a second marriage forboth of us. His ex embezzled$30,000 and forged Marksname on her credit cards, which she maxed out andhe paid for. Their daughter, now 35, calls her father onlywhen she wants money.

Last year, after a healthscare, we made our funeralarrangements. Marks sondied 20 years ago, and at thattime, he bought three adjoin-ing cemetery plots. When hisex divorced him, she got thehouse, car and everythingelse, but Mark got the burialplots. When his ex and hisdaughter saw our preparedheadstone next to his sonsgrave, they became hysteri-cal.

Annie, I am being cre-mated, and my ashes arebeing put in Marks head-stone. The third cemeteryplot is for any family mem-ber who might want it. They

are solely in Marks name.Apparently, the ex wantedto be buried next to their sonand doesnt want me in thepicture at all.

Now Marks daughterbarely has anything to dowith her father. We feel bad

about this, but dont believewe did anything wrong. Anysuggestions, or do we justignore all the drama? -- AGrave Situation

Dear Grave Situation:Ignore it. Unless Mark iswilling to sell the adjacentplot to his ex-wife, she hasno claim on it. If she wantsto be buried near her son,she should look at nearbyplots and see what she canarrange.

Dear Annie: Ithink your answerto HurtingMother was wayoff base. She defi-nitely stated that hergranddaughter hadunlocked the door, which means shemust have locked

access to the dog. What more couldshe have done? Itwas up to the par-ents to watch their

    child.It appears to me that

Susan is looking for a wayto make an easy buck off themother she hates so much.I, too, am glad the little girlwill be all right, but its herparents who have the prob-lem, not her grandmother.-- Huachuca City, Ariz.

Dear Arizona: We musthave been sleeping when weread that letter. We agree thatSusan sounds like a royalpain and should have kept acloser eye on her child. Butits the grandmother whohas the problem. She wantsto see her grandchild again, and an apology may be theonly way to do it.

The year ahead is likely to be anextremely active one, especially atthose times when youre putting forthfar more effort and energy than usualin order to satisfy some kind of innerneed. By working hard, youll obtainyour desires.

CANCER (June 21-July 22)-- If youre not careful, a domesticconfrontation over a minor infractioncould overwhelm the household. Eventhough the issue is petty, it couldgenerate major trouble.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22) --Although normally youre prettygood about keeping your temper incheck, if youre not careful you couldspontaneously overreact should yourviews or opinions be challenged.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)-- Hanging around with friendswho are notoriously extravagant orreckless with their funds opens up thepossibility of you following their lead.Be your own person.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23) --If youre at odds with your mateover something trivial, make sureyou resolve it before going out withfriends. You wont want it to rear itsugly head when youre trying to havea good time.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 22) --Be exceptionally careful if you have

to work with tools or materials withwhich youre unfamiliar. You mighthave to keep a close eye on a helperwho could be inexperienced, as well.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23-Dec.21) -- When out with friends, be onyour best behavior if you find someonein the group to be brash or rude. If yourespond in kind, itll make you lookbad, not him or her.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)-- Before establishing a big objective,be sure its truly worthy of the troubleit might take to achieve it and notsomething that you wont appreciateonce you get it.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 19)-- Your manner of expression couldmake a much stronger impressionthan you are likely to intend. Thus, besure that what you say enhances yourimage, not damages it.

PISCES (Feb. 20-March 20) --Being a bit of a risk taker, you couldeasily jump into something that is

financially way over your head. Beparticularly wary of anything thatseems too good to be true.

ARIES (March 21-April 19) --Think twice before pulling the rug outfrom under a direct competitor. Theconsequences of your actions couldtake you down along with him or her.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)-- Instead of vowing to eventuallycorrect a mistake you made, takeaction the moment you realize yourgaffe. The longer you wait, the worseitll get.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20) --Theres a chance you could get caughtup in a situation in which the positionyou want to take opposes the will ofthe majority. Dont try to fight cityhall on your own.
