President’s Message

Established in 2004 as a research institute by the Korean government, DGIST launched graduate programs in 2011 and plans to open undergraduate programs in 2014 with the vision of becoming a ‘world-leading convergence-research university.

strategic areas: Emerging Materials Science, Information & Communication En-gineering, Medical Robotics, Green Energy, Brain Science and New Biology. We named this focus the ‘MIREBraiN Program’ and it will be our primary project.Second, DGIST will open a new era of science and invention by nurturing global leaders of knowledge creation and creating future convergence technology.Third, DGIST will provide a role model for university-research institute coopera-tion through successful win-win cooperation between the education and research divisions.Fourth, DGIST will lead the national science education and research by setting

and nurturing students with the 3C characters: Creativity, Contribution, and Care. Furthermore, DGIST will perform convergence research by providing students with education in intense basic science and engineering curricula. In addition, DGIST will pursue inclusive growth with other universities and re-search institutes, and serve as a think tank for the development of national and local science and technology. Last but not least, DGIST will prepare its students to be global professionals in an era of internalization by running the campus bilingually. We can be the ‘Most Valuable Player’ in science education and research when all members of DGIST have the spirit of MVP: Mission, Vision and Passion. With our outstanding faculty, researchers, and staff, we will build DGIST into the world’s best
