Nutrigenomics And Cancer

Cancer occurs when there is uncontrolled growths of damaged cells invade in areas

where they are not needed. They are harmful to the body when they form lumps or

masses of tissue that release hormones that alter normal cellular functions. Cells are

supposed to follow a pattern of growth, division, death. Cancer cells, however, do not

die; instead they continue to multiply which to a massive growth of abnormal cells in the

body. The oncogenes or cancer-promoting cells help normal cell turn into a tumor cell.

These give the cells new properties which defy the programmed death of the cell and

proliferate instead. The tumor suppressor genes protect the cell from turning into cancer.

However, when these genes are mutated, the cell can progress to cancer. Certain

lifestyle and environment factors promote the development of cancer cells in the body. If

our body is exposed to carcinogens, or the substances that are responsible to the

damage of the DNA, we are most likely to develop the disease. These carcinogens are

linked to specific types of cancer. Tobacco smoke is associated to lung cancer,

exposure to asbestos leads to mesothelioma; ultraviolet rays from the sun can cause

skin cancer, and many others. Thus, it is important that we should develop a healthy

lifestyle to combat against the carcinogens that are present in our environment. This

lifestyle includes the proper diet that will strengthen our immunity. Nutrigenomics is a

study that will change how we see food and nutrients in relation to cancer treatment and

prevention. It aims to educate people that proper diet and nutrition can affect how our

genes response to the medication prescribed by the medical experts. Just like in all

other chronic diseases, medical professionals advise people to take preventive

measures against cancer. Though taking them does not guarantee cancer prevention,

this can help reduce the risk of developing the dreaded disease. Exercising and proper

weight management, not using tobacco products, eating a well-balanced diet, and

protecting yourself from the harmful rays of the sun are usual ways to lower the risk of

developing certain cancers. However, in some cases, vaccination is also recommended to avoid some viruses that can trigger

certain cancers. There are several ways that cancer can be treated. Early detection of the disease is primarily the key to the

successful treatment of the disease. These treatments include surgery, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, hormone therapy,

and gene therapy. Some doctors employ a combination of those therapies depending on the stage, location, severity of the

disease, and other factors that could affect the efficacy of the treatment. But all these can be futile if our body does not

respond to the treatments well. As we all know, our body need nutrients that will enhance the effect of the treatments

administered to our body. Because of this, nutrigenomics can be applied in finding out what those nutrients are. In this way,

nutritionists will be able to formulate a customized diet which is deemed appropriate and effective to the patient. Diet has

always been a factor either in the development or prevention of diseases. Researchers have found that possible prevention

for cancer can be found on the food nutrients that we consume.

Some foods like green tea, cruciferous vegetables, olive oil, walnuts, peanuts, pomegranates, and grapes contain polyphenol.

Polyphenol acts as antioxidant that protects the body from chemical damage caused by free radicals, which cause

degenerative diseases and cancers. Nutrigenomics has shown that food nutrients have effects on the gene expressions of

human beings. It aims to identify the specific nutritional needs of individuals according to his genetic makeup. Through this,

people who are highly at risk to cancer will be given a specified and tailor-made diet prescription that can decrease their

susceptibility to the disease. This field of study gives us a new insight on the causes of cancers, their preventions, and their

treatments..

Sheepdog Skills

True warriors, by their very nature, tend to put the welfare of others before their own safety. This is how it should be. This is not only true of professional warriors, but civilian warriors as well. Let’s face it, as husbands, wives, parents, siblings (etc.), we often have to assume responsibility for the safety and well being of others. Often times, this responsibility is what drives us to pursue martial training. Considering this, one of the most overlooked aspects of martial training is third party protection. You can be the biggest, toughest, most advanced black belt in the whole world, but when the fecal matter hits the rotating oscillator…can you herd two kids in a busy parking lot, keep your wife out of harm’s way, AND fend off that crazy knifer all at the same time? If you’ve never been taught basic bodyguarding tactics, you may find it more difficult than you think. Bodyguarding is all about awareness and avoidance…not combat. When you are responsible for the safety of another, the last thing you want to do is subject them to a hostile environment. As a protector, it’s always preferable to avoid a threat rather than engage it. Ego cannot be a factor. Any combat on your part should be solely to buy escape time for your party. Awareness and avoidance is much easier when there is only you to consider, but maintaining awareness and conducting avoidance oriented countermeasures for multiple people requires extreme focus and vigilance. While every member of your party should be exercising good situational and environmental awareness, you cannot assume that they will perceive and respond to even obvious threats. Small children, for example, are quite mobile and have limited threat perception capabilities. They can aimlessly meander into extremely dangerous situations. As such, your first priority is to place yourself in a position that allows you to maintain visual contact with your entire party and that facilitates your interception of a potential threat. This is referred to as assuming an escort position. The escort position I find most useful for civilians is the ―rear off-set patrol‖. To execute a rear off-set patrol, stand an arms distance behind and off to one side of the slowest (or smallest) member of your party. By ―keeping your head on a swivel‖ and maintaining good 360 degree awareness, you should be able to detect any threat approaching your flank. If a threat does approach your flank (tactically the groups weakest spot), they must come through you first. If you detect a threat approaching your party from the front, you simply advance and place yourself between the threat and your party. If a threat is detected, pre-planned code words or directives can play a critical role in saving precious time. If your party has already been told to respond a specific way to verbal commands, your ability to manage their avoidance oriented countermeasures is greatly improved. For example, saying something like, ―Bravo-Charlie‖ to your wife could tell her that you detect ―Bad Company‖ and she should now gather the kids and proceed to the nearest safe zone while you manage the threat. Once she and the children are to safety, she should enlist help for you. Without this type of pre-planned communication, loved ones often stand around a dangerous situation in a panicked state, wanting to help, but not knowing what to do. All the while, they subject themselves to potential harm and function as a major distraction to you as you attempt to manage an overwhelming amount of stimuli.

The physical techniques of third party protection are less about putting hands on ―the bad guy‖ and more about controlling your principal (V.I.P.). Control tactics for principals fall into two basic categories: passive control techniques and direct control techniques. An example of a passive control technique would be the ―leading hand‖. By gently placing a hand in the small of the back, on a shoulder, or extending an open hand in a specific direction you can encourage your principal to move where you want them to go. There is no force involved. An example of a direct control technique would be the ―headlock and cover’. To perform this technique you simply grab your principal in a bully-style side-headlock and cover the top of their head with your free arm and your body as you run them to safety. It’s not pleasant for your principal, but they get to escape intact. Obviously, this is a very brief introduction to third party protection training concepts; however, this is not a testament to its importance. I was introduced to third party protection via my ERT training at the Sheriff’s department years ago. Once I was exposed to it, I realized just how much the self defense community needed to embrace third party protection skills. Our families are our highest priority. We owe it to them to ensure that our skills adequately provide for their safety.

THE LOST ART OF DRAWING YOUR WEAPON Over the last few month I have been researching different edge weapon ―Modern edge weapon‖ programs on the art of drawing your weapon and to be honest, I have not seen very many that teach it or have a syllabus just on drawing your edge weapon, I mean, I hear them touch on, Talk about it, but there is not a syllabus on It, My Instructor Hock Hochheim in his edge weapon knife counter knife talks about it in some detail and has some awesome drills on drawing your edge weapon. That’s where I began my search. To my surprise very little is out there. The art of drawing your weapon has been LOST both in edge weapon and firearms. A lot of programs start with a knife or a gun in your hand, ONLY PROBLEM is ―HOW DID IT GET THERE‖ They are folks out there that will give you techniques on how to draw you edge weapon but that’s about it. From what I have seen. The Japanese samurai classically carried blade(s)), only one was considered the soul of the samurai: the katana (or tachi). The Japanese pinned an extraordinary amount of value on the sword, a samurai entering someone's house might consider how to place his sheathed sword as he knelt. Positioning his sword for an easy draw implied suspicion or aggression; thus, whether he placed it on his right or left side, and whether the blade was placed curving away or towards him, was an important point of etiquette. As for the host, his long sword was generally stored under the wakizashi on a low rack, curving upwards; if it curved downwards, or was stored above the wakizashi, that meant the owner expected he might have to draw it quickly - a mark of suspicion to any guest. You see how they were ready to draw their weapon and where to place their weapon; they train for hours and have precise techniques for drawing the weapon. Just about the same thing can be said about Gun Training, A lot of your training is shooting at a paper target that holds still for you and it is not shooting back. Yes I know you have to start somewhere but all too often folks stop there. You have to be able to draw your edge weapon or firearm under duress and indifferent positions, I.E. On your back or side and knee’s, also placement of your weapon on your body. one of the most common questions that I get, from everyday students as well as law enforcement and military professionals is,‖ what suggestions do you have for carrying my weapons for better concealment and use?" Which brings another set of issues about concealed weapon but that’s another article. We also need to touch on what type of edge weapon will you carry Fix blade or folder, Does it have wave technology, open asst ect.ect… What are the legal issues about the length of the weapon, again that’s another article. I have designed Drills to address these problems of drawing your edge weapon some of are designed to maximize speed and natural movement while you are in a protection mode others are designed to attack while still having the ability to draw your edge weapon again with natural movement. The last thing you want to do is to be obvious as you are trying to draw your edge weapon in life threaten situation. A lot system or styles do not teach how to draw your folder knife or gun they start out with the weapon in hand and that is just not right. now having written this, keep in mind that this is new for me as well. I was never taught how to draw a folder from my pocket under duress. This is a live syllabus as

all my Modules are so they change as times change and new techniques become available. I have learned so much in doing this research. Some Folks try to say that their style has taught the ART OF DRAWING their weapon but it is not the same.. I.E. 1

st Modern Day Weapons, Like a folder. 2

nd did they add guns 3

rd have they trained it under duress / someone not letting

you draw your weapon. 4th What you are caring legal? 5

th what type of clothing are you wearing? 6

th does it allow to draw your

weapon easily? 7th Do you carry multiple edge weapon? Just something to Think about, all these variables one must take into

consideration. In closing, It is very important to know how to protect yourself with an edge weapon in a life threaten situation, where to cut how to cut, how to hold your edge weapon, How to be defensive with it and offensive with it, BUT it does not do you any GOOD IF you cannot draw your weapon in a life threaten situation and under duress. YOU DO NOT START WITH AN EDGE WEAPON IN YOUR HAND. By: Mr.Traylor

The Pros and Cons of Violence Prevention

―An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.‖ -- Benjamin Franklin What Benjamin Franklin meant was that if you are trying to stop or fix something after it has already happened, the damage has already been done. If you can prevent it from happening in the first place, things will be much easier and better overall. I have come up with some ideas as to the PROS and CONS of violence prevention, to help you prepare yourself for the day when someone tries to perpetrate an act of violence on you! Follow these steps, and you will be ready to protect yourself at all times! First, there are the three pros of violence prevention. Proactive The most important step of any journey is the first one. Most people that I have met are in denial that violence will ever happen to them. This type of thinking disables you in a violent encounter, because your body is unable to conquer the denial of ―I can’t believe this is happening to me.‖ It is happening to you – and the best way to deal with it is to accept the fact that it can happen, and happen to you. Then, you should find somewhere local to you to train in personal protection skills. Making self-defense training an everyday part of your life is the most proactive way to address the subject of violence. How many times do we get into a car or a boat and put on our seatbelts and life jackets? Now, how many times do we actually get into car accidents or fall out of boats? Exactly, hardly ever. But, all it takes is once, and we’re glad we had that belt or jacket on. Ask any victim of violence, and she will tell you that all it takes is once to change your life. Be prepared. Provision In addition to training in self-protection skills, it is imperative that you make environmental provision for your personal safety. What does that mean? It means making sure your everyday environment enables you to protect yourself when necessary. Some examples of this would include: Regularly checking windows, doors and locks for malfunction and replacing them if damaged. Find all local emergency numbers and put them on speed dial for quick access. Keep items like a flashlight and first aid kit near you for these emergencies. If you have a personal protection tool or device (knife, gun, pepper spray, personal alarm) make sure it is within reach when you are lying in bed (and keep it in the same place all the time for consistency). Also, make sure you have a pre-planned escape route from your apartment, house, office, and car – in the event that the primary exit is inaccessible. Promiscuity, Multiple partners. This is where it’s at! No, no…this is not what you’re thinking. What I mean is in your personal protection training, make sure you investigate and absorb information from as many sources as possible. Training with multiple partners in your self-defense skills will allow you to get a feel for

different body shapes and sizes, and different perspectives. This is a HUGE advantage in training. We live in such a small world now that gone are the days where you sign up at your local karate club and stay there for 10 years. There is nothing wrong with loyalty to a particular school or teacher, but augment your regular training with ideas and insights from other sources. Next, are the three cons of violence prevention. Context During a violent encounter, your ability to think logically is essentially GONE. You become very reactionary and if you haven’t done the necessary mental prep work PRIOR to this fight – you will be in some serious hot water! Contextualizing your self-defense techniques allows you to decide beforehand what strategies and techniques are suitable for varying levels of force. For example, what level of force is suitable for a person screaming at you from behind a counter because you gave them the wrong order? What about when some shoves you at a nightclub because you looked at them for a little too long? How about when someone puts a gun to the back of your head demanding you go with them. This process begins in the mind, but we need to make a connection to the body, so that when we are not thinking straight, we can use the appropriate amount of force, Conversion This is where we make a mind-body connection and make our contextualizing a physical reality. The key here is scenario-based training. It is widely held and accepted knowledge that you are going to fight like you train. If you practice varying levels of force in a variety of training scenarios, you will be able to respond appropriately when the rubber of reality meets the road.

Conditioning, Conditioning is the final step. Here is where you form neural pathways that allow you to access your training in high stress situations. Adrenal stress training is when you purposely induce stress and cause your adrenaline to course through your body – and THEN have to defend yourself against an unpredictable attacker. With repetition, this is an extremely effective self-protection tool. When someone attacks you in reality, and your adrenaline flows and your heart rate increases, and you find yourself in a crazed emotional state – your body will naturally ―click‖ into your self-protection mode that you have created by conditioning yourself with training. The reaction is instantaneous. If you take these steps to heart, and make them a part of your life – you will ensure your safety in the midst of an increasingly violent world. We all need to take the necessary steps to protect ourselves, because the street it out there.

Habit versus Fear…

At ten o’clock that night, Lindsay had checked that her doors were locked, as usual, before

shutting the lights off and going to bed. She assumed she was safe within the protection of

her apartment walls. A typical night coupled with a typical attitude. At four o’clock in the

morning, Lindsay’s night drastically changed. Her worst fear had crept out of her

nightmares and forced its way into her bedroom. “Don’t make a sound or I’ll kill you…just

do exactly what I say” — a ruthless command and a lethal threat on an innocent human

being. This was not a practical joke carried out by a friend. It was real and it was

happening to Lindsay — a tall, thin, and ultra-feminine woman who had always thought

with confidence, ―It (rape) won’t happen to me.” But there he was and there she was.

While Lindsay slept a man had broken into her locked apartment and moved silently into

her bedroom. He woke her from a peaceful sleep with the forceful words, ―Don’t make a

sound, don’t move.‖ That statement would repeat over and over in her mind for years to

come. As this angry man, a man that she had never seen before in her life — stood over

her in her bedroom; made one last reminder for her not to do anything. Lindsay’s mind

raced back to her self-defense workshop that she had taken, she was reminded of the

emphasis placed on fighting back in order to surprise the attacker. Don’t think of anything other than survival. Look for your window of opportunity – it may be as little as five seconds – when he is vulnerable and to use it to your advantage. Fight back. And that is what she did. She knew she needed to remain calm, assess the best time for defense, and strike. Lindsay did just that. As she watched his body fly across the room, Lindsay was amazed to see the shock on his face. He was caught physically and mentally off-guard by her blow that she landed him in the chest with both of her feet, using all the force she could gather. Lindsay had enough time to escape. As she ran out of her apartment to get help, he ran too…not after her, but away from her.

Lindsay experienced a life-threatening situation. It is our responsibility to ensure our own

safety. You may be wondering why Lindsay didn’t hear her intruder as there were no

noises of a break-in; the man had a key from the previous tenant who lived in the

apartment…..previous to Lindsay. The landlord never changed the locks when Lindsay

moved in!

Personal safety is a habit not a fear. I’ve had students tell me their family members think

that they are scared or paranoid because they lock doors even when they are home; when

they go out to walk the dog and in their car. I’ve heard many parents say that having your

children’s cartoon image with their age and name on your vehicle window was not

dangerous. All of us in the personal safety arena agree, IT IS DANGEROUS! Ask any

pedophile who wants an easy target.

The fact is, paranoia will freeze you with fear and fear is the most dangerous mindset of

all. Trust your gut feelings, your instincts, intuition Be aware of your surroundings Establish and enforce your personal boundaries Exhibit confident body language Incorporate safety tips into your daily routine and life The benefits of personal safety impact your entire life in a positive manner. ―An ounce of prevention is a pound of cure.‖—

-Benjamin Franklin The people who tell you or call you paranoid for being aware and safe areO-B-L-I-V-I-O-U-S!

The impact of being oblivious and not facing the fact that all type of crimesand assaults

are happening on a daily basis is an individual with blinders on. Electing not be

educated or taught how to be safe is just downright ludacris.

ob·liv·i·ous= unmindful; unconscious; unaware

Synonym – absent-minded (so lost in thought that one does not realize what one is

doing, what is happening, etc.; preoccupied to the extent of being unaware of one’s

Carry Weapons With You…All The Time. The times we live in are very challenging for us. On a daily basis, we face the pressures of our busy schedules, financial pressure, and personal stress. As the economy seems to put us in financial difficulties, we must also keep in mind that in desperate times, a man will do desperate measures to survive. Just think about the man who crashed a plane into the IRS building. http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/texas-man-flies-plane-irs-building-9881675

If a man is under pressure financially, he may go to extreme measures. When the pressure is on, you will see what someone’s true colors are. As the economy gets worse, crime rate will go up. Now if you live in a state where you can carry a concealed firearm, you have the upper hand. If you do live in a state to carry conceal, but do not, I would advise you to. Thomas Jefferson said "The Constitution of most of our states (and of the United States) assert that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed." But if you are someone like me who lives in a state where it is illegal to carry a concealed firearm, you then have to go to plan b. (Or you may not be the age to carry a firearm legally.) So what do you do if you cannot carry a firearm? This is where I will help you to discover how to use and carry multiple weapons with you. I will help show you how to carry weapons with you whether you are in a public place, at home, or just walking down the street. A cop can even pat you down and still not find these weapons. So here is my philosophy. Anything can be used as a weapon. We train with firearm, knives, sticks, batons etc… But anything you can put your hands on can be a weapon. Here just 5 weapons that you can always have with you in your daily life that are camouflaged. 1) A pen. If you go to work and have a pen in your suit pocket, it comes in handy as if it was a kubaton. 2) Your Belt. If you have the time and distance to take your belt off, it can be used like a Filipino Sarong, to strangle, or hit your opponent with the buckle end. 3) Your keys. You can use your keys to cut, or if they are on a lanyard you now have as weapon to swing at your opponent. 4) A Shoe. Again, if you have the distance and time to take a shoe off you kick off you sandal to grab, this can become a nice neutralizer. 5) Your own shirt. If you where in a predicament where it is non lethal, you can take the fight to the ground and while in the dominant position, cover the aggressor’s face and mouth with your shirt. This won’t kill him, but restrict his breathing. He may pass out but hopefully they settle down before that point. These are just 5 out of many things that we can use as a weapon. Hopefully you never have to use them but if you are in the situation whether it is lethal or non lethal, I pray that you may have the answer to the solution. Until Next Time. Train hard, be safe and

The Thin Veil Of Empowerment I want to talk to you today about a very sensitive issue. This happens in many dojos worldwide but i don't want to focus on that today. I want to focus on an even more serious issue. I want to focus on women's self defense. As a martial artist i don't believe there are instructors out there that want to teach something bad on purpose. I think people who say that are negative people that only want to tear things down. However i do believe their are many martial artists who are well meaning but actually do more damage than good because they don't understand the issue when it comes to women's self defense. So i want to talk to you about what a women's self defense course should be and why i believe it.The biggest problem i see is that most of these course tend to focus on empowerment alone. Now i want to say this right off. You must have empowerment as a part of any self defense course. It doesn't do any good to have great techniques if the students will never be empowered to use them. A course without empowerment is pretty much useless. However a course with only empowerment is very dangerous and could get a student killed. The fact is learning how to punch and kick and yell loud while standing still isn't going to do any good. I've seen some of these course where they even teach wristlocks and fingerlocks for self defense. So why do I scoff at this? One need to only have a rudimentary study of human physiology to understand why.You take a woman who has been battered and is scared and put them in one of these classes for a couple hours and show them this stuff. You think if something goes down and all they've done is stand in one spot with a compliant partner and do this slow that they won't panic when it actually happens 10 times faster than they trained? So what happen to the body when it panics? Well first of all when your heart rate gets above 115 beats per minute you lose the ability to perform fine motor skills. What constitutes a fine motor skill? A perfect example would be a wrist lock or finger lock. Get it now? Someone teaching a woman to perform a technique she doesn't have a chance in hell of pulling off. Thats pretty dangerous to me.The fact is this goes much deeper. Dojos today simply don't pressure test their own techniques. Pressure testing means they've tested the techniques at full speed in scenarios where things such as heart rate increase are mimicked so they know for a fact that the stuff they teach works under the conditions they are teaching. It's simply regurgitating the same thing they were taught which could have been for a completely different circumstance. Now i have black belts in 5 martial arts. Three of them are 5th dans (Midori Yama Goshin Jujutsu, Shin Shin Jujitsu, and Koga Ryu Ninjutsu respectively) This not withstanding i will make the bold statement that none of these ranks qualifies me in any way to teach women's self defense, and none of yours do either. A martial arts rank only qualifies you to teach to curriculum you learned to get your belt and thats all. Otherwise if I had a black belt in one thing it would mean i had it in everything. Women's self defense is a separate issue

all together and must be treated as such. Now when I was doing my research on this subject i tossed my martial arts out the window. I interviewed social workers, Police officers, victims, and even attackers in jail to get the info I needed. I did this because i understood it was an important issue and needed the respect it deserved. I didn't care about promoting some dojo or some art. I only cared about protecting women and put my own ego and knowledge aside to get to the truth. By understanding the real issues and how attacks go down and what leads up to them i then put together my program. I believe this is the right way to do it. As I mentioned earlier most of these courses tend to focus on empowerment alone which can be very dangerous. If the well meaning instructor doesn't understand the issue then you could be empowered to put yourself in a situation where you should've ran. By using techniques with a low physiological success rate thats a good way to end up dead. As far as physical techniques the consensus among the experts is that target aquisition is best. Pick 5 areas on the attackers body that could be hit from anywhere. Some good high line targets would be the eyes, throat, or ears would be good. Low line targets that could be used to set up high line targets would be inside of the thighs, instep, or groin. Notice I said the low line targets were setup targets not the main targets themselves. Alot of these courses focus on the groin as a primary target. This is a HUGE mistake. Most men are hardwired to protect this target. It's one thing for them to be standing there and you whack the ol' nads and drop them. It's different when they are hopped up on drugs or adrenaline. I promise you they won't feel it like you think they will. It can turn a rape into a murder fast. It is however a good set up target to bring the head forward and maybe drops the hands to get at a highline target to by the time to make your escape. Yes i said escape. This isn't about winning a fight this is about living or dying... Get out of there! Even with that physical knowledge it isn't enough. Because nothing is %100 percent and all life is precious. The fact is the education is much more important than the physical stuff. If your doing the physical stuff then it's because you screwed up at least 5 times and missed alot of signs to get there. Things like understanding when your being abused emotionally, cycles of violence, crime trends in your area, how violence escalates, what makes a psychopath tick. Things like this could help you never be in one of these situations. On our website (www.stonewalltactical.com) if you go to the article section you will find two links. One for pre-incident indicators and one for women's self defense support material that has clickable links for further study. This info is yours for free to begin your education that is so important. page 13

I want to say something now to the potential instructors that could be teaching these courses. When you teach these courses you need to spread the educational material throughout don't put it all in one spot. Your going to feel pressure to make everything entertaining. Don't buckle to that. You cannot let the students dictate the content. Some will think the educational portion is boring but you need to make it clear that it IS the most important part. The students have a responsibility to understand they are there to be informed not entertained. This stuff could save a life someday and you need to make sure they know it. This is a serious issue that deserves respect and reverance. When it comes to the physical portion let them try the techniques a couple times to make sure they know how to do it, but as soon as that happens make sure the attackers in class stop being compliant. It does know good to fill someone with false empowerment. Make sure they can do the techniques and feel how the body changes during them. This will also help with the educational material and bring more focus to it when they understand this isn't easy. They need to really understand the issue not be lied to. This is why techniques need to be simple and direct because it will increase their success rate unders stress. If your going to teach then teach the truth and do it right. In closing I want to tell you a true story about a girl i met. I'm not going to use her name because the family still lives in this area. I only met her once and learned of all this later down the road years later. A friend of mine was dating her and had been doing so for a couple months. She was separated from her husband going through a very ugly divorce. She was deathly afraid for her life because she felt he was dangerous. She always had someone staying with her in case he came by. She once made the statement to my friend that if he kills me promise me you'll hold my hand. He of course promised he would. One night she heard something outside and thought it was him so she called a friend to come over and he did but saw nothing. He did agree to stay on the couch. No none is exactly sure how it went down but the guy on the couch was found shot in the back of the head in the front yard and she was shot to death in her bed. The husband is now in prison serving a life sentence. When my friend got there the body hadn't been moved yet. He asked if he could hold her hand. He was told he couldn't because her hands hand been blown off when she went to cover her head in fear. This is a sad story but it's completely true. This is how these things happen. All the empowerment in the world would have never saved this girl's life. Education however, might have made a difference. There was help out there. Alot of women's shelters in our area keep their location hidden from the public. She could've been safe there. At least til things blew over. The police weren't told either they could've got more involved, but no one was told and she never knew she could've done it. Empowerment is a thin veil that is nothing without education. You put them together however and you may have something special. So please respect this issue and do the work. Life is beautiful and precious and this has to be done right. I hope if your an instructor that you won't be offended by this but instead use it as a call to action to make a change. A real change for a real solution that could help someone special. Because everyone has somebody that loves them and will miss them when they are gone. So together lets make a difference to insure when someone reaches out that there's a hand there to hold them. Fake Self-Defense Instructors Pt 7 Of course Jim Wagner knows nothing about Israeli Krav Maga. September 28, 2010- Austin, TX- Robb Hamic has been at the center of exposing a lot

of the goings on in the world of Israeli Martial Arts and Krav Maga. Frankly, he has seen

too much and it has caused him to make choices. Work, train or tell people about what

hehas learned and knows like the back of his hand? It is true that Robb Hamic has

talked to the head of every major krav or Israeli martial art in the past year. He has

gained review original documents and explanation of the evolution of Krav Maga from

the source in Israel. It is no secret that Hamic is a Israeli Krav Maga Association- Gidon

System Instructor and he is loyal but that does not change the truth about what

happened, what others did and where the truth lies. If anything, Hamic stands on his

word, speaks his mind (in his own words) and everyone knows where he stands.

Fact finding, digging and investigating takes a long time. Talking to the various sources

of information and organizations takes a long time. Thinking about all of this takes a

long time. Hamic wanted to be very fair about presenting this information but the truth

is the truth. He was contacted by the heads of all of the large krav maga organizations

and they wanted to give him their input.

FOR THE RECORD: Hamic offered each one of these people organizations the ability to

submit information and options from their point of view. He offered each of them the

ability to submit facts and evidence that called any of his research or blog posts into

quesiton. He offered to post all of this.

From Robb Hamic:

So much has already been addressed on this blog and there are still so many questions.

I get 10+ direct e-mails a day and countless FB messages, comments and personal

questions from people I meet as I travel. Many of the questions originate around my

opinions of organizations or ask if I have information for people. This should bring

everyone up to speed. I am going to address mainly Krav Maga issues and I don't think

that many systems or organizations should even have a place at the "table of

discussion" because they are not real. I will break down some of the status for these

organizations first.

Haganah- Yesterday I learned that all of their Trademarks were canceled by the US Trade

Mark Office. The International Defensive Fighting System (IDFS) has been sued by me and

still hasn't answered their lawsuit filed in Florida Circuit Court. The suit is still moving

forward. Kanarek was featured on Spike TV and in my opinion, he made a very bad showing

for the "Israeli Special Forces." The show featured the IDF Special Forces against the US

Navy SEALS. The SEALS were proficient and professional but the same could not be said

for Kanarek. He looked old and he obviously did not have the skills mastered despite hiring

a personal consultant prior to the show. He has brought in this consultant to teach his gun

and tactical issues within the company. I know a number of people who have left this

program and see it for the fake that I think it is. Most of its advertising claims have been

proven to be false. This is just a short list.. Visit www.mikekanarek.com for more.

Haganah's ™'s canceled

Moni Aizik and CKM- This guy and his fake organization has proven to be one of the

largest frauds that the reality martial arts world has ever seen. Almost all of his claims and

advertising has been proven completely false and most importantly he admits in his own

words that he knows nothing of Krav Maga, had only one meeting with imi Lichtenfeld and

thought he was insignifigant in his (Aizik's) life. His own words folks! I sued him together

with Joel Gerson, David Kahn and Nir Mamane in Florida Circuit Court. He has defaulted

and not answered. His last instructor class had 2 people in it and I think that both found this

blog, sought refunds and received them. I think Aizik has numerous US Federal Criminal

Charges outstanding against him now. Good luck coming back into the US Moni. Stay on

your desert island in the Caribbean.. Visit www.moniaizik.info for more info..

This post pretty much sums it up with the covert audio..

If not, this one does..

There are other fake instructors or people making false claims about Krav Maga. The list is

really too long to list or keep up with. I recommend that all people do their investigation and

check the Internet about their instructor and or the system that they are affiliated or

considering. Seriously, take a minute and do some diligent investigation and don't just take some sales advertisement's word. Take

it from me, Black Belt Magazine, History Channel and Military Channel can't be trusted. I trusted their "reporting" and look where

it got me..

OK. Now I am going to talk about Israeli Krav Maga or those who state that they teach it. I

have gone to great lengths to find the truth. I have traveled to the place were krav maga was

created, Netanya israel. I will be back in December and continue my path as an Israeli Krav

Maga Instructor. Everyone knows that Imi Lictenfeld created Krav Maga and it was originally

exclusively taught only to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). In the 1970's Imi decided that

citizens should know Krav Maga "so that we may all walk in peace." He formed the Israeli

Krav Maga Association (IKMA), which still exists today. It was his only club and almost

all instructors who have broken off and started their "own systems or clubs came from the

IKMA or were trained there
